1 FINE ARTS FESTIVAL 2018 INFO PACKET 2018 Potomac FAF Registration Packet Thank you for taking the time to register for Potomac Fine Arts Festival Fine Arts will be held April 20th & 21st, 2018 in Lutherville, MD at Trinity Life. Included in this packet: - Directions for online registration - National FA Information - New to Fine Arts for District hotel information - Fine Arts conduct code - Guide to area restaurants and lodging - District FA registration form REGISTRATION (ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY) Register online at: potomacyouth.com (Detailed information on page 2) All online registrations must be paid by credit card. (This system is secure and requires the Youth Pastor/Leader or FAF Coordinator to sign in.) COST PER PARTICIPANT: $35 registration fee $15 per category. (I.e. $50 per student for 1 category ) REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 13TH! (Online registrations must be completed by 11:59pm, February 13, 2018) Late registration deadline is February 20th. There will be a $35 late fee assessed per student. (Max of $210 per church) (Late registrations must be completed by 11:59pm, February 20th, 2018) All Writings, Short Films, Mini Sagas must be submitted and ed to info@potomacyouth.com by February 20th, No paper entries of Writings will be accepted. Short Films must submit a public or unlisted YouTube URL. The URL must be ed to: info@potomacyouth.com with Fine Arts 2018 & the category entered as the subject line immediately following online registration. * NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER February 20th, Once Late Registration closes, we will send out a final confirmation to the FA Coordinator via the address that is listed on the online registration that was provided by the FA Coordinator for each church. If you do not receive your confirmation , please us at info@potomacyouth.com to re-send the confirmation . EVERY YEAR THERE ARE NEW CATEGORIES ADDED AND CHANGES TO THE EXISTING ONES. DON T BE PENALIZED FOR RULE VIOLATIONS IN WHICH YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE. 3 From the National FA office NEW for the The Location for the 2018 National Fine Arts Festival is Houston, TX Dates: July 30 - August 3, 2018 Location: George R. Brown Convention Center 1001 Avenida De Las Americas Houston, TX Website: Housing: Please visit Registration and Deadlines: the postmark/fax deadline is May 18, Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. (CDT) on June 1, Visit See pages 12 through 14 of rulebook for complete detailed information. 2. The following categories have had rule changes: Songwriting - rules regarding accompaniment and lyric sheets Songwriting, Modern Hymn - rules regarding accompaniment and lyric sheets Art - rules regarding framing Dance - rules regarding apparel and presentation time limits Writing and Film Categories - delivery instructions have changed Flash Fiction - new word count rule American Sign Language categories - new presentation rule 3. Submission guidelines have been changed for writing and film categories. We no longer use a pre-festival upload system. All writing and film entries for the NFAF must be hand-delivered to the Art/Film/Writing check-in booth by the student or a representative of the student following the completion of on-site check in on Monday, July 30, 2018, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. For more information on the number of entries for each category please see the individual category rules. 4. There has been a name change to First Person Essay. It is now called Creative Fiction/Memoir. 5. We now have a NEW division in the Fine Arts Festival: The Enterprise Division with one new category entitled "Business Plan." Please see the rules for this new division and category starting on page 56 of the rulebook and the accompanying links to templates which can be used for this new category. Take the time to read the NFAF 18 Rule Book! There are changes that may affect you. Potomac Youth Network will follow all guidelines set forth by the National Fine Arts Festival.

5 1. Each individual is expected to maintain exemplary Christian behavior, including respect for all property and leadership (PYN staff, church staff, security, etc.) 2. All bags, including purses, are subject to be searched by security. 3. Absolutely no food or drink in any building/sanctuary, with the exception of bottled water. 4. The balcony in the main sanctuary is closed until the Celebration service. 5. Keep building and grounds clean. Pick up after yourself. 6. No chewing gum is permitted on either campus. 7. No standing on the pews or chairs; no sitting on tables. 8. Restrooms are to be used responsibly and should there be a problem, please report it to the church staff as quickly as possible. 9. No loitering, standing, or practicing in the hallways or walk ways. Please use the tent area outside to socialize. 10. ONE WAY hallways are just that...one WAY! 11. Keep ALL hallway noise to a minimum. Remember students are trying to minister. 12. Do not enter a performance room, including the sanctuary, until the door monitors have opened the doors for entrance. 13. Any disputes or conflicts may be resolved only by designated personnel determined by PYN. 14. I understand that should I miss my scheduled performance time, other than a PYN scheduling conflict, I forfeit my time to perform. 15. I understand that I am to wear my Fine Arts participant wristband at all times on my wrist. Replacements are $15 each, including non-participants. 16. No alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, knives, or weapons of any kind will be tolerated. Possession will result in immediate dismissal and disqualification of the entire group. 17. Obey all security and crossing guards. Obey all parking lot speed limits & caution areas. Violation of this conduct code will result in the entire group being disqualified, and the senior pastor receiving a phone call.

13 Non-Participant Tickets Will Be Sold ONLINE ONLY for 2018 TO PURCHASE FINE ARTS NON-PARTICIPANT TICKETS: $17 per ticket (No fees added at checkout this year) * All students and leaders (including youth pastor) must have a ticket. *Ages 8 and under do not need tickets. There is a limited number of non-participant tickets available. They will be sold to churches only on a first come basis. It will be the responsibility of the church to disburse the wristbands accordingly. There will be NO individual orders accepted. You will receive a confirmation once your order has been processed.
