Manual VIS DNC-Process 6.5 The DNC-Process 6.5 is an event-controlled, Hardlock-protected 32bit software for the operating systems WINDOWS 9x/NT4.0/2000/XP. For installation the CD-ROM contents should be copied to the hard disk in same directory-structure, or the Setup.exe should be started for automatic installation. The standard-ini-file located at the WINDOWS-directory must be adjusted customer specific (see description of INI-file). The interface Parameters of the COM-server are described in appendix 1. The parameters are different according to each COM-server, please look up the COM-server manual. By using the integrated "Looptest", the interfaces and the DNC-cables can be tested with a short-circuit plug. After execution the DNC-process checks the adjusted interface-parameters, according to the network settings in the INI-File. The Process starts automatically, when interface-initializing is carried out without any problems. If there is an initializing-problem the start of process will be interrupted. If the DNC-process is started without a problem all it's functions are activated. After all tests, the process should be bind to the systems "Startup"-group. It is useful, to create a "Link" of the process.exe-file and execute it in minimized Windows state. Then the DNC-process will be activated automatically when system is started up and is put down to WINDOWS taskbar. If the "Logfile new"-function in "Options"-menu is activated during installation all DNC-actions are recorded in logfiles. These log files are updated continuously and will be created automatically month by month. The chapter "Hardlock-drivers" describes the hardlock (Dongle) installation.
DNC-Process 6.5 INI-File ( general ) [PROZESS] NAME=[name of the machine] TYP=[CNC-control] STATTEXT=[Drive]:\[Path]\[process ID]stat.tcp ERRTEXT=[ Drive]:\[ Path]\[ process ID]error.tcp [LOGFILES] PROTOKOLL=VIS_DNC DNC=[ Drive]:\[ Path]\[ process ID] ACT_DNC=[ Drive]:\[ Path]\[ process ID]_0206.log [EXTENSIONS] BAK=.bak DONE=.don HEADER=.hed NCPRG=.cnc USE=.use [PORT] BAUD=9600 DATABIT=8 PARITY=NONE STOPBIT=1 HANDSHAKE=XON/OFF year month Extensions and Path are set in the Options menu of the [PORT]-Parameters of the COMserver are just informational: see Appendix 1 [COM-SERVER] COM=COM[5] # COM 5-9 PORT=[8000] # Port-Address of COM-Server IP=[ ] # IP [PATH] NCPATH=[Drive]:\[Path to NC-Programs] [MESSAGES] NoText=Control path and name in process INI-file NoStatus=Bny_1stat.tcp could not be open NoError=Bny_1error.tcp could not be open
DNC-Process "Options" 1. DNC-Parameters At the "NC-Program-Path"-entries drive and path can be set. The DNC-process only has access to the designated directory. All NC-programs necessary for the current production must be located there. Different DNC-processes have access to this directory. Using the extensions certain states of production can be shown easily. "NC-Progr." extension: This extension indicates NC-Programs stored by the programming system. "USE" extension: "HEADER" extension: "DONE" extension: "BAK" extension: When the NC-program is called for the first time by the CNC-control it will be renamed to the preselected extension. The "USE" extension ".um1" e.g. means: The NC-program is called by machine 1 and is locked for other machines. Machine 1, however, is able to call it several times. After the NC-programs transmission and according to the CNC-control and NC-programming system production-information-files with same filename and preselected "Header" extension can be sent to the machine. Using the DNC-Process "Ready"-command the NCprogram is renamed to the preselected "DONE"- extension. Before this, the NC-program must be requested once by the CNC-control (already renamed to "USE"-extension). Is for example ".dm1" the preselected "DONE" extension, it is possible to identify the machine which executed the NC-program (e.g. machine 1). NC-programs which were sent back from CNC-control to the Host-System will be renamed to "BAK" extension. Now it is possible to identify them as already produced.
2. Logfiles VIS At this section of the "Options"-dialog you can enter (if needed) path and name of the DNC-logfiles. Activate the logfiles by pressing "Apply" and "Logfile new". The DNC-process identifies these files and records all DNC-actions. The logfiles are automatically created month by month and should be edited or deleted periodically. Logfile-example of a DNC-Process 6.5 INI-file: [LOGFILES] PROTOKOLL=VIS_DNC DNC=[drive]:\Dncexe\Dnclog\Nbs1 ACT_DNC= selectable in "Options"-menu "Options"-menu
The DNC-Process "Looptest" The preselected COM-Port can be checked with the integrated "Looptest"- function. You will find the "Looptest"-button located in the "Options"-dialogue. This function is very useful preparing the DNC-process installation, or if there is a problem with a Port or DNC-cable. It is only necessary to put on a shortcircuit-plug to Com Servers COM-Port or to the end of the DNC-cable. To activate the "Looptest"-function, the DNC-process must be stopped at first - then select "Options"-dialogue. When pressing "Looptest"-button the preselected COM-Server will be initialized and the test will be started automatically. Now the received characters or an "Input Timeout"-message are shown at the dialogues list box. "Looptest" can be stopped or started just as necessary. By watching the character-patterns it is possible to check a faultless transmission. If characters are missing sporadically, the DNC-cable should be checked.
