3 1. WHAT IS ExtremeSoft? The ExtremeSoft software enables you to print out recharge cards for the various GSM networks in Nigeria. The PINS would have been purchased and saved in a Notepad (ASCII) text document. It is then submitted to ExtremSoft which then extracts, processes and spools out well formatted recharge cards. 2. INSTALLING ExtremeSoft To ensure proper functioning of all the modules in the ExtremeSoft software package, it is essential that all the associated files are stored in the appropriate directories. Installing the software from the distribution media ensures this. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR RUNNING ExtremeSoft The ExtremeSoft Software Package needs an IBM or Compatible Computer with a recommended configuration of: - Pentium IV Processor MB RAM - 50MB Free hard disk space - Laser or DeskJet Printer SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT ExtremeSoft requires Windows XP and above to run. TO INSTALL Slot the ExtremeSoft CD into the CD Drive. It Setup Auto runs. Follow the instructions. On successful installation the ExtremeSoft Icon appears on Windows desktop. 3. STARTING ExtremeSoft AND LOGGING IN Double Click the ExtremeSoft Icon on the desktop. You must have a user account to use the ExtremeSoft system. For this, you require a login name and a password. A user called admin is automatically created when you installed the software. This is the Systems Administrator. The password is also admin. However after successful logging in with this name, you can run the Command Utilities, File Maintenance, Change Password to set or edit the password. TO LOG IN FIRST TIME 1. At the prompt login name type admin 2. At the password prompt type admin and press <Enter> All subsequent logins will have the above three procedures. However, you may be using some other login name. Note the Password does not display as you type. This is a security feature. Page: 3

THE COMPANY FILE Run the command: File, Setup, Setup Company. A dialog box appears. Enter your organizations name and click Save.

4 4. SETTING UP ExtremeSoft TO YOUR ENVIRONMENT You will need to set up the ExtremeSoft software before you can put it into active day-today use. The first step is to set up the data files. This means entering all the appropriate foundation data. THE COMPANY FILE Run the command: File, Setup, Setup Company. A dialog box appears. Enter your organizations name and click Save. This name appears under the Agent entry in all recharge cards printed. SETTING UP OPERATORS Run: Utilities, File Maintenance, Setup Operators. Page: 4

5 Store the following information on users that can log on to ExtremeSoft: User login name : a set of contiguous characters of 8 characters Max. Full names : Alphanumeric Characters of 15 Characters Max Initials : in the Form A.M. for Andrew Mordi Job Description : Manager, Receptionist etc Click on the Permissions Tab to specify what an operator can or cannot do. To assign a functionality to a user, click on the Operator s name on the Top-Left grid, Click on the desired functionality on the Top-Right grid and click the Save button. Clicking on an operators name also displays the functions possible for the particular operator. CHANGING PASSWORD It is recommended that users should change their password periodically for a higher level of security. A user has the capability of changing his password at anytime. Click Utilities Menu then Change Password. Page: 5

IMPORTING PINS FILE Run the command: File> Import>AIRTEL to import Airtel PINS from a PINS file installed on your computer file system. To import from other GSM networks, select their own PINS file.

6 Enter the following information: o Login name : select from the dropdown list o Old Password : key in your current password o New Password : Key in the new password o Confirm Password : Re-key in you new password. o Click Save of Cancel 5. USING ExtremeSoft Having setup the above data files, you could proceed strainght away to import and generate your Recharge Card Vouchers. IMPORTING PINS FILE Run the command: File> Import>AIRTEL to import Airtel PINS from a PINS file installed on your computer file system. To import from other GSM networks, select their own PINS file. A dialog box appears Enter a reference number into the text box. This number enables you track batches of Notepad PINS file that you imported. The reference number has to be unique. On entry of the reference number, the GET PINS button becomes enabled and on clicking this button, a dialog box appears that enables you locate the PINS file on you filesystem. After selecting the file, click on the EXTRACT PINS button to import. PRINTING RECHARGE CARD VOUCHERS Page: 6

Run the command: Print, Print Voucher, AIRTEL to print Airtel recharge cards. To print other GSM networks recharge cards, select their own Menu option.

Once a particular pin in the PINS database is printed as a recharge card, it shouldn t be printed a second time and ExtremeSoft ensures this.

A dialog box appears: First Print This is the first option to select. Once a particular pin in the PINS database is printed as a recharge card, it shouldn t be printed a second time and ExtremeSoft ensures this. Internally that particular PIN is marked as Printed and is prevented from being printed the next time you wish to print. The reason the Reprint option is made available is for the rare occasion where there is a printer malfunction and the recharge card that has been sent to the printer refuses to print. You could then fall on the Reprint utility to get out same card. THIS IS A RARE INCIDENT AND YOU SHOULD USUALLY NOT PRINT A RECHARGE CARD MORE THAN ONCE!!! On selecting First Print and clicking Ok another dialog box appears: Enter the range of Airtel cards you wish to generate by entering a number in the To text box. Looking at the above dialog box, you have 420 PINS ready to be printed. You put A4 papers in your printer and pages containing 20 recharge cards each would be generated. Page: 7

PURGING FILES Periodically or after completion of printing of a batch of PINS file, you could run the command Utility, Purge Files to clear off old data. This function should be used with care.

PURGE DATA FILES ONLY WHEN YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT YOU HAVE PRINTED RECHARGE CARDS FOR ALL THE PINS IMPORTED. The Purge File Dialog looks like below: You could Purge All transactions in one go (by Selecting All Transactions) or Purge a particular batch of PINS (by selecting A Transaction). For the second option, you need to enter the reference number of the batch.
