2 Geospatial Management Office (GMO) DHS GMO has a Vital Mission Focused on 5 Core Areas: Build geospatial tradecraft and standard operating procedures Advances interoperability through geospatial technology and standards Delivers high quality, time sensitive, geospatial information aligned with mission requirements through information sharing agreements Provide a shared geospatial delivery architecture that hosts enterprise viewing tools, data, and analytic services/applications Promote collaborative geospatial governance and policy WHAT IS GEOSPATIAL? Maps, Information, Sensors, Imagery, Technology, Analysis, etc. that help describe the earth s surface Used pervasively throughout DHS Provides DHS: Situational Awareness Common Operating Pictures / User Defined Pictures Foundation for decision making Ability to plan and execute Helps DHS answer critical questions: Where are my adversaries? 3 HIFLD HSIP is now HIFLD Open and HIFLD Secure HIFLD Open What we used to call HSIP Freedom 274 data layers Available for the public to access and use. The website is available on Wednesday 24 Feb, the URL: HIFLD Secure What we used to call HSIP Gold Available in early summer via the DHS Geospatial Information Infrastructure (HSIN required) Will contain both the public and FOUO/Sensitive data sets. Moving Forward Make data more publicly accessible. Solicit community input into improving the data. Better integration with the Geospatial Platform and aligns with NSDI. 9 HSE GeoCONOPS FY16 Goals GOAL: IMPROVE GEOSPATIAL NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS INCREASE THE OVERALL CAPACITY AND CAPABILITY NECESSARY, AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, TO IDENTIFY AND UTILIZE GEOSPATIAL DATA, CAPABILITIES, AND RESOURCES IN ORDER TO CONDUCT HOMELAND SECURITY MISSIONS AND IMPROVE NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS. Major Tasks: Provide for the operations, maintenance and further development of the HSE GeoCONOPS content as well as the website. Need your help in capturing statewide geospatial coordination activities Advance the development of symbology standards to improve the interoperability and interpretability of national preparedness mapping products and systems. Develop and disseminate tools to facilitate a self-assessment geospatial capability to inform capability development. Provide web-based training tools to support the adoption of enterprise geospatial programs supporting homeland security and national preparedness mission.
