6 Sharing the experience/ Business pain and needs Problem addressed: High number of different data providers using heterogeneous technical solutions; To make City Managers, Businesses and Citizens aware of available urban data scattered in the city and provided by different city (data) providers. Information systems closed within siloes; Data potentially useful to deploy Nature Based solutions Customers and actors: Cities (i.e. the City Manager); Data providers (i.e. the City Provider) Citizens Companies and Start-ups that want to do business with data! (i.e. Developers/Ecosystem )

7 The CEDUS project Key words : FIWARE Digital Urban Services Decisions support Urban data City Enabler for Digital Urban Services CEDUS is an EIT Digital Cities Activity providing the City Enabler (CE), a powered by FIWARE solution for crawling, collecting, integrating and rendering on a map scattered urban data coming from a number of public and private city (data) providers. CE provides a set of tools to easily develop innovative map based urban services relying on the data collected. CEDUS makes easy the access to this city knowledge, adding value and revenues for the urban ecosystem, avoiding the vendors lock-in for customers and city lock-in (i.e. easy reusage of apps among different cities).

8 The City Enabler City Enabler is the results of the integration of a number of already existing assets. It uses 7 Generic Enablers Implementations and is compliant with OASC specs (NGSI v2) URL: Experimented in Trento (IT), Malaga (SP) and Rennes (FR)

9 The City Enabler: main functionalities City Data collection and quality assessment: Detection of data sources from the web and support in the creation of the City knowledge City Data Integration: Possibility to graphically integrate data coming from different data sources and wrap any kind of data structure in the City Enabler Fast creation of new map based Urban Services : Assisted creation of domain specific urban services relying on data collected

10 The City Enabler / City Data collection and metadata quality assessment What: Detection of data sources from the web and support in the creation of the City knowledge How: Existing Open Data platforms, Web services, devices (i.e. sensors) and microproxies can be registered in the City Enabler, metadata harvested and their quality assessed. Microproxies are specific software modules that are able to catch data from legacy systems, IoT platforms etc Tools: City data workspace: To give a single point of browsing and access of the city data IoT Device Manager: To register push and pull sensors, gather data and store them in the City Data Workspace

13 The City Enabler: City Data Integration What: Possibility to graphically integrate data coming from different data sources and wrap any kind of data structure in the City Enabler How: Different data collected in the City Data workspace can be graphically integrated and any kind of data structure wrapped into FIWARE Data Models ( A new FIWARE Data Model about Nature based solutions is about to be defined Tools: City Data Mashup Editor: To do data integration and wrapping in the City Enabler

14 City Enabler tools: City Data Mashup Editor Main functionalities Mapping of data structures (e.g. device data, open data) in NGSI v2 format Data coming from different datasources can be graphically mashed up in order to produce linked data Linked data can be stored in the City Data Workspace

15 The City Enabler: Fast creation of new map based Urban Services What: Assisted creation of domain specific urban services relying on data collected. How: Different domain specific urban services (mobility, tourism, energy, waste management, etc ) can be easily created exploiting the city data collected and normalized in NGSI v2 Tools: City Front end: To create and consume urban services for city managers and citizens

17 City Enabler for Nature based solutions Coordinated by: WP on ICT for NBS lead by: The City Enabler is going to be part of the ICT framework delivered for the UNaLab project (EU-H2020-SCC2-2016) to support: Implementation of living lab demonstration areas of naturebased solutions to enhance the climate and water resilience of cities. Creation of a robust evidence based and European framework. Solutions that are selected via co-creation with stakeholders and implemented in a in the context of an integrated urban ecological approach. Demonstration of evidence in 3 front-runner cities (Genoa, Eindhoven, Tampere) in an urban innovation ecosystem. Knowledge transfer and replication plans in follower cities.

19 Conclusions and future works Nowadays City managers often are not aware about the power of data already available in the City Stakeholders (citizens, Companies, developers, etc ) have difficulties on how to exploit the data available Powerful data can enable Nature Based solutions in cities The great amount of availability of data at urban scale and of different data providers require tools for automatic detection of available data sources The City Enabler will include, in the very near future, specific means to support the adoption of Nature based solutions
