Make sure you log out before stepping away from the computer. When printing pages from Student Self Service, use Landscape. This will ensure that the entire page will print. 1
LOGIN TO SELF SERVICE 2. Click the Icon and select Sign In 1. Go to Engage.BerkeleyCollege.edu 3. Select the Self-Service Icon 2. Click the 4. Login with your Berkeley College username and password, then click Sign In 2
STUDENT CENTER The Student Center is a 360 overview of information that is important to you. It is a single point of entry from which to begin your navigation. It contains your class schedule, enrollment dates, account information, holds, to-do s, web links, etc. 3
MAP (My Academic Plan) Access your MAP by selecting My Academic Plan from the drop down list below. 4
Your MAP outlines all requirements and courses required to compete your program and graduate. Any questions concerning your MAP should always be discussed with your Academic Advisor. Use your MAP as a guide when building your schedule and registering online. 5
Degree Map Degree Map is a tool that allows you to plan out your academic career at Berkeley College. You can plan which terms you would like to take which courses. You can then use that as a more precise guide to build your schedule in College Scheduler each term. It also provides in-depth degree progress as to what requirements/courses are remaining for degree completion. Selecting Degree Map will take you to the Degree Map site. It will present you with the Berkeley College login page. Please use your username and password to connect to the site. After successfully logging in you will be in your Degree Map. 6
Degree Progress and Planning Over all progress toward completing all of your requirements. Displays your progress toward your degree requirements (first bar) and displays your progress toward your major requirements (second bar). Displays more detailed information regarding specific requirements necessary for graduation. 7
Degree Planning Filter allows you to only display requirements defined here. Contains your degree requirements and major course requirements. Displays terms you can plan courses for. This will display all courses taken, attempted, inprogress or planned. To plan a course expand either your degree or major area. This will display the different requirements and from there you can plan your courses. 8
To plan a course, select your term and click Plan. You have just planned on when you want to take a course. Please note this is NOT registering for a course. You can plan as many courses as you would like. If you want to plan for a different requirement, click done and expand that requirement and start planning again. Once the class is planned it will be added under the term you selected. You should pay attention to any alerts. These are informative messages regarding course requirements. This will help you in your planning as you many need to take a prerequisite course prior to the term you are planning to take your recently planned course. See example on left. 9
Explore Degrees Explore degrees allows you to view other degree/major options at Berkeley College as well as compare those degrees/majors against the progress of your current degree. Of course always speak with your Academic Advisor regarding any changes. You can search by typing the major you are interested in viewing or you can use the compare tab and pick from a list. Once you select a major to view, it will take a few seconds to load the data and will say Calculating. Once finished, it will return what the major will look like for you based on the courses you have already taken at Berkeley College. 10
Explore Careers Explore Careers allows you to see job demand and salaries at the local and national levels for your current major. You can search for other careers either by typing in or searching the career category. You can also set a career goal for yourself. This will then be stored on the profile page. 11
Profile Profile page displays general personal information about you, academic information and your course history information. It also displays what career goal, if any, you set for yourself. 12
VERIFY ELIGIBILITY TO REGISTER Before you register for classes you need to check 2 items: 1. Do you have holds that prevent self-registration? 2. When can you start registering? 1a. Check if you have Holds. If you do, click details. (See more information below.) 1b. Click the link in the Hold Item to see how the hold impacts registration. 13
1c. Follow the instructions to remedy your hold. Click Return to go back to the hold details to check any other holds you may have on your account. 2. Check the Enrollment Date to see when you can start registering for classes. If you have no holds that prevent registration, you can register online as soon as your enrollment appointment begins! 14
REGISTER FOR CLASSES 1. Click My Scheduler. 1. Click Open My Scheduler. You will now be transferred to the College Scheduler. 15
Select the campus or campuses where you would like attend classes. Only select the locations you know you can attend. Click Save. If more than one term of enrollment is open, select the term you would like to view classes for. 16
Scheduler Page Overview 1. Add Courses After clicking Add Course, you can search for courses by Subject or Instructor. Once you find your course, select + Add Course. When you are finished adding all your required courses, select Done. 17
2. Add Breaks Once you have finished adding your courses and clicked Done, you will be back at the main screen. If you need to add a break so classes are NOT scheduled during that specified time, do that prior to generating schedules. If you have created a break and want to include it when generating your schedule, check the break you want. It will NOT return classes that run during that time frame. 18
3. Generate and View Schedules Once you have completed adding your breaks you are ready to generate schedules. The number of schedules generated depends on the number of campuses selected at the start and offerings. If you have selected all locations, the number of choices returned can be overwhelming. It is best to only select the locations you know can attend. The campus, course and break choices selected generated 12 different available schedules. You can compare up to 4 different schedules at a time or you can view each one individually and select the one that best fits your needs. 19
Viewing your schedule comparison provides a snapshot of when your classes are scheduled. You can hover over the blocks to see what course and the specific time. If you like one of the choices you can click Open # or you can go back and compare another 4. 20
Now that you have narrowed down your selection, you are almost finished building your schedule. With your schedule of choice displayed, select Validate. This will ensure you meet the requirements for your selected courses and do not have a hold on your record. If you do not meet a requirement for a course, you will receive a message. It is best to go back and select a course you meet the requirements for. If you have a hold, you need to speak with your Academic Advisor. Be sure to check the warnings on the page. These are informative messages that can help you determine the best schedule. 21
You have your schedule selection finalized. You have no validation items to address. You have read the warnings. TIME TO SEND TO SHOPPING CART! Once you have sent To Shopping Cart you will now go back into Self-Service to complete enrollment. The page below will display and there is nothing to access from this page. The Self-Service tab/window should still be open in your browser, go back to that to finish. 22
Back in Self-Service click Course Enrollment in step 3. Click Import Cart. 23
1. Confirm imported courses. Classes in your shopping cart are NOT registered! You must follow the steps below and complete step 3. Click next to review all classes that were imported to your cart. 24
If you prefer to not register yourself, you can leave your classes in your cart and make an appointment with your Academic Advisor. To remove a class from your shopping cart, click the trashcan. Click Proceed to Step 2 of 3 to continue the registration process. 25
2. Final Confirmation of Classes Click Finish Enrolling if you are satisfied with your selections. 3. Finish Enrolling Read the message and check the status to confirm this course has been added to your schedule. 26
REGISTRATION ERRORS After you click Finish Enrolling, you may encounter registration errors. Some of the most common are here: If you have a hold on your record, review Page 13; Step 1 - Registration Eligibility, of this document and then follow the instructions. You will not be able to self-register with a hold. You will not be able to register a course without having taken the pre-requisite. If you get this message, select a different course. You cannot register for two sections of the same course. If you get this message, select a different course. You cannot register over your maximum credit hours. You cannot register for two classes that meet at the same time. If you get this message, select a class that meets at a different time. 27
