1 IPCP Pro Series Setup uide IMPORTANT: o to f the complete user guide, installation instructions, and specifications befe connecting the product to the power source. The Extron IPCP Pro Series IP Link Pro Control Processs integrate Ethernet connection into AV systems to allow users to remotely control, monit, and troubleshoot AV equipment, including display devices and switchers. All models include an embedded web server. Depending on the model, an IPCP Pro control process can include multiple bidirectional serial pts, relays, IR/serial pts, digital, flex, switched VDC power output pts, a volume control pt, contact input pts f use in applications that require control and moniting of multiple devices within a large-scale AV system. All models include an Extron pt, which allows a variety of devices to be connected to a single control process. devices include an array of button panels as well as power and signal hubs. devices are automatically recognized by the control process and can be added removed at any time. IPCP Pro Control Processs with AV provide a secure netwk dedicated f the connection and isolation of AV devices. This guide provides instructions f an experienced installer to install an IPCP Pro Series control process and to create a basic configuration. Use Extron Toolbelt software to discover and manage the IPCP Pro control process and other Extron control products. Configure the control process using Extron lobal Configurat software running in lobal Configurat Professional (C Professional) lobal Configurat Plus (C Plus) mode, program the control process using Extron lobal Scripter (S). The IPCP integrates seamlessly with Extron lobalviewer Enterprise (VE) software and Extron Control apps f remote control applications. These control processs suppt multiple TouchLink Pro touchpanel interfaces over a standard Ethernet netwk. lobal Configurat and other useful software applications are available at Setup Checklist: How to Proceed With Installation et Ready Familiarize yourself with the features of the control process (see Front Panel Features Models Without AV on page 4, Front Panel Features Models With AV on page 5, Rear Panel Features Models Without AV on page 6, and Rear Panel Features Models With AV on page 7) and of any TouchLink Pro touchpanels that will be part of the system. Download and install the latest version of the following: Toolbelt software f discovering the control process and other control products on the netwk, f managing ce settings, and f upgrading firmware when needed. lobal Configurat (C) software f configuring the control system. lobal Scripter software f programming the control process (as an alternative to C) UI Designer software f designing layouts f Extron TouchLink Pro touchpanels and third party touch interfaces IP Link Pro device drivers f use with C, to make control of AV devices possible IR Learner Pro software f use with models that have IR receiver pts. Use this to create your own IR drivers using the remote control of an AV device, if drivers are not already available from Extron All are avail able from (see Locating Software, Firmware, and Driver Files on the Extron Website on page 5). Obtain netwk infmation f the unit from the netwk administrat. You also need the following details f each IP Link Pro device: DHCP setting (on off) Subnet mask Username Device (IPCP Pro, TouchLink Pro, IPL Pro) IP address ateway IP address Passwds AV IP address (f models with AV ) Write down the MAC address of each netwk interface on each IP Link Pro device to be used. Obtain model names and setup infmation f devices the IPCP will control.

2 IPCP Pro Series Setup uide (Continued) Each control process comes with a facty-installed Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security certificate. If you intend to install a different SSL certificate, contact your IT department to obtain the certificate f instructions on how to obtain one. See Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificates in the IPCP Pro Series User uide f requirements and guidelines regarding SSL certificates. Mount and Cable All Devices Mount the unit to a rack furniture (see Mounting on the next page). Cable devices to the control process (see Cabling and Features on page 8). Connect power cds and power on all the devices. Set Up the Control Process and Touchpanels f Netwk Communication Connect the PC that you will use f setup, the ( AV ) pt of the control process, and the touchpanels to the same Ethernet netwk. F control process and AV connections, see Control, Bidirectional and AV (Ethernet) on page 9. Start Toolbelt and use it to set the IP address, subnet, gateway IP address, DHCP status, and related settings. See the flowchart in Netwk Communication Setup on the next page. NOTE: When setting up DHCP during netwk configuration if using a host name instead of an IP address, the user must enter a qualified host name (Username.HostName.Domain). F example: somename.extron.com. Configure Program the Control Process and Touchpanels The most basic steps are outlined below in the recommended der. NOTE: See the Toolbelt Help File, lobal Configurat Help File, lobal Scripter Help File, and UI Designer Help File as needed f step-by-step instructions and detailed infmation. The help file f C includes an introduction to the software and how to start a project and configuration. If TouchLink Pro third party touchpanels are part of the system, start and use UI Designer to design, save, and build the graphical user interface (UI) layout f the touchpanels. NOTE: To redeem (activate) a LinkLicense, go to and follow the online instructions. Using C, create a new C Professional C Plus project and configure the control process and other IP Link Pro devices. The configuration tells the control process: How its pts function What to monit How to control other products When to do things Which touchpanels to interact with Whom to notify, how, and under what circumstances Configure pts on the control process. Select device drivers and link them to each serial, IR/serial, Ethernet pt. Select settings (serial protocol, relay behavi, digital flex settings) as needed. Add devices and set them up: Ensure that the hardware address set on each device is distinct and matches the address used in the configuration. Assign button functions as desired. Set up monits, schedules, macros, and local variables. Add touchpanels and set them up: Add the UI configuration f each touchpanel to the C project using lobal Configurat. Assign any appropriate functions, monits, schedules to the touchpanels and their buttons. If not using C Professional C Plus, use lobal Scripter to program the control system as desired. Program pts on the control process. Program each serial, IR/serial, Ethernet pt. Program relay behavi, digital, and flex settings as needed. Add devices and set them up: Ensure that the hardware address ( ID) set on each device is distinct and matches the address programmed f it in the IPCP. Program button functions as desired.

