5 Introduction Rapid Test is a combination of testing hardware and an app running on an Android, Windows or ios tablet. The Rapid Test Master and channel boards enable complete functional testing of the connected RCDs. This document details how to use the Rapid Test app on a Windows tablet. 1
6 IMPORTANT INFORMATION READ FIRST! Tablet Requirements Minimum size for the tablet is 7 inches. Note: The Rapid Test app cannot be used on a mobile phone. WARNING - Reset button on the Master module If the reset button on the Master module is held for too long, the ID of the Master module is reset. This could cause loss of configuration, data and mappings. If this has been done in error, see instructions below before continuing with any further testing, downloading or uploading of data. If data has previously been uploaded to the portal, download the data and then push into the Master. The ID will be assigned again. If data has not previously been uploaded to the portal, a new ID will be assigned and uploaded to the portal. 2
7 Download the Rapid Test App 1. Ensure the tablet is connected to Wi-Fi. This can be checked in the tablet settings. 2. Press to open the Windows Store. 3. Enter Rapid Test in the top right search bar. 4. Press on the search icon or press enter. 5. Locate the Rapid Test app. 6. Press to open the app details. 7. Press Free to download the app. 8. Login to your Windows Store account. Note: If you don t already have an account, press Create one and follow the prompts. 9. The Rapid Test app downloads and the icon appears on the desktop. 3
8 Login to Rapid Test 1. Press the icon to open the Rapid Test app. 2. Enter your name, address and password as provided. 3. Press Log In. 4. The initial Rapid Test screen opens. Note: If data has been previously downloaded it will be displayed on this screen. 4
9 Navigation The app consists of 4 main screens: Session Connection Test Report A navigation bar is displayed at the top of each screen. Press the required button to jump between screens. The active screen is highlighted. Notes: It is also possible to swipe left and right to navigate between screens. If a pop-up menu or window is active, it is necessary to close it before switching between screens. Use the button in the top left to return to the previous screen. 5
10 Setup of the Rapid Test App Follow this section for instructions on how to set up the Rapid Test app if it has NOT been used before. Otherwise, refer to the section Testing. Create a Business 1. Press at the bottom of the screen. 2. Use the dropdown arrow to select which portal subscription to create the business under. 3. Press OK. 6
11 4. Enter details as required in the pop-up window that opens. Note: To create a site with the same business details, press. Enter the number of sites to create and press. 5. Press OK to save the business details. Note: Compulsory fields will be highlighted with red text if data is missing when saving. 6. The business is displayed in the Business box in the left side panel. The subscription name is displayed at the top of the box in green. 7
12 Create a Site 1. Press on the required business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 2. Press. 3. Press Add Site to this Business on the pop-up menu that opens. Or, when creating or editing a business, it is possible to create a site with the same details as the business. Press. Enter the number of sites to create and press. 4. Enter details as required in the pop-up box that opens. Note: Compulsory fields will be highlighted with red text if data is missing when saving. 5. Press OK to save the site details. 6. The site is displayed in the Sites box in the right-side panel. 8
13 Copy Business Details to a New Site 1. Press on the business to be copied. 2. Press Edit Business Details on the pop-up menu that opens. 3. The business details are displayed. 4. Press. 5. Note: The number of sites belonging to the business is indicated on the business details in the left side panel. For example,. 10
15 Copy Site Details to a New Site 1. Press on the required business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 2. Sites are displayed in the Sites box in the right side panel. 3. Press on the site to copy. 4. Press Edit this Site on the pop-up menu that opens. 5. The site details are displayed. 6. Press. 7. Each field has a toggle switch to indicate if the data should be copied. All fields are selected by default. Use the toggle switches to change the selection. 8. Enter the number of sites to be created in the field. 9. Press OK. 10. The new site(s) is displayed in the Sites box in the right-side panel. Note: The Site ID will automatically increment by 1, if selected to be copied. 11

If not all data was selected to be copied, it is necessary to edit each site and enter any missing data. a) Press next to the site to edit. b) Select Edit this Site from the pop-up menu that opens. c) Enter any missing data. d) Press OK to save the data. Or use and buttons at the top of the popup window to scroll through other sites to edit. Note: The number of sites belonging to the business is indicated on the business details in the left side panel. For example,. 12
