reating, aming and rranging evices reating, aming ype ection and rranging itle evices device is the basic grouping of a set of hard buttons and up to 2 soft button pages. You will need one device group for each remote control that the - is replacing. You can have a maximum of 2 devices in your configuration. When you create devices in the reate and ame evices window, every device is automatically linked with a jump-link to the device via either the WH or the menu. f you create devices manually you have to create a jump link from either the WH or the menu button to each device manually. pen the reate and ame evices Window You can open the reate and ame evices window by clicking on the first item of the Program enu or by clicking on the oolbar icon as shown here: reating evices 1 fter the reate and ame devices window appears, select the WH or the menu from the evice list box: 2 elect the button position you d like to create a new device name in by clicking on it. ow, decide if you need a combined or a splt label. split label can have up to characters, a combined label up to 11 characters. When you combine a button, command or acro programming will be duplicated automatically on both the left and the right button. ombine both left and right buttons into one 11character button. eparate a combined row into two separate buttons. P - se combined row buttons to type user friendly labels for important activities. 3 ow, select the menu from the evice ist box and create all the devices for listening. P

Here s what the inclusive code sets look like: est the ode et. Verify the - is charged and connect it to the P via the B port. B. Point the connected - so that it is in range and within line of sight of the component.\. P 1 When you have finished all of your devices, click on the button.

Finding iscrete ommands for eliable acros Finding iscrete ommands for eliable acros iscrete ommands versus oggle ommands When a remote control s only button to turn on and off a V set is labeled Power, it is usually a toggle command. est it by pressing the button twice. f the power button turns on the V, then turns it off, it is a toggle command. You cannot predict whether the component will power on or not. hat is a big problem when you are programming macros! Basically, your client will feel that the macro only works half the time, and will probably blame you for the problem. iscrete means that the function of the command is separate and distinct from any other function. n a remote control with discrete power commands, there are two power buttons. ne that only turns the component on, and another that only turns the component off. he most commonly sought discrete commands are for power on, power off and for V and urround ound eceiver P selection. hese discrete commands will make your macros work every time for your customer. ecret iscrete odes exist for some components. Why are they secret? Because the manufacturer wants the remote control that accompanies the component to have the simplest appearance (fewest buttons). ince toggles reduce the number of buttons, they make the remote control appear easier to operate. any manufacturers understand the needs of custom installers and build their components to also respond to discrete codes. hey distribute the discrete codes via service remotes, etc. For the first time, those codes are collected and integrated into our database. ot all components respond to the discrete codes in the atabase. component has to be B to respond to discrete codes. he fact that other models from the same manufacturer do respond to discrete codes is the reason the codes are added to a code set. However, some models will not respond, because the manufacturer did not build it to respond through budgetary considerations, time constraints or a simple oversight. se the atabase avigator to Find iscrete ommands 1 pen the atabase avigator by clicking on the button in the atabase window, or by clicking on atabase avigator in the menu. 11 P

2 Finding iscrete ommands for eliable acros 2 elect the F (category of component), then the B, then the. f you do not see the model number, utilize the V (i.e B1, B2, etc). nce you see a command that has a promising sounding name, click on it so that it is highlighted (selected), then click on the button. You can test any command in the list. 3 When you find a command that you want, simply click and drag it to the button on the simulator. P

Finding iscrete ommands for eliable acros 4 fter you ve dragged it to its new position, the new label and a pre-programmed code flag (the red dot) is placed on the button. P - Vary the number of P to sustain an command for a few seconds. any projectors require a two or three second burst to power on or off. You can program this to occur without the customer having to press and hold the button for several seconds by utilizing the repeat window in atabase avigator. imply experiment with different numbers of repeats and test the command until it works as you want it to. here is no predictable relationship between the number of repeats and seconds from one brand to another, so start experimenting with 1 repeats and time the burst. nce you ve programmed a button with this extended command, you can use it in a macro. he timed burst will occur as a single macro step. se the niversal Browser to find iscrete ommands sing the niversal Browser Window you can import codes from a.ccf file, an.mxf file or an.rcc file. You cannot import any kind of atabase codes, only codes. n the internet, you can find many unusual discrete codes by browsing the files section of a website popular with other custom installers: You can often find discrete codes by posting at one of many other sites popular with custom installers by posting on an online bulletin board. f any other custom installer knows of a solution he/she will a file to you. Whether your download a file or if you are ed a file from another installer, the niversal Browser enables you to import learned codes into your - configuration. fter you ve saved the file to your P, you use the niversal Browser as follows: 1 pen the niversal Browser by clicking on the niversal Browser in the menu or by clicking on the shortcut button on the toolbar. 2 lick on the File icon to navigate to the folder that contains the file you d like to get codes from. 13 P

