If the project is not replacing anything then why is this needed? How will this benefit the course and students? How many students will this affect in total? What is the expected lifespan of the equipment? The computers in the lab have 128GB Solid State Drives (SSD). The original hardware was identical to ECF s, but they swapped their 128GB SSD s for 250GB models last summer. The ECFPC lab image is now over 150GB and has to be trimmed (i.e. programs have to be uninstalled) to fit the available disk space which limits the number of courses that can be taught in the lab. As the image grows as it does every year it will be more and more difficult to decide what programs to keep. The whole point of the ECF Category B labs is that they provide an environment identical to that of ECF in a departmental lab, but we re no longer able to offer the complete ECF suite of programs.