The DNC-Process 6.5 additionaly includes the option "Select. After the DNC- Process is stopped, this "Select -button is available. Activating this button, let you see the "Select Files -window shown below. Within the "Search in" box, the program directory, which is defined in the INI-file, is shown. Now the available NC-files can be selected by clicking the filename. All selected files are shown in the listbox below and will be transfered to the machine with activating the "Send"-button. Note : The input - buffer of the CNC - control is limited. Therefore (see the file size) it is advisable to send not to much files at once. To many selected files can be deleted from the listbox by marking the filename and clicking the "Delete"-button. With the "Cancel"-button you leave this dialogue and return to the DNC- Process main window. " Select Files "- window
Installation of "COM-driver" (Windows 9x/ NT 4.0/2000) The "SUPERCOM.DLL"-file must be copied in the directory c:\win9x\system (Windows 9x) or [drive]:\winnt\system32 (Windows NT 4.0/2000). Installation of "Hardlock-driver" (Windows 9x/NT 4.0/2000) After DNC-process installation the Dongle-installation program "HLDRV32.EXE" is located at the "HARDLOCK"-directory. A "Readme.txt"-file can be also find there (please read first!). To run Installation, just click on the file "HLDRV32.EXE", or go via START EXECUTE BROWSE, open the file and click OK. After your Dongle is installed to LPT1-3 the DNC-process can be started. Important: To run installation on WinNT/2000, you need administrator-rights, for more help please contact your system administrator
Appendix 1 Quickstart Com-Server This Quick start describes the necessary steps to install the Com-Server in the network. After successful installation the following services will be present to the user: Configuration of the Com-Server via Telnet Port 1111 Access to the serial connected peripheral via Telnet, FTP, Com-Redirection or custom win socket software 1. Hardware installation Network connection : Connect the Com-Server with a patch cable (CAT 5) to your existing network. If there will be problems, the error LED will flash every second. Reference-Handbook Ethernet Connection RS232-Connection The hardware connection for RS 232 are standard as on your PC. Any serial cable can be used. Be aware to set the port parameters of the Com-server and the peripheral in a compatible way. Reference-Handbook RS232 Connection Power supply The Com-Server box will be connected to the delivered power supply. Reference-Handbook Power supply 2. Assigning the IP address The Com-server is factory set to IP Before you can make the entry in the Com-server, you need to specify an IP address that is valid for your network. Your system administrator will provide you with this. If you have only a small network with no routing, use the IP address of your PC and simply change the last digit.!! The IP address must be unique within the network!!
a) Assigning using the ARP command (Windows 95/98/NT/XP) This method can only be used if the Com-server does not already have an IP, i.e. the entry is To change an IP address, use the configuration method over Telnet. Required is a computer which is located in the same network segment as the Com-server and which has TCP/IP protocol installed. Read the Ethernet (MAC) address of the Com-server from the sticker on the side of the housing. Under Windows, first ping an other network station and then insert a static entry into the ARP table of the computer using the following command line : arp s [IP address] [MAC address] Next use the following command line to start a Telnet session on the configuration port of the Com-server with the desired IP : telnet [IP] 1111 The Com-server takes the IP of the first network packet sent to it as its own and saves it into non-volatile memory. The Telnet connection is not established and the configuration menu displayed in the Telnet window. All further settings are made here (see Basic configuration of the Com-Server ). The IP must be without leading zeros in all Windows environments. Otherwise the entry is incorrectly interpreted by the system and an incorrect IP is assigned to the Com-Server. b) Assigning through the serial port In contrast to the ARP method described above, this serial method functions regardless of whether the Com-server already has an IP or not. The procedure can be repeated as often as desired. Therefore use this method if you do not know the IP or have forgotten it. First connect the serial port of the Com-server to a computer. For standard PC or Laptop, you will need a crossed RS 232 cable (Null modem cable). The serial transmission parameters of the terminal program you use should be set to 9600 baud, no parity, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no handshake. Reset the Comserver by interrupting the power. When the green status LED lights up, enter the letter x at least three times on the terminal, until the Com-Server returns the prompt IP+<Enter>. Use the usual format (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) to enter the IP address, and end the entry by pressing <Enter>. If the entry was accepted, the acknowledgement is the assigned IP. Otherwise you will get a FAIL message followed by the last current IP.

3. serielle Parameter As in the case of the basic configuration, the various TCP/IP modes and the interface parameters are set over the network using the Telnet protocol. This configuration can be performed from practically any computer having a network connection and TCP/IP protocol. To get to the configuration menu, use the following command line : Telnet [IP-Address] 1111 You will be prompted with the menu structure in the Telnet.client window. By input of the desired menu number you will enter the according menu. By pressing <Enter> you will leave the menu, entering the previous. All settings you change will be activated after activating the Save Setup menu. If you change settings and leave Telnet without entering the Save Setup menu, all changes will be lost, and the Com-server will return to the old settings.