4 Finding iscrete ommands for eliable acros 3 se ree View to avigate to the Panel containing codes you want. lick on the panel name in ree View to make the panel appear in Panel View. 4 lick on a button in Panel View and the ction ist view will reveal whether it has earned ata or not. nly buttons with earned ata can be transferred. lick and drag the button to the - simulator. 6 fter you ve dragged the button, the blue indicating a earned command is displayed on the button. 19 est ll ommands and elabel for asy peration est ll ommands and elabel for asy peration Before programming any further, you should rigorously test all of the codes you have programmed using the atabase and label the buttons with names that the customer will find easy to understand. he best approach is to download, test all the commands, and as you test, use - ditor to modify labels, and hide or delete unnecessary commands. - ditor enables you use two methods to relabel and re-arrange commands and labels. se the Button ditor method if you are most comfortable with -8 ditor. se the Page View method if you are most comfortable with -3 ditor. Both have their advantages as you will see in the descriptions below. sing the Button ditor to elabel and e-arrange Buttons Begin testing the codes you downloaded to the -. ake sure that you test all buttons (hard buttons and the buttons on each page or every device). on t try to learn new commands yet, wait until you can do all of them at once systematically. First you must delete commands that don t work and change the labeling so that your client instantly understands why you ve made the button available to them. ood practice is to simply delete commands that the client will never use, or to arrange them on the last pages of a device. ertainly, your most important goal is to place the most useful commands on the first page of a device, so that the client has everything they need without pressing a P button. 1 From the Program enu, select dit Buttons. 2 From the evice list box, select the first device you d like to test and edit. 1 P

6 est ll ommands and elabel for asy peration 3 ow drag any unimportant commands from the first page to the last page of the device. 4 ake a look at all the other pages, drag any buttons you consider important to the first page. elect a button you d like to convert to ingle olumn and click on the ingle olumn button at the top of the window. P

6 elect a button to relabel with a new easier to understand name and type it in. 7 epeat teps 2-6 and continue to test all commands for all of your devices by selecting a new device from the evice list box, then editing as needed. f you are missing a command and need to learn it, delete any buttons that you don t need and relabel to prepare for learning. ip - t s fastest if you don t click on V until you have finished all testing and relabeling. V exits the dit and abel Buttons window, so you would have to reopen it if you haven t finished editing all your devices. Hiding Pages in Button ditor est ll ommands and elabel for asy peration hidden page is accessible during programming so you can teach commands to buttons on hidden pages and use them in macros. he interesting thing about hidden pages is that the end user cannot manually access the page using the P button. You H pages using the H checkbox which appears at the bottom of each page in Button ditor. nlike -8 ditor, you can hide any page without hiding any other. sing Page View to elabel and e-arrange Buttons Begin testing the codes you downloaded to the -. ake sure that you test all buttons (hard buttons and the buttons on each page or every device). on t try to learn new commands yet, wait until you can do all of them at once systematically. 24 2 P earning ype earning ection itle earning should be a last resort for professional installers. We make every effort to provide you with any codes you need via our database. f they are not, please make a note to us at the first chance with the learned file you created, the type of device it is and the Brand and odel umber. f it is not a current model component, we would still like to add it to the database, but please note in your the approximate age of the component. Please address your s to: ips for earning from nusual evices atabase@universalremote.com When you have difficulty successfully teaching codes to the -, always try these tips in the order below: 1. Fresh Batteries in the riginal emote ontrol - Weak batteries will cause - ditor to fail to correctly learn. ote that V if the original remote still operates the component, the batteries can be too weak to produce a strong enough carrier for any learning remote control to detect!!!! When a code fails, replace the batteries F! 2. ap instead of Pressing and Holding - With buttons that the client will only tap when using, this may produce better results. ormally, you should press and hold. 2. he Flutter echnique - f you are having problems with a ode that has to be sustained (like volume up or down), sometimes fluttering the button on the original remote at least seven times while you are learning will successfully teach the code. 3. Vary the istance between the emote and the earning ensor - We recommend that you start with a distance of half an inch between them. f no other technique works, try varying the distance by doubling it each attempt. Keep trying until you are at least feet away. 4. ry tandalone earning, see page 23.. all our technical support department at to see if they have a cross reference for the brand and model you are using. f there isn t a cross reference, they will ask you to ship the remote to our engineers so the codes can be added to the database. earning odes ne at a ime When all you need is a code or two, this is the method to use. f you need to teach an entire set of codes from a remote control, skip to the Batch earning section on page xx. 1 onnect the - to your P and verify that the ctiveync icon in the lower right hand corner of your P screen is green.

