1 What is SchoolTube? SchoolTube is a free steaming video service that is made specifically for school district use. SchoolTube creates a secure platform from which you can share videos with your students, parents and other teachers. Students can also share their own videos with you and the class. Why SchoolTube? SchoolTube houses your videos on their servers. This keeps our district web servers from being bogged down. SchoolTube is a safe environment, approved by the district s IT department and is not blocked for students like YouTube, Vimeo or other video hosting sites. SchoolTube creates links and embedding codes that allow you to use the videos on your own webpages. How do I get started? You start by creating a Teacher account that is associated with your school. 1. Click on Sign Up in the right top corner of the page. Then locate your school. Using SchoolTube NOTE: Make sure you are choosing the right school, in the right city and state.

2 2. Choose Educator 3. Fill in all fields NOTE: You must use your district address to create the account. Otherwise you may not be approved for an account. Students and parents will follow very similar steps to gain access to the video channel you create. 4. Click Create My Account SchoolTube will now verify your credentials. You will receive an within 1-12 hours indicating that you have been accepted. SchoolTube will verify your credentials. Wait for the . You will receive an within 1-12 hours indicating that you have been accepted. Before you can make your Channel you must upload at least one video. NOTE: Videos must be 1Gb or less in size. The time or length of video does not matter. SchoolTube accepts many different common video formats in both SD and HD resolutions. Video formats include:.3gp.asf.avi.bik.divx.f4v.flv.m2ts.m4v.mov.mp4.mpeg.mpg.ogv.rm.webm.wmv.xvid 5. Click on the Upload a Video button in the middle of the screen.

3 6. Fill in all fields. The Tags field is should be filled with words associated with the video. Tags are used by the search engine to help other people find your video. This field is optional. You can also assign a specific Category for the video. Video Privacy Settings allow you to determine if your video can be searched for and viewed by anyone or only the people who are registered users from your school. 7. Click the Select File button You can browse through your files to find the specific video you want to upload. The system may take 1-10 minutes to upload your video depending on how fast your internet connection and how large the video file is. When the upload is complete you will see a confirmation message. NOTE: Your video has been uploaded but it may take a few minutes for it to be available to use. You should receive an letting you know when your video is ready for viewing. 8. Click on My Channel 9. Fill in all fields NOTE: Your channel title cannot be changed. The title will be incorporated into the URL for your channel. The title will also show on the top of the screen. Choose wisely. Channel Description can be left blank. It can be added or changed at a later time. The Main Video will be larger than all of the rest and reside at the top of the screen. You can choose from any video you have uploaded, and you can change it at any time.

4 Continue filling out each of the fields. Channel Tags are words used by the search engine to help other people find your channel. This field if optional and can be added or changed later. Visibility will allow you to determine if your channel can be searched for and viewed by anyone or only the people who have your specific URL link. Community Uploads is an option you have to allow others to upload videos to your site. If your site is Public this could be anyone on SchoolTube. If you site is Private only the people who have your specific URL could upload to your channel. NOTE: The videos that are uploaded by others will have to be approved by you before they are visible on your channel. Custom Banner refers to a graphic file that you can create to brand your site. This is optional. If you choose to create a banner, the dimensions of the graphic should be 960 x 100 pixels. Banner Link is an option to make your banner a hyper link to some other web address. It could point back to your Teacher Page on your schools website. Make sure to use the entire URL. 10. Click on Save Changes You ve done it! Your account is now complete. If you chose to make your channel Private, no one will be able to search and find your channel. Only the people you give the URL to, will be able to see your videos.

5 Here is what your channel could look like: NOTE: All additional videos that you upload or approve others to upload will be listed at the bottom of this screen with smaller thumb nail pictures and titles. If you click on the smaller thumb nail picture at the bottom of the screen it will show you the specific link to the video as well as the embedding code. If you have marked the video as My School Only, then only registered members of your school can view the video using the specific link. However, when you use the embedding code on your own website the video will be viewable to everyone that has access to that webpage. NOTE: It would be a good idea to go back the My Account tab and change your account settings with a new password. You can change the password to match your district log in. If you should happen to forget your password, it will be ed to your district account.
