7 Lithium Battery Replacement Procedure: Master Unit Layout: The lithium battery located on the GEN-001, Master Unit PB board, provides back up of power to the programming data, in the event of power supply failure. Each battery has it own life, and they may require to be replaced from time to time. Page 10 Page 13 1) The Lithium Battery can be replaced while power is present to the PB Board, but precautions must be taken not to short any components on the board. 2) If the supply of power is not present and the battery is removed ALL PROGRAMMING DATA WILL BE LOST. 3) It is therefore recommended that prior to replacing the battery, all programming data be backed up and uploaded onto a P or Laptop omputer. 4) Remove the BATTERY LINK located next to Lithium battery. This will disconnect the battery from PB Board. 5) arefully remove the battery from its holder. 6) Insert new battery ensuring the +ve side of the battery is facing upwards. 7) Inspect that the battery is properly located in its holder. 8) Reconnect the BATTERY LINK. AUTION There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type of battery, as recommended by Genesis Electronics Australia currently R2450 3V Lithium Battery. Dispose of used batteries according to the battery manufacturer s instructions. Page 8 Page 11 Page 12 Page 18 Revision 2.02 September 2002 Revision 2.02 September 2002 Page 7
8 Input Layout and Wiring: 16 Input Terminals, with individual common returns are supplied on the Genesis Master Unit. The Genesis Master Unit allows for each input to have a different End of Line resistor value. (up to 16 EOL values). This includes tamper monitoring, through Dual End of Line resistors. The Genesis panel is supplied with the following resistor combination as standard: 10KΩ = Sealed 14.7KΩ = Alarm (10KΩ + 4.7KΩ) Points to Note: DO NOT common the 0V D, or +12V D, of power supplies and Genesis devices. Removal of the Serial Number from any Genesis device will immediately void any warranty applicable to it, or any interconnected Genesis device. LIGHTNING PROTETION: In areas where electric storms provide potentially high risks to electronic equipment, it may be required to add additional protection using gas dischard protectors, called arresters. The Genesis Master Unit has been designed to allow for installation of these arresters if required, to protect both the Telephone and RS485 communication lines. However, these values can be changed from within the Genesis Technician Software, to suit most resistor configurations. Each Fuse is rated to 1 Amp The Fuses in order are; Aux Output 1 Aux Output 2 Siren 2 Output Strobe 2 Output Siren 1 Output Strobe 1 Output Note: While each fuse is rated to 1 Amp, the total D current drawn from the Master Unit should not exceed 1 Amp. Piezo Buzzer Fully programmable piezo buzzer is supplied on the Genesis Master Unit. Genesis LAN: Genesis uses industry standard RS-485 LAN communication to ensure fast efficient network communication between devices. The Genesis LAN operates at a communication speed of 19,200 baud between up to 128 devices over a total LAN distance of up to 1500 meters. In order to ensure that a high level of performance is achieved, it is necessary to connect the Genesis LAN in the recommended method. To this end, it must be twisted pair data cable that is used for the Genesis LAN. Belden 8723 (RS-485) cable, or equivalent is recommended. A standard must be applied when wiring from one LAN leg to another. For example, the A leg on a Master Unit must always be connected to the A legs on other Genesis devices, while the B leg must always be connected to the B legs on other Genesis devices. A very common communication problem is where the A and B lines are reversed. If this occurs, then some devices may appear on-line, while others are off-line. The Genesis LAN is an industry standard multi-drop RS-485 configuration. Do Not Tee Off, or Star configure your LAN. While the LAN may function in these configurations, Genesis cannot guarantee proper LAN performance.