ype earning ection itle 2 elect the button that you want to teach to by single clicking it on the simulator. 3 lick on the ab or choose earn from the Program. here will be a pause, while the P communicates with the -, then the info window will display eady. he earning nformation window prompts you when the system he earn Button re-activates the earning process when it automatically times out or if you want to re-learn a command. is eady to learn a new command and when a learned command is ood, or if it Fails. he earn ab reveals the toolbar for earning. 4 Press and hold the corresponding button on the original remote control while pointing it at the top of the - (head to head) with the remotes approximately a half inch to an inch apart. When the code is successfully learned, the window will say, confirming that the code learned correctly. ctually, the means that the code might be good... You need to test it. elect the code in the urrent earned ist, then click on the test button while pointing the - at the device. P - lways PW FF the F Base tation when testing earned odes. est line-of-sight only! f there is any interference or saturation, your tests will fail, not because of learning issues but because of F setup issues. on t waste time, test your codes now, test F setup later. 21 P

22 P earning f the code doesn t operate the component you can try the oubleap learning method. his is particularly useful for components using the Philips togglebit protocol. any high end audio companies use these codes. Just click on the 2 ime earn radio button and you will be prompted to learn every code twice. 6 lick on V - You must click on V to save the command. he blue learned flag appears on the button you taught the command to. earning a Batch of Buttons Quickly sing this method, - software will automatically save and select the next button, saving lots of time when you are learning an entire remote control. Key to your success are two tips: ip #1 - lways label all your buttons before beginning ip #2 - Verify with one button that the codes from the new remote learn normally. nce you ve prepared, batch learning goes very quickly: 1 elect the Button - elect the button that is the top left of the buttons you want to teach to. When - ditor automatically saves and selects the next button it moves left to right, unless it is learning a group of buttons with similar functions. When you are batch learning the Volume roup, - ditor first learns Volume p, then Volume own, then ute, then advances to the next group. 2 elect both the and the button - he combination activates the batch learning capability of ditor. t is normal for - ditor to time out after learning the page, and again after learning the hard buttons. he button remains selected, but you must restart the batch learning by selecting a new starting button on another page or device, then selecting again.

3 Watch the Window - When the info window says Y, press and hold the button on the original remote control. When it says, release the button. f it says F, reteach the same command. When you see that a new button has been selected and the window says Y, then teach the new command from the original remote control. ip - o skip a buttons in the automatic sequence, select the next button you want. ip - You can test any code by selecting it on the simulator and clicking on the button. 4 emember to save your work, go to the File menu and select V. tandalone earning With some P s, the interconnection between the perating ystem (Windows) the B interface, the remote and the software can create learning problems with any code. f you have tried all of the tips listed on Page 2, it is worth trying tandalone earning. 1 From the ommunications enu, select emote ontrol etup. You may have disabled the tandalone diting feature. ake sure that the isable checkbox is HK. elect emote ontrol etup from the ommunications enu. ake sure the isable checkbox is HK (as shown). hen, click on K to close the window. 2 ownload to the remote control. ow all your buttons are correctly labeled. 3 isconnect the remote from the B cable. 4 Press and hold both the button and the button for five seconds. he menu will appear. elect the button from the menu on the -. 6 hoose between an button on either the or the WH pages (V B) or a normal or hard button within one of your devices (B). he top of the page now displays. 7 avigate to the button you want to teach and select it. he top of the page now changes to Y. each the command you want, observing the top of the page. f it says F, reteach it. f it says, then, select the next button you want and teach to it. When you are finished, simply press WH or several times until the - is back in normal operating mode. 8 ow, upload to the P and save the file. earning 23 P