3 Add touchpanels and set them up: Upload the UI configuration f the touchpanels. Program the touchpanel buttons. Save and build the project. Upload the system configuration to the control process. Test and Troubleshoot Test the system (see the IPCP Pro User uide f an outline of the system testing procedure). Make adjustments to wiring configuration as needed. Netwk Communication Setup Netwk setup is essential pri to configuration. Use the following flowchart as a guide to setting up the control process f netwk use. Netwk Communication Setup Connect the PC and the pt AV pt of the control process to the same netwk. Apply power to all devices. Open the Toolbelt software from within lobal Configurat (C Professional C Plus mode) as the stand-alone application. Start Device Discovery. Toolbelt displays a list of all Extron control devices connected to the netwk. Using the MAC address, locate the desired control process in the list and select it. F each netwk interface (, and AV ), use the Set IP feature in Toolbelt use the Toolbelt Manage > Netwk Settings tab feature to enter the IP address and subnet address, then configure other netwk settings as needed. Figure. Netwk Setup Mounting Securely mount the control process and other devices and attach cables using the wiring section (see Cabling and Features on page 8) as a wiring guide. Optional U rack shelves and furniture mounting bracket kits are available f use with the control process. Read the instructions and UL guidelines that come with the rack shelf mounting kit f installation procedures. AV DHCP Server The AV DHCP Server is disabled by default. It can be enabled to dynamically assign IP addresses to DHCP clients on the AV. 11 PoE+ output: The IPCP Pro 360 offers Power over Ethernet+ (PoE+) output on AV pts and 3. These RJ 45 connects, labeled PoE+ Out, can output a maximum of 30 watts per pt. The cresponding Power lights when the pt provides power. PoE+ pts can be monited f status and power consumption, and power output can be scheduled. F details, see the IPCP Pro Series User uide and the lobal Configurat Help File. PWR PoE+ OUT ATTENTION: Power over Ethernet (PoE) is intended f indo use only. 14 IPCP Pro Series Setup uide (Continued) Reset Modes: a Brief Summary The IP Link Pro control processs offer the following reset modes: Use Facty Firmware: Press and hold the front panel Reset button while applying power to the unit. Keep holding the button down until the Power blinks twice, f 6 seconds, then release the button. The control process enters facty firmware mode. F units with firmware pri to version.x, the blinks quickly. Use this mode to revert to facty firmware in the event of a firmware failure. Do not continue to operate the control process using the facty firmware version. If you want to use the facty default firmware version, you must upload that version again. Project Recovery: See the IPCP Pro Series User uide f instructions. Use this mode to recover the project in the event of a lost user name and passwd. Run/Stop Program: Hold down the Reset button f about 3 seconds, until the Power blinks once. Release and press the Reset button momentarily (f < second) within second. (Nothing happens if the momentary press does not occur within second.) The blinks times if the program is starting. The blinks 3 times if the program is stopping. This mode allows you to restart any programs stopped by an IP settings reset. Toggle DHCP Client: Press the Reset button five times (consecutively). Release the button. Do not press the button within 3 seconds following the fifth press. Use this mode to enable disable the DHCP client f the pt. The Reset blinks 6 times if the DHCP client is enabled. The Reset blinks 3 times if the DHCP client is disabled. NOTES: DHCP toggle mode is suppted on firmware version 3.0 higher. By default DHCP is off and the unit uses a static IP address. When you disable the DHCP client, the unit reverts to using the previously-set static IP address. Reset All IP Settings: Press and hold the front panel Reset button f 6 seconds. After the Power blinks twice, release and momentarily press the Reset button. Use this mode to reset all netwk settings to facty default values without affecting user-loaded files. This reset mode also stops any running programs. This resets the settings f both and AV pts, including turning DHCP off. Reset to Facty Defaults: Press and hold the front panel Reset button f 9 seconds. After the Power blinks three times, release and momentarily press the Reset button. Use this mode to return the control process to facty default settings. This mode also deletes all user-loaded files and configurations. If the system requires a control driver that is not already available, you have additional options: Request a new serial (RS 3) Ethernet driver from Extron. Create your own custom IR device driver using IR Learner Pro software. Follow the directions in the IR Learner Pro Help File to create a driver by using the remote control f that device and the IR receiver pt on the front panel of the IPCP Pro. 15 Locating Software, Firmware, and Driver Files on the Extron Website There are three main ways to find software, firmware, and device drivers within Via links from the web page f the specific product Via the Download page (Click on the Download tab at the top of any page within Via links from search results NOTES: F some software you have the option to click the Download Now button to begin downloading the software file. F other software there is a link f contacting an Extron suppt representative who can provide you access to the latest version. To obtain Extron control product software, you must have an Extron Insider account. Extron provides training to our customers on how to use the software. Access to the full features of lobal Configurat Professional is available to those who successfully complete Extron Control Professional Certification. New RS-3 and Ethernet drivers are required. You must use serial and Ethernet drivers developed specifically f the IP Link Pro platfm. With the exception of IR device drivers, drivers used f the previous generation IP Link (non-pro) control processs are not compatible. 5
