7 /2 Cases The Prince Philip Dental Hospital Hong Kong University Training The Prince Philip Dental Hospital (PPDH) is established under the Prince Philip Dental Hospital Ordinance. (Chapter 08), and funded by the Government. The primary function of the hospital is to provide the facilities for the training of dentists and other persons in professions supplementary to dentistry. The responsibility for the teaching activities is vested in the Faculty of Dentistry, the University of Hong Kong. Networking Operating Room Microphone Requirement. Seminar Room : It needs a seminar room besides surgical room to show everything inside for students. Two HD cameras are equipped in surgical room, X-Ray and slides are also needed to show in seminar room. Students are receiving live streaming of operation by LCD in seminar room. Operations need to be recorded and VOD for students, all system should be over IP network. 2. Seminar Room 2: A training center for doctor and students to join the teaching on how to do the operation and share their experience. One Auto tracking system is installed to track the doctor, one HD camera for the whole class view. Two computers is equipped in the Teaching area, synchronously the computer s content can be displayed on the students monitor. All the teaching actives must be recorded into a centrally video platform. All the accessing should be simple over IP network, and the living videos should have the all HD videos and computers image to make all the whole room in all directions. 8 3/4 Cases St John of God Murdoch Hospital Simulation St John of God Murdoch Hospital is a division of St John of God Health Care, which houses 363 inpatient beds, a 24hour emergency department, operating suite, endoscopy suite, angiography suite, birth suite, a 35-bed maternity ward, hydrotherapy pool, medical library and education centre. As one of the largest providers of health care services in Australia, St John of God Murdoch Hospital highly valued the importance of clinical simulation training to its staff doctors, its Training and Education Center has many cooperation training programs with University of Western Australia, Curtin University and Edith Cowan University. This newly build training center deployed all the latest Laerdal simulation training technology, and Reach simulation solution has played a core role in the integration of these systems. Training and Education Center This center has been primarily designed to enhance the skills and work-readiness of the University s graduates and intern doctors, it is comprised of four kinds of rooms: Control room, Demonstration Ward, Simulation Room and Tutorial Rooms. Room functions are as follows: Control room: in the control room, all capturing, combining, recording and streaming is controlled by an AMX touch panel. The operators are able to select which cameras, patient monitors and microphones they wish to combine for streaming and recording depending on the particular scenario they are training for. Demonstration Ward: has four beds, each bed has one simulation mannequin; instructor will do the training from the control room with the student training at the bed side with the Mannequin. Simulation Room: this room is used for theatre and surgery simulation. Tutorial Room this is a training room, consisting of a ceiling mounted projection system, projecting on an interactive whiteboard, connected to a rack mounted. The whole tutorial room is controlled via a wall mounted touch panel controlling, the projection system, input switching and audio control of the venue. Requirements Working in conjunction with St John of God Hospital Murdoch, the design of the new simulation training center required some early consultation on the preplanning of the venue s AV infrastructure and desired outcomes. Having evaluated a number of solutions St John of God where pleased to implement a Reach solution to fulfill their needs. The system exceeded their requirements and provided the platform for future expansion of the streaming and recording solution into the accompanying training and surgery venues. The initial requirement for a camera image and patient monitor to be recorded onto a system for later evaluation, expanded to live streaming and recording, the addition of more cameras for a more comprehensive view of the simulation training. The addition of the ability to create specific image combinations from a simple touch screen interface from the control room, where they control the simulation mannequin, and then live stream and record these sessions at the same time has increased the functionality and scenarios that the venue is now able to be catered for. The Reach solution also has the ability to live stream and record the sessions at two separate bits simultaneously, allowing for the viewing of a HD version on the local network and the reduced bitrate version for remote users connected over lower speed connections. This has increased the ability for remote training and reduced travel costs. The server provides the combining, streaming and recording features including file storage and user access management of access to live streams, VOD or download and play later features. The Encoders are capable of capturing different signal sizes and resolutions, negating the need for defining specific resolutions of connected hardware, along with an output to control connected PTZ cameras.

The intern doctor goes through these wards to simulate diagnostic process with various types of patients within 90 minutes, examiners judge their performance outside the wards.