17 Configure a Switchboard 1. Press on the required site. 2. The switchboard overview screen opens. 3. Press in the top left corner. 4. Enter details as required in the pop-up box that opens. Note: It is necessary to enter either Number or Name / ID. 5. Press OK to save the switchboard data. 6. The switchboard is displayed in the left column of the screen. 13
18 7. Press on the required switchboard to select it. The selected switchboard is highlighted in blue. 8. Press at the top of the Channel boards column. 9. A channel board appears in the list. The channel board number is assigned sequentially. 10. Press to select the channel board. The selected channel board is highlighted in blue. 11. A list of 24 channels appears in the right column. 14
19 Note: If multiple channel boards exist, the channel numbers will increase accordingly. For example, board 1 will have channels 1-24, board 2 will have 25-48, board 3 will have etc. A switchboard can have up to 10 channel boards, therefore up to 240 channels. 12. Scroll up and down the channel list and press on the required channel. 13. Enter details as required in the pop-up box that opens. Note: Default values exist for number of poles (1), phase (single), RCD rating (30) and current rating (20). Change these fields if required. 14. Press OK to save the channel details. Or use and buttons at the top of the pop-up window to scroll through other switchboards. 15. Repeat for all required channels on the board. Note: Configured channels are labelled in green. Channels that have not been configured (i.e. no circuit number) are labelled in blue. For example,. 16. Press in the top left corner to return to the Session screen. 15
20 Copy a Switchboard 1. Press on the required site to open the switchboard overview screen. 2. Press on the switchboard to be copied. 3. Switchboard details are displayed. 4. Press. 5. 21 Copy Channels 1. Press on the required site. 2. The switchboard overview screen opens. 3. Press on the switchboard to select it. The selected switchboard is highlighted in blue. 4. Channel boards are displayed. 5. Press on the required channel board to select it. The selected channel board is highlighted in blue. 6. Channels are displayed. 7. Press on the channel to be copied. 8. Channel details are displayed. 9. Press. 10. Each field has a toggle switch to indicate if the data should be copied. All fields are selected by default. Use the toggle switches to change the selection. 11. In the bottom field, specify which channel numbers to copy the data to. These can be individual channels separated by a comma e.g. 1,6,12, a range e.g. 4-9, or a combination e.g. 1,4,14-18, Edit each channel to verify details and complete any missing data. 17
22 13. Press OK to save channel data. Or use and buttons at the top of the popup window to scroll through other channels to edit. 14. Press in the top left corner to return to the Session screen. Note: Circuit number and barcode automatically increment when copying channel data. If skipping a channel number when copying e.g. copying to 2,4,6, the circuit number will skip accordingly. The barcode will always increment by 1. 18
23 View Switchboard Setup 1. Press on the required site to display an overview of the switchboard and channel board setup. 2. The switchboard overview screen opens. Note: An indicator on the site details shows how many switchboards exist for the site. 3. The screen is split into 3 columns: switchboards, channel boards and channels. 4. Press on the switchboard in the left Switchboards column to select it. The switchboard is highlighted in blue. 5. Channel boards are displayed. 6. Press on the required channel board in the middle Channel Boards column to select it. The channel board is highlighted in blue. 7. Channels are displayed. 8. Scroll through the channels in the right hand Channels column. Configured channels are labelled in green. Channels that have not been configured (i.e. no circuit number) are labelled in blue. 19
24 For example,. 9. Verify all data is correct. 10. Press in the top left corner to return to the Session screen. IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO START TESTING WITH THE RAPID TEST APP! 20
25 Testing Download Data If business, site and switchboard data has previously been uploaded to the portal, it is necessary to download the data before testing. Previously downloaded data will be displayed on the initial screen after logging in. If the business, site and switchboard data does not exist in the portal and has not been setup in the app, refer to the section Setup of the Rapid Test App. 1. Ensure the tablet is connected to Wi-Fi / 3G/ 4G. 2. Press to find an individual business to download. Or, press to download all businesses linked to a subscription. 3. Use the dropdown arrow to select which portal subscription to use for the inspection. 21
