The presentation with Patrick Andres was very extensive and well-received. (Programs) Mustafa Morsy Grassroots Government Advocacy SPEAKER: Patrick Andres, MASc., P.Eng., CPHC Technical Lead, Resource Conservation at City of Guelph The talk covered the changes in effect, starting in Permit applications submitted after January 1st 2018 require compliance with the updated version of SB-10 (January 1, 2017) using one of the following options. 1. Achieve the energy efficiency levels attained by conforming to ASHRAE Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings and Chapter 2 in Division 3 of

Achieve the energy efficiency levels attained by conforming to Section 7 of ASHRAE Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, excluding Sections 7.2.b, , 7.4.8, and Achieve the energy efficiency levels attained by conforming to NRCC NECB National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings and Chapter 3 in Division 3 of SB-10. This may require energy modeling depending on the option selected within the standard. 4. Achieve the energy efficiency levels attained by conforming to Division 5 of SB-10. (Applicable only to certain Part 9 nonresidential buildings) Part 9 non-residential buildings that meet certain requirements can use option #4. All other Part 9 non-residential and Part 3 buildings are required to follow one of the first three options. It is important to note that the first three options are also required to meet the carbon dioxide equivalents and peak electric demand requirements found in Chapter 1, Division 3 of SB Exceed by not less than 13% the energy efficiency levels required by Sentence (2), Division 1 and 2 of MMA Supplementary Standard SB-10 as demonstrated using energy modelling under either the energy cost budget method of ASHRAE or Part 8 performance compliance of 2011 NECB. New MMA SB-10 compliance checklist forms available for both Division 3 & Division 5 compliance paths. For the 2017/18 year, the Chapter is sponsoring students who sign up to become student members by funding their membership dues for one year For More Details Click here ASHRAE Society Scholarships Scholarship money is available from ASHRAE to help students further their education in HVAC&R engineering & technology as it pertains to the built environment industry. A total of 33 Society scholarships, ranging in value from $3,000 to $10,000, are available for the academic year. For a complete list of scholarships, eligibility criteria, and application materials, please visit Applications are now being accepted for ASHRAE's Undergraduate Engineering, Engineering Technology, Regional/Chapter, and University-Specific Scholarships. All applications must be submitted on or before December 1, 2017 to receive consideration; this includes the Engineering Technology Scholarships (former application deadline of May 1st). 7 Get in-depth training for real-world HVAC&R challenges from ASHRAE in conjunction with the 2018 Canadian Mechanical & Plumbing Exposition (CMPX) in Toronto.
