1 The College of Saint Rose Completing the Online Application, Selecting a Meal Plan and Requesting Roommates Incoming First Year Students Freshmen and Transfer Students Office of Residence Life 2011

2 COMPLETING THE ONLINE HOUSING APPLICATION! I. Log onto MyHousing via Secure Site Login to the Secure Area using bannerweb.strose.edu; you will need your student Identification Number (ID) and your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to login. Once in Secure Site, you will need to click on the MyStudentHousing link, found under the Student & Financial Aid menu. II. Complete the Online Application Click on the Login button of the ApplyOnline section to begin the steps for applying for housing. The Selection Screen is shown below: III. Apply Online! Completing Your Online Application

3 Select the application you wish to complete: For this upcoming academic year If you are an incoming Freshman Student, please select Incoming First Year Student Freshman (Fall 2011). If you are an incoming Transfer student, please select Incoming First Year Student Transfer (Fall 2011). The Timeframe, read in parenthesis, should show the semester that you wish to secure housing for. A picture illustrating the information for an Incoming First Year Transfer Student can be seen below: Make sure the appropriate application is selected and click Next >>. You will be directed to the next screen. IV. Housing Agreement Review the College s Occupancy Agreement and click the I Agree tab when completed. By agreeing to the terms of the agreement, you will acknowledge that you have read and understood the terms and conditions of the occupancy agreement. Once you have selected the I Agree button, click Next >> to continue. A sample of the webpage is shown below please realize that the housing agreement will contain more information than shown in the screen shot below.

4 V. Completing the Online Application - Personal Preferences You will next be prompted to complete the informational questions and personal preferences indicated on the online application, as shown below: All areas indicated with a red asterisk (*) are required fields, and need to be completed before clicking Complete Application. If you are an incoming First Year Freshman, and are interested in requesting a building, you may do so on this page. Please be aware that the Residence Life Office will only honor one request (either Building or Roommate). If both request types are on file, the Residence Life Office will honor all confirmed roommate requests first. ** You do not need to request a building. If you have no building preference, please indicate No Preference as your answer for question #9. If you are an incoming First Year Transfer, we are asking you to indicate your preferences for room types. The Residence Life Office will work during the housing placement process to assign you to a space that meets your preferences, based on the availability of room types. Once you have inputted all required information, please click on the Complete Application button. You will be directed the completion page. VI. Completing the Online Application Once you have submitted your application, you will be sent to a confirmation page, letting you know your information has been received. You may also print this page as a receipt of your application. See below for an example of the webpage:

5 After your application has been submitted, the Residence Life Office will work to place you into your Fall 2011 space. Students can expect to hear from the Residence Life Office with placement information during the week of August 8 th. Please feel free to contact the Residence Life Office with any questions.

6 HOW DO I SELECT MY MEAL PLAN? I. Log Into MyHousing Click on the Login button of the MyHousing section to begin the steps for selecting your Meal. The Selection Screen is shown below:

7 III. Selecting a Meal Plan! In the MyHousing Overview, begin by clicking on the Dining tab in the left navigation bar. Once you have clicked on the tab, you will be directed to the area, shown in the screen shot below, where you will be able to select your meal plan. In order to select a meal plan for the upcoming semester, select Select a New Dining Plan in the drop-down menu and click the Continue>> button. After being brought to the next page, please select the Meal Plan you wish to purchase. For this upcoming academic year, pricing and meal plan types will be listed in the drop-down menu. A screenshot illustrating the information can be seen below: Make sure the appropriate application is selected and click Submit My Dining Plan Selection. You will be directed to the next screen, which will display a confirmation of your selection. The picture below will show sample information for a student who selected Meal Plan #2 - Gold Plan:

8 I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A ROOMMATE, WHAT ARE THE STEPS? YOU DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST A ROOMMATE, BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, THE RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE WILL WORK TO GRANT YOUR REQUEST. PLEASE BE AWARE, THE RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE OFFERS STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REQUEST ROOMMATES AND REQUEST BUILDINGS, BUT WILL ONLY HONOR ONE OF THESE REQUESTS. IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE TYPES OF REQUESTS ON FILE, THE RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE WILL HONOR ALL ROOMMATE REQUESTS OVER BUILDING REQUESTS. ** FOR INCOMING FIRST YEAR FRESHMEN, ALL HONORED ROOMMATE REQUESTS WILL BE PLACED IN BRUBACHER HALL ** AFTER 10:00 A.M. ON THE BUSINESS DAY FOLLOWING SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION, YOU CAN BEGIN THE ROOMMATE REQUEST PROCESS. The Residence Life Office will need time to process your application so that you can be eligible to begin requesting roommates. Thank you in advance for your patience. I. Using MyHousing to Request a Roommate In order to request a roommate, you will need to start the process by logging into MyHousing using the steps taken to log into the My Student Housing link of the Secure Site. Once there, click on the Login button under the MyHousing section to see the MyHousing Overview. See below for a screenshot of the login area: Once you have accessed the My Housing system, you will be able to request a roommate. In order to request a roommate, click on the Room Selection >> option in the left navigation bar of the MyHousing Overview, then select Roommate Selection as shown in the subsequent pop-up menu. 9 After clicking this link, you will be sent to the Roommate Requests page. Using this screen, you can search for your desired future roommate using any of the criteria shown below; you do not need to search using all the criteria, only one field is necessary. We suggest you verify your desired roommate s information after finding them using this search. All student information has been inputted into the MyHousing system, and will assist you with finding the correct student, but please be sure you are requesting the appropriate student. Once you have inputted your information, please click Request Student as Roommate. If you receive a message that No matching students were found, it may indicate one of the following: You misspelled information in the selection field The student is not eligible for a roommate request at this time The student is of the opposite gender See the following image for an example of the requests screen: Once you have requested your desired roommate, you will need to wait until your desired future roommate confirms your roommate request. Until your desired roommate confirms the request, you will see a DOES NOT MATCH indicator, in red font, listed in the status area in your Future Roommate Requests information. Students who have statuses of Not Eligible are unavailable to be selected as roommates and are unable to participate in roommate requests. We suggest any students with Not Eligible statuses contact the Residence Life Office. Information on Unmatched Roommates will also help explain why certain statuses are being displayed. Currently shown below are two screens: the first screen shows a student who has requested a roommate who is awaiting confirmation of a request. The second screen shows a roommate request that is pending, awaiting a student to select to Decline or Confirm the request.

10 Once a roommate request has been confirmed, your roommate request/information will be shown in the My Future Roommate Requests section of the MyHousing Overview. Please make sure that your roommate requests stay up to date, as you will be able to add and subtract roommates until the end of the Roommate Request Process. All Roommate Requests must be completed by Sunday, July 17 th, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. in order to be considered. IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT REQUESTING ROOMMATES! ALL ROOMMATE REQUESTS WILL BE PLACED IN BRUBACHER HALL. It is absolutely required that all roommate requests be mutual/confirmed!! o IF YOUR ROOMMATE REQUEST IS NOT COMPLETED AND MUTUAL/CONFIRMED BY SUNDAY, JULY 17 TH, 2011 AT 11:59 P.M., YOUR REQUEST WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED DURING HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS! You can add and subtract roommates throughout the process; please remember to inform any student who you are dropping out of your roommate request. IF YOU HAVE A ROOMMATE REQUEST ON FILE AND A BUILDING REQUEST ON FILE, THE RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE WILL HONOR THE ROOMMATE REQUEST OVER THE BUILDING REQUEST.

11 WHAT NEXT? I. MyHousing Checking Your Information after Placements Information is sent out!! After the Office of Residence Life completes room placements, you can check your information by clicking on Home/Overview in the left navigation bar in MyHousing. See below for a screenshot of the MyHousing Overview. Please remember, placement information will be completed and sent to all students during the week of August 8 th!
