3 TEAM CAPTAIN CHECK LIST Post this somewhere you will see every day. Be sure to check off your accomplishments! SET A RECRUITMENT GOAL My Goal : Team members. Team captains have shared with us that having at least 6 members on your team forges team spirit, generates new and creative fundraising ideas, and of course allows your team to increase your fundraising efforts. Or, if you re a corporate team, at least 20% of your workforce creates the same momentum. HOST A TEAM KICKOFF MEETING Can t all meet in person? No worries! Have an e-meeting. Introduce each other either in an or on a conference call. PERSONALIZE YOUR PARTICIPANT CENTER After you ve started or reformed your team, be sure to personalize your fundraising page through the Participant Center. It s easy to use, allows you to support your team in their fundraising efforts, communicate with team members and encourages team spirit. What a difference it makes. Last year, 93% of Race donations were made online through participant pages! SEND S FROM YOUR PARTICIPANT CENTER Log in to recruit and manage team members, request donations, and download fundraising resources. Use our prepared templates or create your own. SET A TEAM FUNDRAISING GOAL My Goal :_$ Fundraising dollars. Aim big but keep it realistic. Ask each team member to commit to fundraising. Last year, the average fundraising participant raised more than $100. FUNDRAISE FROM YOUR FACE- BOOK PAGE Social media is a great tool to recruit team members and donors. Create a group on your Facebook and get your friends and family in on the action. Encourage your group to share their personal stories about breast cancer or Race. You ll be connecting people not only to our mission but to each other as well! ASK YOUR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT ABOUT YOUR COMPA- NY S MATCHING GIFT PROGRAM Be sure and have each of your team members do the same. This is an easy way to double your donations at no cost to you or your donor. SHARE COMMUNICATIONS FROM KOMEN East Central Texas Your team craves communication from you. Be sure to share all communications you receive from us with your team. Have everyone like our FB and Twitter page for updates. LOG IN/PASSWORD ISSUES: Call the Komen for help. No, but online registration saves you time. If members of your team register by paper form, the captain is responsible for collecting forms, ensuring the correct registration fee is attached, confirming the form is signed and turning them in at the same time. Online registration also allows each team member to establish a personalized online fundraising page, set a goal and start fundraising early to help end breast cancer forever! I registered but my team isn t showing up on the website. What happened? Please give the system up to 24 hours for any transaction. If after that time it is still missing please contact us at with your team name and confirmation number. Yes; however, they must pick up packets for the entire team. Please notify all the team members to prevent duplicate pickup. If someone made a donation but didn t indicate it was to be credited to a specific team, or individual on a team, can the donation be moved to the team or individual? 1. The donor needs to request the donation to be moved. Call If the donation was made at the time of registration, the person will need to be added to the Team for their donation to be credited to the team fundraising. Our company wants to pay the registration fee or part of the fee for the employees. How do we set that up? Contact the Komen office (dgay@komeneastcentraltexas.org or ) before you register anyone on your team. We can assign a company code for billing purposes. Please note there is a form to complete which is available on the Team Page.
10 FAQ FOR TEAM MEMBERS Can I register for more than one team? No, the system does not allow for multiple team registrations by an individual participant; however, you can donate to as many different teams and individuals as you wish. Can you guarantee my T-Shirt size? Despite our best efforts, sometimes we do run out of certain sizes. This is one reason we strongly recommend you register as many team members as possible by the deadline so that you may qualify for early Team packet pickup. Can I bring my Skateboard? Bicycle? Stroller? No. No. Yes. For the safety of all participants, skateboards, skates and bicycles are not allowed on the Race course. Strollers, wheelchairs and service animals are always welcome! We ask that people with strollers stay to the back of the crowds to avoid interfering with timed runners. Can I bring my dog? Yes. We just ask that you come prepared to clean up after your pets.. Do I have to collect donations? We rely on donations to provide local life saving programs. Contributions are tax deductible. You and your team can also win prizes while helping raise funds for a cure. However, your entry fee is all that is required. How do I submit donations? Submit donations by credit card online. All checks and cash donations must be submitted with a donation form. Please make checks payable to Komen East Central Texas. Checks may be mailed (PO Box 6217, Tyler, TX., 75711), hand-delivered (2911 Herring Ave. #204, Waco, TX ) or submitted at Packet Pickup or on Race day at the Registration Tent
