3 New User Registration: New users must create an account with VBAlert for Members in order to receive and/or text message alerts. Users can register multiple mobile devices and addresses under one account. Entering Account Information 1. Go to and click on the New User Registration link on the left 2. Create an account by completing the information on the right a. Name: enter your first and last name b. address: enter a valid address (work or personal). You will use this address to log in to your VBAlert for Members account. This address will automatically be registered so that you receive VBAlert for Members messages. c. Accounts: if you wish to enter additional accounts, enter them here. Click the Add More button to add multiple accounts. d. Cell & Smartphones (via SMS/text message): select your cellular provider from the drop-down list and enter your 10-digit cell phone number. Click the Add More button to enter multiple mobile devices. e. Account Password: create an account password. Passwords must be at least six characters. f. Terms of Service: click on terms of service in the blue box. Once you have read the terms of service, select Yes from the drop-down list and click the Continue button. My Alerts (subscribing to groups) The My Alerts page is where you can subscribe to groups for which you want to receive VBAlert for Members messages. Groups are collections of users that will receive specific messages about a topic. Currently, there are no groups available, but group(s) may be added in the future. 3
4 Click the Continue button. Your registration is now complete, and you will see the VBAlert for Members home page. Home Tab From the Home tab, you can review your account information, edit your profile, send a test alert to your registered device(s), or delete your account. To send a test alert to your registered device(s), click the Send a TEST ALERT button To edit your account profile, click on the Edit Profile button. Edit User Profile 4
5 On the Edit User Profile screen, you can update: Contact address (this is the account that you use to log in to the VBAlert for Members system) Account password (this is the account password that you use to log in to the VBAlert for Members system) First Name Last Name Once you are finished updating your information, click the Update button. Devices Tab From the Devices tab, you can add, delete or change your registered address(s) and/or mobile device(s). Add a New Address to Your Profile To add a new address, enter it in the address field in the Accounts section, and click the Add device button in the lower, right corner of the screen. The new will now show under the Registered Alert Destinations section at the top of the page. Add a New Mobile Device to Your Profile To add a new mobile device, select the cell phone carrier from the drop-down box in the Cell & Smartphones section, enter the 10-digit cell phone number in the field 5
6 provided, and click the Add device button in the lower, right corner of the screen. The new mobile device will now show under the Registered Alert Destinations section at the top of the page. Edit a Registered or Mobile Device To edit a registered address or mobile device, click the Edit/Delete link to the left of the or device you want to change, edit the address or cell phone number in the Add/Edit Device section, and click the Update button in the lower, right corner of the screen. Delete a Registered or Mobile Device To delete a registered address or mobile device, click the Edit/Delete link to the left of the or device you want to delete, and click the Delete button in the lower, right corner of the screen. My Alerts Tab Currently, there are no groups available, but group(s) may be added in the future. Alert Log Tab The Alert Log tab displays a list of alerts that you have received from the VBAlert for Members system. Help Tab Use the Help tab to view Help topics and frequently asked questions (FAQs). You can also contact the VBAlert for Members Help Desk at MembersAlertHelp@vbgov.com. 6
7 Helpful Hints Ensuring VBAlert for Members messages don t end up in your Junk Mail folder Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use various methods to prevent unsolicited commercial (junk mail or spam) from being delivered to a user s inbox. Some of these methods may mistakenly classify VBAlert messages as spam and send the message to your junk mail folder instead of your inbox. To ensure you receive VBAlert messages, you should add *@employees.vbgov.com to your s safe sender list. 7
