As the regulations proliferate and stakeholder expectations increase, organizations are exposed to a greater degree of compliance risk than ever before. Specifically, compliance risk is the threat posed to a company s financial, organizational, or reputational standing resulting from violations of laws, regulations, codes of conduct, or standards of practice. With the proposed GST now around the corner, it necessitates various legal, institutional, and operational interventions. Therefore, a transition to GST would warrant high level of preparedness by the organizations and the government machineries in gearing up for changes in processes, functional reorganization of the departments, training and capacity building of officials and staff, readying the IT systems for being GST compliant, and designing awareness and communication programs for different forums. This calls for a wellcoordinated transition strategy in all, of the above areas for a smooth migration to the GST regime and making India GST ready.
