This guide provides basic instructions for an experienced technician to install the AXI 0 Audio Expansion Interface. The AXI 0 is a pure breakout device that provides line-level outputs for -enabled devices. The AXI 0 is simple to use with no DP processing hardware controls. For additional information and specifications, see the AXI 0 product page at NOTE: -enabled devices are devices that contain an Extron port for routing bidirectional channels of digital audio. In this guide, -enabled devices and devices are used interchangeably. Disconnect Power and Mount the AXI 0 Disconnect power from the AXI 0 and power off all devices that will be connected to it. C Input Port and LED This J- port connects the AXI 0 to the port of a primary device. The Expansion output channels of the primary device are sent to the AXI 0 line outputs (see Connecting a Primary Device to the Input Port on the next page). The LED to the right of the port blinks to indicate a primary device is connected. NOTE: A primary device is a device that has been set as a Primary Unit in DP Configurator (see the DMP 28 Plus User uide for more information regarding primary and secondary devices). DMP 28 Plus units are set to primary by default. D Thru Port and LED This J- port connects the Expansion output channels of a secondary device to the AXI 0. When a primary device is connected to the port, the Expansion output channels of the secondary device connected to the THU port are sent through the AXI 0 to the Expansion input channels of the primary device connected to the port (see Connecting a Primary Device and econdary Device on page ). If no primary device is connected to the port, the Expansion output channels of the secondary device connected to the THU port are sent to the AXI 0 line outputs (see Connecting a econdary Device to the Thru Port on page ). The LED to the right of the THU port lights solid to indicate a secondary device is connected. NOTE: A secondary device is a device that has been set as a econdary Unit in DP Configurator (see the DMP 28 Plus User uide for more information regarding primary and secondary devices). CrossPoint units are set to secondary by default. 2

AXI 0 Front Panel Features A Power Indicator LED This green LED lights solid when the AXI 0 is powered and fully operational. Indicator LEDs The green Input LED blinks to indicate a primary device is connected to the rear-panel port. The green Thru LED lights solid to indicate a secondary device is connected to the rear-panel THU port. C Output ignal and Clip LEDs ixteen pairs of stacked green and red LEDs light steadily when signal is present and increase in intensity from -0 df (lowest intensity, signal presence indication) to - df (full brightness). The red clip LEDs light solid to indicate clipping when a signal exceeds - df. The red clip LEDs stay lit for one second after clipping ceases. Application and ignal Flow Diagrams The following diagrams display the different signal flows when primary and secondary enabled devices are connected to the AXI 0. NOTE: Daisy-chaining two or more AXI 0 units together is not supported. Connecting a Primary Device to the Input Port The diagram below displays the AXI 0 signal flow when only a primary device, such as the DMP 28 Plus, is connected to the port of the AXI 0. All Expansion output channels of the primary device are routed to the line outputs of the AXI 0 (see path A in figure ). 4 Connecting a Primary Device and econdary Device The diagram below displays the signal flow when a primary enabled device is connected to the port and a secondary enabled device is connected to the THU port. All Expansion output channels of the secondary device are routed through the AXI 0 and into the primary device Expansion input channels (see path in the figure below). All Expansion output channels of the primary device are routed to the analog line outputs of the AXI 0 (see path A in the figure below). Expansion output channel of the primary device is routed to the AXI 0 line output, and so on. All Expansion output channels of the primary device are also routed to the Expansion input channels of the secondary device (see path A2 in the figure below). Expansion output channel of the secondary device is routed to Expansion input channel of the primary device, and so on. 5 Connecting a econdary Device to the Thru Port The diagram below displays the signal flow when only a secondary device such as the CrossPoint 08 K is connected to the THU port. All Expansion output channels of the secondary device are routed to the line outputs of the AXI 0. The Expansion output channels of a secondary device are only routed to the AXI 0 line outputs when no primary device is connected to the port (see Connecting a Primary Device and econdary Device on the previous page).