24 P acro Programming Bullet Proof acros or Point Pray? Professional nstallations equire Bullet-Proof macros (all discrete codes or workarounds, no toggle commands). Point and Pray macro is created when you place a toggle command in the macro (like a V Power command). he use of Point & Pray macros that only work if the customer follows strict rules will create service calls and a lot of bad will (for example, you force the customer to verify that the system is completely off before using the macro). When you cannot find discrete power commands, create an extra device called PW or YPW and give your client one place to find all the power commands. nstruct them to power on their system manually from this easy, convenient page, then return to WH or to use the automated input switching acros for the V like Watching B, Watching a V movie etc. - For systems with lots of toggle Power codes, create a Power HP list. n this example, the programmer has created a device called YPW. he client has one convenient page to power up their system manually. ach button is labeled for the power command the programmer has placed via the atabase avigator. his is much better technique than programming a Point Pray acro that will result in much customer frustration. acro Programming Finding Workarounds When here re iscrete odes By creatively experimenting you may find that you can workaround the lack of discrete codes. his takes time and there is no guarantee that you will find a workaround for any given component. Here are some common examples: V and V Power Workaround ost V players will turn on when off when they receive a Play command. hus you can workaround like this: V = 1) Play V FF = 1) Play 2) V top 2) delay of 2 to 4 seconds 3) V Power (toggle command) V scrolling P Workarounds any televisions respond to a channel up or a channel number command by changing to the ntenna input regardless of what input was last selected. his creates an anchor action that puts the television in a known input. hus you can create a workaround as follows: P - H p takes V to the input (and the V has inputs -nt, nt B, 1, 2 and 3)

V to 3 = 1) h p (takes V to regardless of what input was last selected) 2) nput (takes V to next input - B) 3) nput (takes V to next input - 1) 4) nput (takes V to next input - 2) ) nput (takes V to desired input - 3) sing the acro Window he acro Window controls macro recording as follows: ecord- his is the fastest way to record a macro. elect a button, click on ecord, then use View to navigat to the device and page of a button you want. When you click on the button, it is added to the macro as a macro step. est acro - Play back your macro by following these steps: 1) elect the first step in the macro. 2) onnect to an - 3) lick on the button. raggable acro teps - n this window, you can view all of your macro steps. You can click and drag any step to any position, changing the order of the macro. ormal, Press and Hold and Variable ist Box - ormal macro has one sequence of steps that will always playback when the button is pressed. Press and Hold macro has two sequences, one sequence is played when the button is pressed normally. he other sequence is played when the button is pressed and held for longer than the specified time. Variable macro has two sequences. ne sequenc e is played back when the selected variable=, the other when the variable=1. acro Programming ave - lick to stop acro ecording and save your work. ound - ny step can have a sound WV file programmed by dragging a sound from the sound gallery to the macro. However, to program a second sound file in the same macro (so that there is a beep at the beginning and a tada at the end of a macro), you must program a delay in between the two sounds as long as the first sound or longer. elay - lick to open the delay window. ny step can be a deleay between.1 and. seconds. onger delays can be created by using more than one delay. ip - ll Buttons an Be acros except the Watch, isten and Page buttons. Jump - s the last step in a acro, you can specify a jump to any page of any device. You can program another jump in the macro to display a page with a status feedback message or image. elete - First select the step you want to delete, then click on this button (or the elete key on the keyboard. mport a acro - First select the the button without a macro, then click on this button, then click on the button that has the macro you want imported. ata - lick on this to open atabase avigator, then drag a code from the avigator to a macro step. VB pens the et Variable window, which enables you to pick an already-created variable and set it to, 1 or to simply nvert its status. ext - ny step can make the button label change. f you want the label to stay changed, insert a delay after the text step to keep the text on for enough time for your client to read it. 2 P

26 P Programming a ystem Power n acro acro Programming et up your laptop and the connected remote within operational range of the home theater system while programming a macro. acros that the client will use to turn the system on require extensive testing of delays and you can expect to do a lot of experimenting while programming. n this example, the WH device s button is programmed to turn on the system, configure all the nputs and odes for the client s favorite activity, watching HV able V. 1 n ree View, navigate to the WH device. n the simulator, select the n button. 2 Verify that the ype list box at the bottom of the acro Window has the default selected. 3 lick on the icon or select acro from the Program enu. 4 n ree View, expand all the pages of the devices you are going to power on. avigate to the first device you d like to turn on. ince the Plasma V in the example system takes several seconds to warm up, it is the first device we ll turn on. With single clicks on the pages inside the Plasma V device we find the P-n command on Page 3. 4 n the simulator, click on the button with the device s Power n command. he new step appears in the acro spread sheet:

