April 4 CMAS Testing Begins Hello Colorow Families, I hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine as much as we have, although there will surely be more snow to come! We have now concluded two-thirds of the school year. My, how time flies! The teachers and staff at Colorow will continue to bring our very best for your students each and every day. We are so thankful for the support you provide at home, too. Ensuring that your student does homework and comes to school prepared makes such a positive impact on learning. Thank you for your partnership! The arrival of Spring also brings the yearly event of the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessments. These tests assess student achievement in English Language Arts and Math for grades 3-6 as well as science for 5th grade. The 4th grade social studies assessment is given every three years. Since Colorow s 4th graders took the social studies assessment last year, our school is excluded from the social studies portion this year. Colorow will administer the CMAS/PARCC assessments as follows: 5th/6th ELA: April 4-6 5th Math: April th Math: April th Science: April rd/4th ELA: April rd/4th Math: April Should any changes to this schedule become necessary, parents will be updated. Parents/Guardians, we appreciate you making every effort to ensure your student is at school and rested on these assessment days. When students have to be pulled for make ups, they miss instructional time in their classrooms. Thank you! Choice Enrollment Round 2 Now Open! While some classes are full for the school year, we have space in selected classes for Choice Enrollment. Spread the word!

2 Is coming to Colorow!! I am excited to share the news that Preschool will be coming to Colorow for the school year! Registration began in January 2017 and is ongoing. Families can stop by the Colorow main office for a registration packet. Visit the Colorow Preschool Website for more information. Kindergarten Registration for the school-year is ongoing. Families can contact the Colorow office at (303) for information. Please help spread the word to any families you know that will have kindergarten students next year. 4 Presenting Sponsor Kipling Villas HOA 1st Annual Colorow Elementary Home & Garden Show By our neighbors... For our neighbors Have you dreamed of a new deck, really need some painting done, windows or siding need an update? Time to get central air maybe? On March 18, 2017, Colorow Elementary School is looking forward to showcasing our first ever HOME AND GARDEN Show. This is a great opportunity for our neighbors to get a little deeper in your Home Improvement Planning or even find the right contractor. Some of the other vendors we will have on hand are: General Contractors, Garage Door Repair, Electricians and HVAC contractors, Painters, Roofers, Windows and Siding, you can even get your insurance questions answered! The event will be held from Food Trucks will also be on hand weather permitting, so plan to stay all day! Event costs $2.00 to enter for those over 18, and there will be a children s drop off area for an additional $1.00. Proceeds will go toward improving Colorow Elementary s technology, and help install a new water filtration system.
