3 Copy Guide for the imagerunner ADVANCE Introduction This guide has been designed to provide users of your new Canon imagerunner ADVANCE device(s) with all of the information needed to gain the most out of your investment. The following sections will take you through, in detail, the steps you need to take to produce high quality copies from your imagerunner ADVANCE Multi Functional Device. Additional guides are available from the Canon Customer Training and Support department, which will give you all of the information you need to take full advantage of the complete features and functionality of your device(s). 4 Copying Select the Copy option from the Home screen Place your originals in the document feeder or on the platen glass. Specify the desired copy modes on the Copy Basic Features screen. Regular Copy Basic Features The screen below, which appears when [Copy] is selected, is called the Regular Copy Basic Features screen. Press to select the colour mode for copying. Press Copy Ratio to enlarge or reduce your originals. Press Direct to make copies the same size as your original. Revised November 2010 Page 4 of 14

5 Set to automatically detect the paper size. Press to select the paper size/type and the paper source. Press to recall the last 3 copy settings used on the device. Press to Use/Register/Rename/ Delete favourite or frequently used copy settings. Press to interrupt a copy job to make priority copies Press to access special copy features. See page 7. Options Shortucts Press to select a [Options] mode. [Finishing], [2-Sided], [Density], and [Original Type] are set as default. Press to select the Collate, Group, or Staple mode. If staple mode is selected, press next to choose the position of the staple. Revised November 2010 Page 5 of 14

6 Press to make [1-Sided>2- Sided], [2-Sided>2-Sided], [2- Sided>1-Sided], or [Book>2- Sided] copies. Press the cancel key to return to 1-sided copying. Press to adjust the copy density Press to make copies according to the type of original ([Text/Photo/Map], [Printed Image], [Photo Printout], or [Text]). imagerunner ADVANCE button Press to access the imagerunner ADVANCE menu. 7 Options Screen (1 of 3) The screen below, which appears on the touch panel display when you press [Options] on the Regular Copy Basic Features screen, is called the Options screen. This screen is divided into three sections. Pressing [ ] or [ ] displays the next or previous screen. All special copy modes are displayed here. In some cases, when a mode is selected, a more detailed screen for the selected mode appears. To close the Options screen and return to the Regular Copy Basic Features screen, press [OK]. Pressing after selecting a mode displays the Tutorial screen containing guidance information. This is useful when you want to learn more about the selected mode. Some of these options have been covered previously in the guide as they have shortcuts on the Regular Copy screen. Press to select or cancel the Book>2- Pages mode. This mode enables you to copy facing pages of an opened book onto separate copy sheets. Press to make copies of several originals to form a booklet. Revised November 2010 Page 7 of 14

8 Press to select or cancel the Job Build mode. This mode enables you to divide the originals into several parts, scan them, and then print them all together. This is convenient when you cannot place all of the originals that you want to copy at one time. Press to automatically reduce two, four, or eight originals to fit onto a onesided or two-sided copy sheet. Press to add front and/or back covers on a different media type (eg card) Press to add sheet insertions, or chapter pages between specified pages using a different media type (eg coloured paper) Press to make copies feeding different size originals together in one group, by placing them in the feeder. Press to insert a sheet between each transparency when copying transparencies. You can make the same prints on the interleaf sheets as those on the transparencies. Revised November 2010 Page 8 of 14

9 Options Screen (2 of 3) The screen below appears if you press [ ] on the Options screen. Press to make color balance adjustments Press to make fine adjustments to the image quality on copies. (eg more vivid, sepia tone etc) Press to include page numbers on copies Revised November 2010 Page 9 of 14

10 Press to include copy set numbers on copies. Press to sharpen or soften the image of the original on the copy. Press to eliminate dark border areas and lines that appear around original images or shadows from binding holes. Press to include a watermark on copies (eg DRAFT) Press to include a date on copies. Press to shift the position of the original image on the copy sheet. Press to create gutters along the sides of a copy sheet. Revised November 2010 Page 10 of 14

11 Options Screen (3 of 3) The screen below appears if you press [ ] on the Options screen. Press to confirm scanned images page by page before copying when you scan originals on the platen glass. Press to make copies of the original image by inverting the hues and gradations. Press to repeatedly copy the image of an original in either the vertical or horizontal direction. 12 Press to scan multiple batches of originals with different copy settings and print them as one document. Press to have the machine notify the user through when the copy job is done. (isend settings must be activated for this option) Press to copy the original image reversed, as if it were a reflection in a mirror Press to make copies of a designated area on a page. Or to blank out the designated area. (Use Pen Entry Option) Press to copy onto the tabs on tab paper Press to store originals scanned from the Copy screen as a file in a Mail Box. Press to superimpose an image stored in memory onto the original image for copying. Revised November 2010 Page 12 of 14

13 Machine Maintenance Auto Gradation This procedure should be performed on your device at regular intervals to maintain consistent colour output. The process will take a couple of minutes to run, and will return your printer back to the best colour quality possible. 1. Press the Additional Functions button on the control panel. 2. Select the button 'Adjustment/Cleaning'. 3. Select the button 'Auto Gradation Adjustment'. 4. Select the button 'Full Adjust'. 5. Select the option for 'Test Print 1'. 6. Place the printed sheet on the printer platen as directed 7. Select the Start Scan Button 8. Remove the printed sheet from the glass and press Test Print 2 9. Place the printed sheet on the printer platen as directed 10. Select the Start Scan Button 11. Remove the printed sheet from the glass and press Test Print Place the printed sheet on the printer platen as directed 13. Select the Start Scan Button. 14. The printer will now start to adjust. 15.