acro Programming 4 Program steps to power on the other components in the system. n this example, the cable box is powered on all the time, since it is a V, so the only other component to power on is the surround sound receiver. Program steps to select the correct V and eceiver input for the client s favorite activity. n this example the client s favored activity is watching able V. he cable box is connected to the V input of the urround ound receiver and the component output of the cable box is directly connected to the Plasma V s Video input. 6 Program a jump to the evice and Page they use for their favorite activity. lick on the JP icon. 7 elect the correct device and page from the Jump window. he jump appears in the acro window in the column under Jump. 8 ow, test if delays are necessary in your macro. First, turn the V and the eceiver to the wrong input, then turn off everything in the theater. Point the connected - at the system. elect the first step in the list by clicking on it. ow, click on the the receiver. id they both switch to the correct input? button. bserve the television and n the example system, the V requires four seconds of warmup before the nput will correctly change. he surround sound receiver requires two seconds, so we program a four second delay after the V and the eceiver power on. 27 P

28 P acro Programming elect the elay icon, then when the delay window opens, click on the preset amount of delay or enter any time between.1 second and 3 seconds in the ustomize window. 11 he new step appears in the list. ow, drag the delay step to the correct location. P - ometimes a change in order can provide the delay you need. ach command lasts approximately 1/3 of a second, so if you have 3 commands, one second has elapsed. 12 gain, turn the V and the eceiver to the wrong input, then turn off everything in the theater. Point the connected - at the system. elect the first step in the list by clicking on it. ow, click on the button. bserve the television and the receiver. id they both switch to the correct input? ontinue to revise the macro with delays or changes until the macro WY correctly turns everything on and switches the surround sound receiver and television to the correct input. When the macro is perfect, click on the V in the acro Window. 13 emember to save your work, click on V in the File enu.

Programming a Power ff acro acro ype Programming ection itle Power ff macro is much simpler than a Power n macro, since there are rarely any delays to test, etc. sually, to give the client some feedback that the macro is working, the V is turned off first. When you are forced to workaround a V player or V without a discrete off command, you will make the macro more reliable if you place the time consuming anchor (the play command) at the beginning of the macro. ake sure that you turn the V player off before testing this kind of workaround. You are testing the worst case, you know that a toggle type power command will turn the V player off, you are concerned about an event that might happen. he V player is already off, but the client presses the Power ff to turn everything else on. f you only programmed a toggle Power command, everything else would turn off, but the V player would turn on. his workaround ensures that the V player turns off. Finally, so that this macro will work correctly when you set up Punch hrough, program a jump to the WH pages. hus if the user presses FF after watching a V movie, the - will jump to the WH device, perfect for picking up the remote tomorrow night! opying or mporting acros for ctivity acros You can often speed programming by instantly inserting all of the steps of a previously programmed macro as the starting point of a new macro. he inserted steps are completely editable, without changing the original macro. 1 o not start recording at the new location. imply select the button where you would like the macro inserted. hen click on the P button. 2 avigate to the device and page where the original macro is programmed. lick on the button that contains the macro. ll of the steps are copied/cloned into the new button location. 4 dit as needed and click on V. ip - opy and Paste acros You can first select the button with a acro, select opy from the dit enu, then select the button without a macro and select Paste from the dit enu. he keyboard shortcuts for opy are ontrol, for Paste ontrol V. 2 P

3 Push and Hold acros By selecting this option, you now have the ability for one button to issue two different macros. ne macro is issued if the button is pressed briefly, another completely different macro is issued if the button is pressed and held. Here is a way to use Push and Hold macros that we think you might find useful for power user clients. Power users constantly switch devices and make adjustments to different components so waiting for the ctivity macros to finish reconfiguring their system can be frustrating to them. By programming each of their activity macros to only issue when they press and hold the button for two seconds, you can program each button to simply Jump to the device when they tap the button. Here s: ype acro in ection Programming itle 1 elect the button you d like to program with two different macros. 2 elect Press-Hold ode from the ype list box at the bottom of the acro Window. hen, set the in the ptions window to 2 seconds. his ensures that the client will have to Press and Hold the button two seconds to issue the acro. 3 lick on the ab at the bottom of the acro Window labeled BF, then program a jump to the device only. P When the client presses the button for less than 2 seconds, only the jump occurs.

