If you re not in your home, you re going to need to jot down your Skinny Broadband Number and Verification Code before you go and create your account. These codes can be found on the bottom of your modem, see Step 1.4 for an illustration. 1.1 Open an internet browser and type in: skinny.co.nz/register/ 1.2 Select the orange GET STARTED NOW button. This will take you to the Sign up to Skinny page. 1.3 To activate your modem select Broadband. This will show a new section to enter your modem details. 1.4 Type in your Skinny Broadband Number and Verification Code. Then select Activate. TIP You can find these on the bottom of your modem, see illustration below. 3 1.5 Type in the required fields, which are your First name, Last name and address, or sign up using Facebook or Google. If you don t have an address, turn to page five. 1.6 You need to choose a password and enter it into the two fields. 1.7 Once you have read the Skinny terms, tick the box and click SIGN UP. 1.8 Now that your modem has been activated, to complete the registration you will need to validate the account. 2

4 1.9 Open a new browser window and go to your inbox. You will find an from Skinny requesting you to verify your account. If you can t find it in your inbox, check your spam mail folder Open the and click on the click here link, a new page will load and your account will be activated You will then be automatically directed to your Skinny dashboard. Your 30GB Data will already be loaded on your account. Your broadband modem is now ready to be connected. 3

Step 2: Activate your modem 2.1 Connect the black cable to the modem and plug it into a power outlet. 2.2 Wait 15 seconds for the lights to come on. The Network Mode symbol will change from red to blue when connected. The best connection is when all three bars in the Signal Strength are lit. TIP Try putting it near a window for better signal. Step 3: Connect your devices There are two ways you can connect your modem: Wireless connection Open the WiFi settings on your device and select the network that matches the SSID label on the bottom of your modem. You ll then be asked to enter a password, this is on the bottom of your modem and is labelled WIFI KEY. Wired connection Alternatively, you can connect one end of your yellow cable (LAN) to the modem and the other end to a computer to get connected to the internet. 6 How to: Set up an address Here s how to set up an address to complete step 1.3, under Creating a Skinny account. You will need access to the internet. If you need to, go to a public library, school or a place where there is internet available for you to use. Remember to take this guide with you. 1. Open an internet browser and type in: accounts.google.com/signup 2. This will open the Create your Google Account page. 3. Fill in the information about yourself in the form fields. 5

7 4. Select Next step. This will open the Privacy and Terms window. Read through the terms and select I AGREE. 5. You should now see the Welcome page. This means that your address has been set up, click Continue to go to your inbox. You can now turn to page one to create a Skinny account. 6

8 Topping up your account Just like a mobile, you will need to top up your data when it runs out. You can top up your Skinny account in two ways: Buy a Skinny top up voucher 1. You can buy Skinny vouchers at various places like dairies, petrol stations and supermarkets. 2. You will need $10 to buy a 30GB data plan, so ask for a $10 Skinny voucher. 3. Head over to and login to your Skinny dashboard. 4. Select the Top up tab, enter the voucher number(s) and click confirm to top up your account. OR Use debit/credit card online 1. Head to and login to your Skinny dashboard then go to settings and click Stored debit/credit card and then click Add card. 2. Enter your card details and choose a 4 digit code. This will be used every time you top up your account, so make sure you remember it! 3. You can also set your account to Auto top up so that you can set and forget! Buy the 30GB data plan Head to and login to your Skinny dashboard, go to the Combos tab, then find Spark Jump 30 GB and click the top-up button. You ll automatically get 30GB of data added to your account, which is valid for 30 days. Great, you re all done! Need help?
