16 HSIN in Use: 2013 National Scout Jamboree Organizations: West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management; local event security and emergency response Sector: Emergency Management Date: July 15 24, 2013 Summary: HSIN used for real time information sharing to coordinate event security and emergency medical services for more than 200,000 attendees In an event of this magnitude, information sharing and communications are crucial to success. [HSIN] shared information across all levels of government and the Boy Scouts. 17 HSIN in Use: Attempted White House Perimeter Breach Organization: DHS National Operations Center (NOC) Sectors: Law Enforcement, Intelligence & Analysis and Emergency Management Date: October 3, 2013 Summary: NOC Watch officers posted Phase 1 reports to FedOps Community of Interest (COI) on HSIN with new information posted as incident developed More than 450 officials used HSIN during and after event DHS NOC uses HSIN to track and disseminate reports on every incident of significance to Law Enforcement, DHS and Emergency Management/Services Operations

18 HSIN in Use: Super Bowl XLVII Organization: USCG Sector New Orleans (SECNOLA) and Louisiana Governor s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) Sectors: Emergency Management, Defense Date: February 3, 2013 Summary: HSIN used to coordinate more than 500 law enforcement and US military personnel to ensure safety and security of more than 110,000 attendees Digital environment for collaboration with all partners for planning and real-time mission execution, in field and at Operations centers HSIN mobile application use resulted in increased security, faster transmission speeds and improved accuracy in data Positive difference in verifying reports and speeding response to power outage incident Direct communication between 500 first responders and seven operations centers New York, New Jersey, local and national authorities used HSIN to plan and monitor SB XLVIII

19 HSIN in Use: Interstate Drug Trafficking Organizations: Department of Highway Enforcement (DHE), National High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Assistance Center, California and Oregon Fusion Centers, and Illinois State Highway Patrol Sector: Law Enforcement Date: 2012 Summary: HSIN used to share information between states which led to discovery and confiscation of a significant quantity of illicit drugs HSIN fills an information sharing niche that we couldn t find anywhere else.
