2 Introduction: I recently released a large group of my video backgrounds that work perfectly with Green Screen, but they were intended to be used for a variety of purposes, including: As a background to powerpoint presentations As a background for voice over work As a background for info-graphic videos As YouTube videos that can be branded with your company name As YouTube videos that can be outfitted with clickable links right on the video As FULL SCREEN Videos in YouTube (neat trick) As sales page backgrounds As squeeze page backgrounds As elements inside a video package Virtually unlimited uses actually, but I will go over as many as I can here, with links to appropriate video training from me and others below. 3 Loading Videos to Youtube: Although there are numerous video sites including Vimeo and others, Youtube is the 2nd most visited search engine in the world at last check (second to Google) and should be the first place you upload your videos to, if you would like to give them exposure. But what KIND of videos can you make from static (stationary camera) motion videos? There are some great ideas below, but first, here is how to load your video to Youtube, and other great information straight from Google on this page: As a background to Powerpoint type presentations You can load your videos in Powerpoint (and many of the other presentation software) as a background to your written material. This will set your presentation apart. Microsoft offers instructions on how to do that here: eo-as-a-background-for-your-slides-ha aspx You can also add music, or voice-overs that you make, or you have someone else make for you to that very Powerpoint presentation. 3

4 Here s how to add sound: -insert-background-music-in-powerpoint-2010/ You may be starting to realize that you can make ultrabeautiful videos just with powerpoint and a voice-over that reads the powerpoint. I actually do that as a service (voice over work) at a ridiculously low cost considering my professional background in TV and Radio. 5 Videos as backgrounds to info-graphic videos. Overlaying still pictures onto videos is great, and easy with most video editors.. Windows Movie Maker is NOT included in the list of editors that will do this as of the last time I checked. However, my colleague Joshua just came out with an online service that will allow you to make and place graphics and text on your videos, for both Macs and PCs. Check it out here: Although I m working on a Mac (Camtasia Mac) in the following example, the basics are the same in almost any good video editor that allows overlaying layers. You can see how important it is, in general, to have this simple skill: 5

6 Branding your videos with your Company Name Let s face it, there is some fancy amateur video editing going on on Youtube that you or I will never be able to match. However, starting with the basics, you can edit your video so that your company name is already visible all the time (or for whatever length of time you want) on top of your video... Add a little music, perhaps a picture of your company or storefront plus maybe sprinkle in a voice-over and voila! a complete description of your company! You can also tell the story by adding text to your background videos as well. However, the EASIEST thing to do, that doesn t even require a video editor at all, is to take your video backgrounds, upload them to Youtube and then edit them with annotations right inside Youtube itself. You ll be doing the editing online! You will therefore achievemuch the same effect without needing the software on your home computer! Here are extensive directions from Google: Approximately late 2012, Youtube added the ability to make those annotations link to more than just other videos. Wait until you learn about making CLICKABLE links 6

7 right on your Youtube videos, without needing to host it on an outside site... The Amazing Youtube Clickable Links Want to have a video lead BACK to your website or blog? Well one of the coolest ways to use beautiful static background videos, like the ones you can find here: to not only upload the videos and spruce them up with annotations like just described, but to actually put interactive links on the videos that can lead to your website or blog. Ray Lane and I recently wrote a very short description of what to do, based off of his masterful video series Youtube Interactive. Our write up is right here, below: 7

8 How to Advertise Your Website within YouTube videos (directly ON YouTube!) by Ray Lane and Todd Gross DISCLAIMER THIS DOCUMENT IS ACCURATE WHEN WRITTEN IN EARLY 2014, HOWEVER THERE ARE CONSTANT CHANGES AND PARTIAL-CHANGES THAT YOUTUBE MAKES THAT COULD RENDER ANY OR ALL OF THIS DOCUMENT INACCURATE AT ANY TIME One of the coolest changes that YouTube made in early 2013 was they began to allow users to actually put clickable links inside their videos. No, I m not talking about removing the video from YouTube and adding clickable links on a separate site, I m talking about clickable links that lead to your website right on the YouTube videos themselves INSIDE YouTube! 8

9 Here I will present a summary of Ray The Video Guy s first 3 videos in his superb video-product called YouTube Interactive, which you can also purchase here, if you d like more detailed instructions and further knowledge on how to make your videos interactive. Here s the link if you d like that additional help, it is really superb, and I only scratch the surface here.. Ok, the first thing you need to do, once you have set up a YouTube channel, is to go to Video Manager - Uploads - Channel Settings - Features. Then click on Enable Monetization This will allow you to become a partner with Google where YouTube is concerned.. 9

