Lecture Room Computer Login Audio-Visual and Computing Equipment in the Lecture Room Computing Facilities in the Library Operating Instructions for the Lecture Room Computer and Interactive Data Projectors Lecture Room Computer Login Username : lecture.room (This should come up so you don t need to type this in) Password : Running2017 Please DO NOT share this login details with students. 2. Audio-Visual and Computing Equipment in the Lecture Rooms All lecture rooms are equipped with the following facilities. Computer (in the computer cabinet) Data Projector Speakers Whiteboard for the data projector Computer Speakers Interactive Data Projector Data Projector without Interactivity Whiteboard (for data projector) A1 A2 A3 C1 D1 D2 * E1 E2 E3 Library Seminar Room *D2 uses a fabric projector screen. 1 P a g e
2 Authentication is required in order to access the lecture room PCs and the login details have been provided via . Please DO NOT share this login details with students. All cables have been set-up to operate correctly so it is very important that you do not rearrange the cables in lecture rooms. Also, please avoid moving the computer cabinet too much to avoid accidentally pulling the plugs/cables out. If there is a problem during office hours, contact Reception who will be able organise for someone to come and assist you. If the equipment isn t working after hours, you will need to find an alternative way to present your class materials. If this happens, please contact IT Support (itsupport@chc.edu.au or Ph ) as soon as possible the following day so that the problem can be rectified. Detailed instructions on how to use the lecture room computers and data projectors, how to connect your own devices to the data projectors are attached at the end of this document and also placed on the wall beside the whiteboard. Internet All lecture room computers are connected to the internet. DVD Player If you wish to play a DVD, please borrow an external DVD player from the Library (as some lecture room PCs don t have external DVD players attached). Data Projector Interactive Functions Most of the data projectors have finger-touch interactivity. The exceptions are; E3 and the Library Seminar Room (interactivity is activated by using the supplied interactive pens) D2 (normal data projector without interactivity). The Data Projector interactive functions are available only on the lecture room PCs (not on mobile devices such as laptops). If you wish to use the interactive functions on your files, please save your files onto a USB device and then log onto the PC. Please visit Staff IT Tutorials in the Office 365 Video App for the instructions on how to use the interactive functions of the data projectors. Your Own Laptops You can bring your own laptop/notebook and connect it to the data projector via the VGA cable which is provided on top of the computer cabinet. Please also bring in the necessary adapters for your laptop/notebook. Please also make sure that you will bring in a USB containing your files and presentations as a backup just in case your laptop/notebook may not connect to the date projectors (USB cables are also provided on top of the computer cabinet). Please note that all lecture rooms have interactive data projectors (except D2 which has a standard projector), you can only use the interactive functions if you have the software installed on your mobile devices. Otherwise, please use the lecture room PC to use the interactive functions. 2 P a g e
3 Microphones for A1 & E1 The microphone receivers are installed in the larger lecture rooms A1 & E1. If you wish to use these facilities, please borrow a belt-pack microphone from the Library Front Desk. Playing Video Clips & DVDs If you wish to show some video clips, you will find that it may not run smoothly via the internet. It is recommended that you download and save video clips on your USB or on your laptop, if possible. If you wish to play a DVD, please borrow an external DVD player from the Library (as some lecture room PCs don t have external DVD players attached). 3. Computing Facilities in the Library The Library houses computers for student use. These computers have access to the Library catalogue and free internet access. Printing facilities are also available. You can, from time to time, arrange with the Library staff for students to use these facilities for class activities. Please note, however, that the numbers of computers are limited and they also need to be made available for other students. You should be aware that the illegal copying of copyrighted software, and the use of illegally copied software, is prohibited on CHC computers. Loan Devices The following travelling audio-visual and computing equipment is available from the Library: Laptops Pointer/PowerPoint changer Belt-pack microphones (for the large lecture rooms A1 & E1) Portable Data Projectors Digital Cameras The number of these items available is limited, however, so you should book them well in advance. It is recommended that you book all required equipment prior to the beginning of the term or semester either by ing the Library (circulation@chc.edu.au) or visiting the Library. 3 P a g e
4 PLEASE TURN OFF DATA PROJECTOR WHEN FINISHED 4. Operating Instructions for the Lecture Room Computer and Interactive Data Projectors NB: The instructions are also placed on the wall in the lecture room. 1. Turn on the Data Projector by pressing On button on JED Controller. 2. To switch between devices (Lecture room PC & Laptops), press Computer button or HDMI button once. For Laptops Press once For Lecture room PC Press once VGA cable for Laptops is available at the top of the cabinet. This setup is for all the lecture rooms except for E3 & Library Seminar Room where there is no HDMI available. In these two lecture rooms, use the Computer button to switch between the Lecture room PC and Laptop. The detailed instructions are placed in each lecture room. 4 P a g e
5 PLEASE TURN OFF DATA PROJECTOR WHEN FINISHED 3. Control the speaker volume by pressing Volume up and Volume down button on JED controller. NB: The speaker volume can also be controlled on the computer (bottom right corner on the screen) and/or on audio clips. 4. When finished using the Data Projector, turn it off by pressing Off button on JED Controller. NB: Remember to turn the data projector off prior to leaving the room. 5 P a g e
6 USB There is a USB extension on the top of the cabinet use this for your USB stick. DVD Please borrow an external DVD player from Library Front Desk. Notebooks 1) The VGA cable for your notebook are at the top of the cabinet 2) Plug the appropriate cable into your notebook 3) Plug in the sound jack into your headphone receptor Data Projector Interactive Functions 1) The Data Projector interactive functions are available only on the lecture room PC (not on mobile devices such as laptops). 2) If you wish to use the interactive functions with your files, please save your files onto a USB device and use the lecture room PC.