acro Programming 4 lick on the ab at the bottom of the acro Window labeled F, and program the full macro (in the example shown; everything this system needs to Watch a V). 31 ip - everse priority for systems with both casual users and power users... Program the simple jump to occur after a press and hold, while the ctivity macros occur with a normal tap. Variable acros his another method for one button to issue two different macros. ne macro is issued when the button is pressed and a particular variable is, another completely different macro is issued if the button is pressed and the same variable is now equals 1. Variables allow you to track when a particular button has been pressed. hen when another button is pressed, you can do something different based on the previous button press. lever use of variables can enable you to add all kinds of elegant improvements to operation. Here s an example of variables, used in this case to remove the delays in the activity macros on the Watch page once the projector is on. 1 he macro to turn on the system and watch able V is very long in this example system. he projector requires 2 seconds to warm up before the inputs can be changed. P

32 acro Programming 2 n the ype list box at the bottom of the acro Window, select Variable as the type. 3 n the Variable list box that now appears, select ew Variable. 4 n the ew Variable window that opens, type in a descriptive name, then click on K. Verify that the new variable name appears in the Variable window as the selection. 6 ow your macro window displays two different tabs. ne is the macro that will be sent when the projectorpower variable =, the other when the projector power variable = 1. Program the macro in Variable= with the Power n commands and the delay, while the macro in Variable=1 does not. ProjectorPower Variable = ProjectorPower Variable = 1 P

acro Programming ip - You must program all your activity and power macros to be Variable macros ow, you must program all macros that the client might use to turn on the system with a variable change that changes the variable ProjectorPower to 1. hus no matter what button you use to turn on the system, the - will know the true status of the projector is on. ikewise all macros that turn the system off must change the variable ProjectorPower to. 7 n all macros that power on the projector, repeat steps 1-7, then add a new step to all the macros. lick on the et Variable button on the macro toolbar. 8 he et Variable window opens. elect the ProjectorPower variable and set it to a state of 1 (indicating that the projector is now powered on). fterwards, the new step appears in the macro list. n all macros that power FF the projector add a new step to the macros. lick on the et Variable button and set the Projector Power variable to equal after the projector is off. 33 P

34 P sing ounds etting the efault ound - ditor enables any button to have a sound play when the button is pressed. You can set a default sound for every button throughout the configuration as follows: 1 From the File menu select ser Preferences. he ser Preference window will open. 2 elect one of the three options: one - Your buttons will only make sounds if you drag a sound from the sound gallery to a button. efault Beep - Whenever a button that has an command or macro is pressed, the - will beep. ser efined - You browse to a file location and select a wav file that will play whenver an active button is pressed. sing the ound allery - ditor enables you to program any button with as many sounds as you like. However, for each sound, you must program a delay after the sound, long enough for the sound to play completely. o use sounds, click on the ounds icon in the macro toolbar, or select ound allery from the ools enu. imply drag a sound into a macro, then place the optimum delay after each sound. n this example four sounds play back when the button is pressed. For each sound to play, a delay must be placed after it. sing the mage allery ounds and mages he - has a limited ability to use images instead of text. First, make sure you are in imulator and Page View mode, then double click on the page you want to place an image as a button label. ouble clicking opens a new Page View and sets the imulator to the same page. ow, from the tools menu, open the mage gallery. rag an image from the gallery to the imulator View. imulator View distorts the size of the image, but allows you to drag the image to any position on the page. Page View gives you a much better idea of what the image will look like, but does allow you to drag or delete the image. By using both views side by side, you control the image position in imulate View, but judge it s position in Page View. By using both imulator and Page views side by side, you control the image position in imulate View, but judge it s position in Page View. You can import bmp or jpg images to the gallery, however, they cannot be larger than 64 pixels by 88 pixels. hey can be four color (black, white, light grey and dark grey).

Programming Punch hrough Punch hrough Punch hrough allows you to set the same functions on all devices very quickly. You can punch through any of the groups of buttons on the -. n this exampe, the Power n and Power ff buttons on every page and every device are set to punch through to the WH Power n and Power ff buttons, thus the user can power off the system without returning to WH to press Power ff. ikewise, the Volume p, own and ute have been set as a group to punch through to the surround sound receiver. fter programming, flags remind the programmer that the buttons have been set to punch through. 1 pen the Punch hrough window by clicking on the shortcut button in the toolbar or by selecting Punch hrough from the Program enu. 2 elect the devices which you want to change programming by clicking on them while holding down the key on the keyboard. f you want them all selected (normal for Volume p, own and ute), simply click on the elect ll button. ny device you select will be HHH in the Punch o list. 3 3 elect the device that has the codes you want used in the Punch From list. 4 lick on V. heck the devices you programmed, you should see the red P (Punch hrough) flag on every button affected on all the devices you programmed: P
