3 INTRODUCTION 1. Start Date This guide will become effective August 1 st, Major Differences and Benefits The new process for BLS, ACLS and PALS book checkout includes the following changes: 1. Online Requests: Martin Health System (MHS) Associates may now order books online via the Clinical Education Site on Martin Link (see Part 1). 2. No Paperwork: An online request eliminates the need for paper trails or logs to be maintained. a. Associates: No longer fills out paper logs at volunteer desks to check out books. 3. Personal Book Delivery: Books will be delivered via Interoffice Mail directly to the associate based on the desired location typed while creating the online request. a. Associates: No longer picks up books at volunteer desks. Only drop offs will be made at the volunteer desks (see Part 3). 4. Tracking: With online requests, the location of each book will be accurately and efficiently tracked. a. Associates: Must adhere to checkout timeframes to avoid being charged for the book in their possession (see Part 3, Number 3). 5. 4 Part 1 CREATING REQUESTS ON MARTIN LINK 1. Martin Link Home Page On the Martin Link Home Page click the Clinical Education Site (under Departments) 2. Clinical Education Site On the Clinical Education Site click the EMC (BLS, ACLS, and PALS) Site Page 4 of 8

5 3. Checkout Options Click on one of the request options (ACLS, BLS or PALS): 4. Request Form Fill the Request Form s required fields. Page 5 of 8

6 Required Fields for Associates *: *Request Date: Date the associate makes request. Associates cannot request books more than two (2) weeks prior to class date. *Associate Full Name: Associates type full name and if it is not identified they can use the browse button to find their names on active directory. *Associate ID Number: 5 Digit Number *Associate Mobile Number: 10 Digit Number with area code and no dashes (-) *Associate Location: Can choose from 3 Hospital Locations or type in another location by specifying your own value. This is the location the book will be sent via interoffice mail *Associate Department: The department the associate is a part of *Book Number: Choices for book numbers that are available appear in this drop down for associates to choose from *Class Date: The date that the associate is scheduled to take the class Page 6 of 8

7 Part 2 RECEIVING BOOKS 1. Retrieval method All books will be sent via interoffice envelope to the location typed in the form by the associate in their online request (see Part 1, Number 4). Page 7 of 8

8 Part 3 RETURNING BOOKS 1. Book Return Timeframe Books must be returned within two (2) weeks of class completion date. Books returned past this timeframe will be charged to the associate (See Part 3 Number 3). 2. Drop Off Location Books may be dropped off with the volunteers at the front lobby of any of our three hospital locations (North, South, or TMC). Volunteers will place in designated clear bin that will be collected by a Clinical Education or Clinical Development team member. 3. Late Returns Associates that return books passed the two (2) week timeframe will have the amount, as applicable, below deducted from their paycheck.