10 Next click on Verify and follow the account verification process, such as receiving a number on your cell phone that you will plug in. One you are verified as requesting partnership, go to Channel Settings - External Annotations. Here is a screen-shot that shows what you will see: 10

11 Go to the Associated Website tab as shown on the left.. If there is a tab that says Advanced instead of Associated Website, then YouTube has you set up the old way and you ll have to purchase YouTube Interactive, the Video Set, for $10 to learn how to get around that. (see the link at the end) Ok, after clicking on that Associated Website tab, you will put in the website that you are going to use to send people to. You then will have to verify that website (prove it is yours) by doing the standard Google routine, on the Google Webmaster page where you will be sent. This involves moving a little file that they provide to your server to prove that indeed you have the ability to access your website. Next, and this is the fun part, go to My Video Manager - Edit - Annotation. The video you use, should already have a graphic on it somewhere, that you will be intending people to click on. It may say click me or it can be an image of any kind that 11

12 will coax people to click that particular area on your video at a certain time. Now, click on Add Annotation, on your right. Then add a Spotlight annotation which will be placed in space & time exactly where that image is that you intend folks to click! Make sure to then click on Associated Website (on the right) and add a directory from your website that you would like to bring people to when they click on that spotlight annotation that you just created. That s it, you are all set. When people click on your link, they will go to your website! 13 The fun doesn t stop there. Another colleague of mine, Clive McGonigal, has taken this one step further with a membership that is a little bit more expensive, but includes a full suite of Youtube tools including many graphics to use as the interactive buttons, so to speak. Well then you will LOVE this really cool TRICK that will allow you to send the videos to people FULL SCREEN, so that it will capture their attention completely with no distractions. That will also make those interactive links, or the branding on your video even larger and harder to miss. I ll send you to my instructions on that, and you ll see a working example of it as well, just click the play button when you get to the full-screen youtube video here: 13

14 Notice that that was hosted right on youtube, I didnt even have to put it into a player to go full screen like that. No website was needed. VIDEOS AS SALES & SQUEEZE PAGE BACKGROUNDS Videos can be used as sales page backgrounds, and many.html editors will allow you to create pages with motion video backdrops. If you dont have the websitecreating tools to do this, you can probably find someone easily on Fivver.com or any of the outsourcing websites like odesk.com A great example of a recent Wordpress Plugin that allows you to make squeeze-pages with any Youtube video as a background to the page is Derrick Van Dyke s WP Optin Elite 3.0. 15 As of last check, Derrick was actually using one of the backgrounds from my Video Vault, in fact, on that very sales page of WP OPTINS ELITE 3.0 That IS ironic, since we just discussed it here for the way it allows users to make optin-pages (squeeze pages) as well with these kinds of static ( static meaning the camera is stationary) motion videos. Of course, to load your video onto Youtube just follow my instructions at the beginning of this document! 15

16 BACKGROUND VIDEOS AS PART OF A PACKAGE, OR AS A TRANSITION I would like to close by pretty much stating the obvious: Motion background videos can be used as elements of your video masterpiece, or package, as we would say in Television reporting. It can also be used as a pattern interrupt (attention getter), or transition from one scene to another in your video work. A really great example of this wasn t hard to find since my wife watches Keeping up with the Kardashian s, and these kind of transitions are used heavily in reality TV shows. I found this video on Daily Motion, and you can see the same kind of static video scenes that we have been discussing, put in quick succession to lead from one segment of the show to another. 17 h-the-kardashians-s08e10-opa_shortfilms..you can see the show change scenes between 9:44 and 9:52 with these four video clips quickly shown to the viewer: Distant speeding boats Windmill Docked boats Grass What was the purpose of these 4 videos? 1.It told the story of where the show was taking place 2.It allowed a smooth transition from an indoor scene to and outdoor scene without feeling any inappropriate change in direction. 17

18 3.It catches the viewer s attention so as to keep the show from feeling stagnant. Again, this is just one example that I found right off the bat of how motion background videos can be used in an overall work. If you don t have a membership to a service that provides these kind of backgrounds, and you are interested in using them for Green Screen use, or anything else as outlined here, then feel free to visit: and pick up my Video Vault to use as backgrounds. I just did a search around the web and saw some of my favorite backgrounds already being used extensively from that collection! So, how do you make a video part of the overall package? EASY! 18

19 Almost any video editor, free or paid, will allow you to run video clips in order. You just cut the videos at the proper start and end points, and run them on the video timeline in order. Then when you render the overall project, they will run one after another after another just as you intended. In fact, this is so simple, that I hope you aren t over-thinking it. Just take the videos clips,and put them together as if you were a DJ running one CD after another at a party! 19
