1 Datasheet Lighting and Sunblind Expansion Modules Overview Applications When connected to any compatible HVAC programmable controller, the ECx-Light/Blind expansion modules allow to control up to 8 lights and 8 shade / sunblind motors, creating a unique Integrated Room Control solution (IRC): On/Off lighting Light dimming Line-powered shades / sunblinds 24 VDC shades / sunblinds Improves energy efficiency when combined with the EC-Multi-Sensor: Motion detectors to automatically adjust a zone s occupancy mode from standby to occupied when presence is detected. Luminosity sensor to adjust the necessary light power to the actual luminosity in the room. The ECx-Light/Blind Expansion Modules are microprocessor-based interfaces that extend the number of inputs and outputs provided by the ECL/ECB-PTU Series controllers as well as ECL/ECB-VAV controllers. When connected to one of these HVAC programmable controller, these expansion modules enable to control up to 8 lighting loads and 8 motorised shades / sunblinds, creating a unique Integrated Room Control Solution (IRC). The ECx-Light/Blind Expansion Modules operate off of a separate sub-network bus (governed by the main HVAC controller). This optimizes the control possibilities while allowing such a modular solution (HVAC controller + expansion modules) to be interpreted as a single device by the network, thereby avoiding unnecessary system overloading. In addition, positioning the expansion modules directly in ceilings, close to the lightings or shade / sunblind motors, as well as its straightforward connection to the main HVAC controller through a single RJ45 cable, reduces installation and wiring costs while lessening risks of errors. Moreover, due to their dedicated power supply (depending on the model), the ECx-Light/Blind expansion modules consumption can easily be monitored, allowing the supervisor to instantly detect abnormal power usage and anticipate bulb maintenance as part of a proactive preventive maintenance program. This allows you to quickly and easily create your own control sequences capable of meeting the most demanding requirements of any engineering specification. Seen as an extension of the main HVAC controller when configuring, allowing you to save engineering time Quick-link connectors for direct installation into the ceilings, or traditional detachable connectors for use with optional strain reliefs and terminal block covers. 3 Subnetwork Overview The Integrated Room Control Solution combines a main HVAC Controller with expansion modules dedicated to lighting and sunblind management to form a modular solution that uses a single point on the network. LON or BACnet Network The main HVAC controller centralizes the information received from the subnetwork and sends the appropriate commands to the HVAC system and to the different expansion modules. The expansion modules execute lighting and/or sunblind commands received from the main HVAC controller, to which they transmit the information coming from the accessories shown below. The accessories send the needed information on the subnetwork (temperature, luminosity, occupancy, lighting commands, sunblind commands,...) and provide a user interface. 3/10

4 Complementary Products External Connectors Line of required external connectors Allure EC-Smart-Vue Series Line of communicating room temperature sensors with communication jack, a backlit-display and configurable graphic menus that allow occupants to set occupancy, setpoint adjustment, fan speed, or any other system parameters. Models are available with any combination of the following options: humidity sensor, motion sensor, and CO 2 sensor. The ECO-Vue icon shows how environmentally-friendly the zone s energy consumption is in real time. Allure EC-Sensor Series Line of discrete temperature sensors. Models are available with the following options: communication jack, occupancy override button, setpoint adjustment, and fan speed selection. Allure Wireless Battery-less ECW-Sensor Series Line of wireless, battery-less room temperature sensors. Models are available with the following options: occupancy override button, setpoint adjustment, and fan speed selection. These sensors are available in EnOcean 315 MHz and MHz versions. The controller must be equipped with a Wireless Receiver. EC-Multi-Sensor Series Line of in-ceiling multi-sensors. Models are available with presence detection, light sensor, temperature sensor, and infrared receiver. Wireless Sensors and Switches A wide range of self-powered wireless sensors and switches, including the following: Motion detector and light sensor, 2-/4-channel wireless light switches (North American and European models), outdoor temperature sensor, surface temperature contact sensor, duct temperature sensor, and more. These sensors are available in EnOcean 315 MHz and MHz versions. The controller must be equipped with a Wireless Receiver.
