5 1. Introduction 1.1 Introduction to GigaCentral GigaCentral is a first of kind wireless appliance with desktop sync agents and mobile clients for end users to securely sync and backup documents to cloud. Its innovative placeholder technology on desktop agent empower both Windows and Mac end users to have virtually unlimited local files. No more hassle of housekeeping or managing multiple external disks. All documents are 256bit AES encrypted with your own private key and stored in a secure cloud of over 99.9% SLA. System Requirements Ensure you have the following information and equipment ready as these are required for using GigaCentral Desktop: Mac computer running macos or later. At least 2 GB of available free disk space. GigaCentral account. GigaCentral macos app. 1.2 Overview This document serves as a basic functional user guide for end users using Mac computer to access GigaCentral. It is assumed that you already have GigaCentral account, otherwise, please contact your administrator to create one for you. Page 5 of 24

6 2. Getting Started 2.1 Installation 1. Download GigaCentral app and extract it if your browser doesn t do that automatically. 2. Move GigaCentral.app to your Mac s Applications folder. 3. GigaCentral app will appear on you Mac s Launchpad. 3 Page 6 of 24

7 2.2 Activation 1. Launch GigaCentral from your Mac s Launchpad, 2. Input Connect to GigaCentral URL, 3. Username Your username which can be found on GigaCentral activation , 4. Password Your password from GigaCentral activation , 5. Click Login. Enter the URL you are connecting to at Connect to. Enter your User ID and Password. Click Login. Page 7 of 24

8 3. Settings and Features 3.1 Menu Bar Icon Features 1. Click on GigaCentral Sync Manager located on your Mac s Menu Bar. Sync Now Pause/ Start Sync Allows you to pause or resume the GigaCentral Sync Manager synchronization service. Sync Status Allows you to view the Sync Status and Start it Open GigaCentral folder Allows you to open the GigaCentral folder where your Storages folder are located. Allows you to override GigaCentral sync intervals by manually triggering GigaCentral to perform synchronization. Exit To close GigaCentral Sync Manager. Note: All sync actions will stop. GigaCentral settings Allows you to access and edit GigaCentral settings Web service URL Login credentials Storage details Sync intervals View Shared Files Allows you to view the Shared In and Shared Out window. You can view users that you have shared to and the users who have shared folder/files to you. Page 8 of 24

9 3.2 GigaCentral Settings 1. Click on GigaCentral Sync Manager located on your system tray. Select GigaCentral settings. 2. You may wish to change the following under the settings tab: 2 1 Show notifications Enable/disable notifications Sync interval Synchronization interval for checking files from server. You can set the sync internal to 1, 5, 15 and 30 minute(s). Username Your GigaCentral username. Password Your GigaCentral password (masked). Page 9 of 24

10 4. Sync 4.1 Sync Options 1. Click on the GigaCentral Sync Manager on your Mac s Menu Bar. 2. You will see the following features. Trigger sync immediately To pause/resume synchronization 3. If you wish to validate and correct sync issue, click on GigaCentral settings. 4. Navigate to Sync Tab 5. The last updated date and time will be shown. 6. Click on Start Sync to do a full sync. 7. 12 5. File Operations 5.1 Add File Drag & Drop 1. Move files by dragging from your local disk drives into GigaCentral storage folders. 2. Note that files will be moved from their original location. 3. Allow the application to sync. (it may take time depending on the file size and bandwidth of your Mac s network connection). 4. A green tick icon will be shown if the file is successfully synced. Drag & Drop (or copy & paste) 3. Sync Complete Sync in Progress 3 Page 12 of 24

13 5.1.2 Make a copy 1. Select the file/folder you wish to copy. 2. Right click (or control-click) and select Copy. Alternatively, you can copy with command-c keyboard shortcut. 3. Navigate to GigaCentral storage folders. 4. Right click (or control-click) and select Paste. Alternative, you can paste with command-v keyboard shortcut. 5. Allow the application to sync. 6. A green tick icon will be shown if the file is successfully synced. Page 13 of 24

15 6.1 Internal Share Internal Share allows you to share file/folder(s) to other GigaCentral users registered on your GigaCentral Appliance. 1. Select the folders/files inside GigaCentral synced folder which you want to share. You may select multiple files. 2. Right click (or control-click) and select GigaCentral: Share to internal. 1 2 Page 15 of 24

16 3. Click on file name to view the list of files/folders being shared. 4. Select the Expiration checkbox if you wish to set validity of the file. Set the date and time. 5. Search contacts from your company s address book. Enter a name and click Search. A list of names will be populated. 6. Click on the + icon to add recipients To remove recipients from the sending list, click on the icon. if required. 8. Enter a message if you wish to address to the recipient(s). 9. Click Share to create the share. Page 16 of 24

17 6.2 Edit/Remove Share 1. Right click (or control-click) on GigaCentral Sync Manager and click View Shared Files. 2. Go to Shared Out tab. 3. Click on the file that you would like to edit share and click on the Edit Share icon Page 17 of 24

18 4. Change the Validity of the file. Select an absolute date and time. 5. You can edit share to selected recipients by checking/unchecking selected recipients. 6. Click on Edit Files/Folders to edit documents. 7. Click Edit to submit your changes Page 18 of 24

20 7. Access shared files 7.1 Access files via Notification Shared files Recipients may click on the link to access the shared file. Usually you will be directed to the web portal via the link to view the files. Page 20 of 24

21 7.2 Access files via View shared files feature Shared in Shared in: Contains folder/files shared to you by GigaCentral users. By default, the files will not be downloaded until you have select the file and click on Download. After the file(s) have been downloaded, click Go to folder to view the file that has been shared. 22 7.2.2 Shared out Shared Out: Contains folder/files shared out to other GigaCentral users (Recipients). Click Go to folder to view the file that has been shared. Page 22 of 24

23 8. Placeholder 8.1 Remove file/folder from Local HD 1. Right click (or control-click) on the file/ folder that you would like to remove from the local drive 2. Click on the GigaCentral: Remove from Mac menu 2 3. A cloud icon overlay will replace the tick icon after successful removing of the file/ folder 3 Page 23 of 24

24 8.2 Adding file/folder back to Local Drive 1. Right click (or control-click) on the file/ folder that you would like to download back to the local drive 2. Click on the GigaCentral: Download to Mac menu 2 3. An icon of tick will replace the cloud icon after successful download of the file/ folder 3 4. Downloading files may took some time, depending on the file size and bandwidth of you Mac s network connection. You can click on GigaCentral icon at your Mac s Menu Bar and then click Sync status to monitor the download process. Page 24 of 24