26 4. Press OK. 5. The subscription name is shown in the green bar at the top. 6. Pre-configured business, site and switchboard information is downloaded. 7. Press on a business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 8. Sites are displayed on the right hand side. 9. Press on a site to select it. The site is highlighted in blue. 10. Any existing inspections are displayed in the Inspections box in the bottom right panel. 22
27 Create an Inspection 1. Press on the required business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 2. Sites are displayed in the Sites box in the right side panel. 3. Press on the required site. Or, press and select Add New Inspection to this Site on the pop-up menu that opens. Or, press when creating or editing a site. 4. Enter a name and ID for the inspection in the pop-up box. 5. Verify the Next Test date field. The default is set to 6 months. Use the dropdown arrow to change if necessary. 6. Press OK to save the details. 7. The inspection is displayed in the Inspections box in the bottom right panel. 8. Press on the required inspection. 9. The Connection screen opens. 23
28 10. A Loading message appears. This indicates the app is searching for available Wi-Fi networks on Rapid Test switchboards. 11. A list of available Wi-Fi networks is displayed. Only networks pre-fixed with RT are listed. Note: Normally there will only be one Wi-Fi network found. If multiple are displayed, verify the name of the one to connect to on the Master module in the switchboard. 24
29 Connect to the Wi-Fi on the Switchboard IMPORTANT: Ensure the Wi-Fi is active on the Master module. This is indicated by a green light on the Master module (if available to view). If the Wi-Fi is inactive, press the Wi-Fi wake button located on the switchboard escutcheon or side of the switchboard or on the Rapid Test box to re-activate. Alternatively switch on the dedicated circuit breaker for power. The Wi-Fi disconnects after 15 minutes of inactivity. 1. On the Connection screen, press on the required Wi-Fi network. 2. Enter the password in the pop-up box that opens. The default password is rapidtest (case sensitive). 3. Press OK to connect. Note: Clicks may be heard which indicate the tablet is connecting to the switchboard. 4. Messages appear indicating Rapid Test is carrying out a series of checks. Note: The checks are verifying the app, the switchboard data and configuration match. If there is a mismatch, an error will occur. The error will differ depending on where the check has failed. Refer to the section Troubleshooting for further details on how to correct the issue. 5. If all the checks are successful, the Test screen opens displaying the switchboard details to be tested. Note: If this is the first time connecting to the switchboard, a series of messages may appear. Refer to the section Troubleshooting for more details. 25
30 Normal RCD Test IMPORTANT: Ensure the RCDs are turned on before testing. 1. On the Test screen, press on the channel to select it for testing. Or, to select all channels, press at the top of the screen. 2. Enabled channels are highlighted. Note: Only configured channels can be enabled and tested. On the switchboard details screen, configured channels are labelled in green. Channels that have not been configured (i.e. no circuit number) are labelled in blue. For example,. 3. Press at the top of the screen to start the test. Or, to test an individual channel, press on the required channel. 26
31 4. Tests are carried out in channel sequence order. The highlighted channel is the test in progress. 5. Trip time, pass / fail status and number of tests are updated for each channel. - Indicates the channel passed the test. - Indicates the channel failed the test. The border colour of the channel also changes to green or red accordingly. Note: If the RCD is not switched on, the following message appears: If the channel requires testing, switch the RCD on and press Retry. If the channel doesn t require testing, choose Skip or Tagged Off, if applicable. IMPORTANT: Reset the RCDs after testing. Switch off the Wi-Fi on the Master module when testing is complete. The Wi-Fi will automatically time out after 15 minutes. 27
32 Stop the Test To stop the test before it is finished, press at the bottom of the Test screen. Note: This could take a few seconds as the unit finishes the current channel testing cycle and then goes through a safety procedure to ensure it is safe to shut down. 28
33 Half Trip (Nuisance) and Fast (5x) Testing 1. On the Test screen, press on the required channel. 2. Use the toggle switches to select which tests to carry out and at which phase angle. 3. Press to start all tests selected. 4. Trip time and status are updated. Note: The yellow tick indicates the test is complete. This is for information only and does not affect compliance status. It is possible to change the half and fast tests to be classed as normal trip tests. The result would then be indicated by the standard green tick or red cross. Refer to the section Settings to change this. 5. The following message appears between tests: 6. Reset the RCD. 7. Press OK to start the next test. Note: To set default half and fast trip tests for all tests, refer to the option Auto sequence for Option Test in Settings. If required, the defaults can be overridden per individual channel when testing in the Option window as above. 29
