2 Sliding patio doors System swissfineline - Frameless glazing General Description and Information swissfineline is the ultimate premium sliding door and window system that fulfills the highest requirements with respect to architectural design freedom, functionality, comfort, heat and sound insulation. It has been certified by the Minergie-P the Swiss Passive House standard and is designed to hold glass element thickness of up to 54 mm. All visible aluminum profiles measure just 24 mm just under an inch which results in a 99% visible glass area! 2

3 Air, Wind, Water, Security and Sound Properties The system air permeability values are tested to meet Class 4, the driving rain resistance is classified Class 9A and resistance to wind loads Class C2/B3. Element sizes of up to 20m2 (215 sf) are possible. Combined with the swissfineline mechanism, sliding windows up to 1'200 kg (2640 lb) are possible and move automatically and almost soundlessly. In regards to safety and quietness, swissfineline can meet security Class RC2 as well as sound insulation properties up to Rw = 46 db. All specifications refer to the respective test elements and can vary depending on the model Construction and Thermal Design Features The swissfineline sliding patio doors and windows is a highly insulating aluminum metal frame system with a frameless appearance. All insulation relevant frame profiles are thermally separated. The insulation layer is completely continuous throughout the frame profile transitioning into the break in the frame profile. The frame profiles can be completely incorporated flush into the floor, walls and ceiling. The sliding sash frame elements are countersunk completely flush in the floor, wall and ceiling frame. Only the narrow (24mm less than an inch) trailing door stile remains visible. Maximum Dimensions and Weight The maximum surface area for triple-insulated glass in a fixed element or sliding panels is 20 m2 (215sf). The maximum size of glass width/height is 3100mm (10 2 ). The element sizes determine the glass specification, the installation situation and the use of structural configuration and size of the vertical mullion. The maximum sliding panel weight is 1,200 kg. For panel weights above 300kg (650lbs), a motorized solution is highly recommended. 4 Sash Profile - Trailing Door Stile and Rail The minimum, sharp-edged stile and rail profiles are made from extruded aluminum profiles (EN AW 6060 T66). The insulators are made from fiberglass reinforced, omega shaped polyamide insulating strips (PA 66 GF 25) and ensure proper thermal separation as an integral part of the whole system. Brush seals maintain air and water tightness and are a part of the water drainage system. Combining the aluminum profiles with the insulators and the use of a tackifying smelting process produces a high-strength, very precise profile bond. These profiles are suitable for subsequent surface treatment at temperatures up to 200 C for a duration of 15 minutes. Bonding to the panel profile allows the smallest possible edge seal to be used while maintaining a very high performance. Almost any glass properties can be specified from the typical u-value, solar heat gain and light transmittance to the project specific sound, impact, security, UV-protection, anti-glare, anti-bird strike, and more. Finish In the standard finish of all metal system components are technically colorless, anodized in a matte natural color ( E6/EV1 ). The neutral appearance fits simply into the surroundings, reflecting the swissfineline philosophy of frameless glazing. All metal system components can be powder-coated and anodized in different designs. Some colors influence the system performance and/or user comfort and may have added project specific considerations. For example dark colors in strong sunlight impact the profile expanding parameter and as such, dark surfaces create excessive thermal metal profile expansion. Hardware and Technical Components The roller hardware are thermally separate and countersunk roller tracks with high-quality stainless steel ball bearings and a brass sliding channel guarantee ease of use. Depending on project specific system configurations and user requirements, a variety of technical components can be added such as: manual or electronic locking systems, motorization, security systems, building automation system, integrated insect screens and more. Seals The system sliding elements seals consist of continuous brush seals with an additional foam seal at the threshold. The system s fixed elements are sealed by the EPDM glazing system. Frame Assembly The frame is assembled by bolting corner brackets to the frame channel profiles along with a sealing membrane to ensure air and water tightness. 4

5 Threshold The threshold construction incorporates an integrated water/moisture drainage design to the exterior of the frame. On both the interior and exterior, sufficient surface on the frame and sub-frame is provided to adhere a moisture/water membrane system. The continuing insulated sub-frame is used to connect the threshold frame to the building and allows for different height configurations. The minimum recommended overall threshold height is 130mm (5.12 ). Corner Designs The swissfineline sliding patio doors and windows allow fixed or movable corner design. A fixed corner can either be two fixed elements or a true glass corner. Two sliding elements can build a corner opening without a corner support. Options Additional services are listed in the relevant positions of the specifications. Additional Security - RC2 (EN 1627) swissfineline offers the possibility to add additional security components like integrated locking tested by IFT Rosenheim meeting resistance category RC2 (EN 1627) along with safety glass VSG P4A (EN 356) to the system. Motor Drive A concealed motor drive with dead man s control is available for most door/window configuration including corner condition weighing up 1,200 kg. Building Management and Security System Concealed integration of building management and security systems into the swissfineline range from simple to sophisticated. Possibilities include a frame monitor position or a window open/closed position, an integrated alarm loops notification of broken glass, or other more sophisticated client s alarm or building management system requirements. Ventilation Function with Lock Monitoring Sliding doors/windows can also be used for ventilation purposes by using the gap ventilation function. This option is part of the motorized system control two-stage function and will open the door/window by 80mm (3.15 ) and secure it with intrusion-proof locking. Insect Screen swissfineline provides an integrated plisse insect screen for the sliding doors/windows up to a maximum opening of 3.50m (11 5 ) that is invisible when closed. Railing swissfineline glass railing with its laminated safety glass can be integrated with the sliding doors/windows system to achieve a true French Balcony.
