2 Overview Postini is Websight Design s (WSD) spam and virus filtering service. All accounts hosted by WSD are filtered through Postini. It is an extremely powerful service from the industry-leader, Google. It is important to understand the features of Postini and how to customize the tool to meet your security needs. If not customized properly, s you want receive promptly could be held up by your Postini filter. This could mean hours before you see important s. Please read this document carefully to understand how this tool works and how to customize to your needs. Your Postini Username and Password Prior to your site going live, WSD will set up your Postini account and send you an with your account information. Postini uses your full address as your username, but for security reasons, it uses a password that is independent from your current password. Postini randomly assigns a password through the account creation system and will the password to you when your account has been set up by WSD. You will have the opportunity to change your password when you log in. Recovering Your Postini Password If you have lost your Postini password, it can be recovered quickly and easily by doing the following: 1. Open your web browser and navigate to

6 Logging Into Postini You will need log into your Postini account to do the following: View s held by Postini (Quarantine) Approve a sender s address Block a sender s address Change filter levels Change your password To log into Postini, follow the steps below: 1. Open your web browser and navigate to

7 Logging Into Postini (continued) 2. Enter your Log in Address (full address) and password.. If you do not know your password, see the Recovering Your Postini Password section of this document. 3. Checking the Remember my Address and Password check box should only be selected on private computers to which only you have access. If this checkbox is chosen, anyone will be able to login without re-entering the username and password.

8 Logging Into Postini (continued) 4. Click the green LOG IN button.

9 Viewing Postini Quarantine After you log into Postini, the screen below will appear. This is a list of all the s being held in your Postini Quarantine. If you are missing an in your inbox that you expected to receive, this is where you would go first to determine if the was held up by your Postini Account. You can view this list by date (default) or sort the list by Sender (From), Subject or Block Reason. It is very easy to approve the sender of a particular (so no future s are held in Quarantine) and to deliver the to your mailbox immediately. If you don t view this list, Postini will send you an once a day for you to view any s in your Quarantine list.

10 Delivering Messages You may select the s you want to deliver by placing a check in the checkbox next to the and pressing the Deliver button to the far-right. This will deliver the message to your account.

11 Delivering Messages (continued) After delivering a quarantined message, you will have the option to approve the sender. After Postini delivers the , the screen below will display. Click the check box under the Approve Sender column then press the Approve Selected Senders button at the bottom of the screen. s from the selected sender will no longer be held by your Postini Account unless you choose to block the sender at a later date (see how to block a sender later in this document).

12 Accessing Your Postini Settings Your Postini Settings determine from which senders you want to receive s and the strength of your Postini filter. After you have logged into your Postini account you will have the Message Center Junk Quarantine window displayed. Click the My Settings link in the top-right of the window to access the My Setting access area.

13 Approving Sender The My Settings screen will appear. To approve a sender, do the following: 1. Click the Approve Senders link found under the Junk Settings section.

14 Approving Sender (continued) 2. The screen below will appear. The text box on the left is the approved senders list. You can add addresses directly to this list by typing the address into the box. After you have finished press the Update Approved Senders button below the text box.

15 Approving Sender (continued) 3. If there are certain domains or mailing lists you also want to approve, enter the domain name or mailing list name directly into the text boxes provided and hit the Update buttons below each box.

16 Blocking a Sender To block a particular sender or group of senders follow the steps below: 1. Click the Block Senders link found under the Junk Settings group of options. 2. The text box on the left is the blocked senders list. You can add addresses directly to this list by typing the address into the text box and clicking the Update Blocked Senders button.

17 Blocking a Sender (continued) 3. The text box on the right is the blocked domains list. You can add domains directly to this list. After you have finished press the Update Blocked Domains below the text box.

18 Changing Filter Levels To change the filter levels on your account, follow the steps below: 1. Click the Manage Junk Filters link found under the Junk Settings group of options.

19 Changing Filter Levels (continued) 2. You can disable or enable the Junk Blocking by clicking the green link. This link will change to ACTIVATED or DEACTIVATED. Please be careful with this option.

20 Changing Filter Levels (continued) 3. You can change the overall junk filter setting to Lenient, Normal, Strict, Aggressive, and Very Aggressive. WSD will set your filter setting to Normal unless otherwise specified. You may also change the specific filter settings by clicking on the Category Filters link. This option allows you to filter specific categories of Junk Sexually Explicit, Get Rich Quick, Special Offers, and Racially Insensitive.

21 Changing Filter Levels (continued) 4. See the screen that displays when the Category Filter link is chosen. WSD uses the default setting of +2 which provides the most effective filtering. 5. Click the Save Settings button after you have made your changes. Any changes made to this area will go into affect instantly.

22 Changing Postini Password To change your Postini Password, follow the steps below: 1. Click the Change Password link under the Personal Settings group.

23 Changing Postini Password (continued) 2. Enter your old Postini account password first. 3. Enter your new Postini password twice to confirm. Please note that the password requirements are posted to the right of this field, and must be met to make the password acceptable. 4. Press the Save Changes button. 5. Press the Continue button and make sure to make a note of the new password.