34 Visual Fail 1. On the Test screen, press on the required channel. 2. Use the Visual Fail toggle switch. 3. The channel is marked as a fail. 4. Enter a reason in the comments box. 5. Press OK. 6. The channel now has a status of Fail. 30
35 Unable to Test a Channel 1. On the Test screen, press on the required channel. 2. Use the Unable to Test toggle switch. 3. The channel is marked as a fail. 4. Enter a reason in the comments box. 5. Press OK. 6. The channel now has a status of Fail. 31
36 Tagged Out RCD 1. On the Test screen, press on the required channel. 2. Use the Tagged Out toggle switch. 3. The channel is marked as a fail. 4. Enter a reason in the comments box. 5. Press OK. 6. The channel now has a status of Fail. 32
37 View Test Results 1. On the Test screen, a green or red tick against the channel indicates the pass or fail status. - Indicates the channel passed the test. - Indicates the channel failed the test. The border colour of the channel also changes to green or red accordingly. 2. Press on an individual channel to see the detailed results. 3. If multiple tests have been done, all results will be displayed. The last test result will be the one assigned as the overall result. 4. Press OK to close the test details pop-up box. 33
38 Delete Test Results Delete Individual Test Result 1. On the Test screen, press to view the results. 2. Press Delete on the required result. 3. Press Yes on the confirmation message. 4. The test disappears from the results list. Delete All Test Results 1. On the Test screen, press. 2. Press Yes on the confirmation message to delete all results. 34
39 Reporting 1. Navigate to the Report screen using the link at the top of the screen. 2. Press on the required business for reporting. 3. Completed inspections are listed in the Inspections box. 4. Press to select the required inspection. 35

42 Upload to the Portal Note: It is necessary to be subscribed to the Rapid Test portal to use this functionality. Please refer to the website for details of how to subscribe. 1. Navigate to the Report screen using the link at the top of the screen. 2. Press on the required business. 3. Completed inspections are listed in the Inspections box. 4. Press Upload on the required inspection. Note: Wi-Fi network or 3G / 4G connectivity is required to upload. Ensure you are disconnected from the Master module Wi-Fi. 5. The Connections screen opens. Press Connect on the required Wi-Fi network, if using Wi-Fi to upload. 6. Test results will be uploaded to the portal. 38

52 Delete an Inspection 1. On the Session screen, press on the required business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 2. Sites are displayed in the Sites box in the right side panel. 3. Press on a site to view a list of inspections in the Inspections box in the bottom right panel. 4. Press on the required inspection. 5. Press Delete this Inspection on the pop-up menu that opens. 6. 53 Delete a Channel Board Note: If a channel board is deleted, the channels numbers on existing boards may change. For example, if there are 3 channel boards and the middle board is deleted, channel board 3 becomes number 2 and the channels become numbers (instead of 49-72). 1. On the Session screen, press on the required business to select it. The business is highlighted in blue. 2. Sites are displayed in the Sites box in the right side panel. 3. Press on the required site. 4. The switchboard overview screen opens. 5. Locate the required switchboard from the list. Press to select it. 6. Channel boards appear. 7. Press on the required channel board. 8. A confirmation message appears. Press Yes to delete. 9. Press in the top left corner to return to the Session screen. 49
54 Settings 1. Press in the top right corner of the screen. 2. Press Settings. 3. The following options can be changed: Play sound on test fail Toggle between OFF and ON to play a sound if a test fails. Play sound on test success Toggle between OFF and ON to play a sound if a test is successful. Business Name Press to enter the name of the company carrying out the testing. Login credentials Press to enter the default username and password for uploading and downloading data. User s name Press to enter the name of the person carrying out the testing. Switchboard password Press to enter the default password for the switchboard. Internet password Press to enter the default password for the internet for uploading and downloading data. Use 3G connection Use the toggle to select if a 3G connection should be used whenever available. Phase angle Press to select the default phase angle for testing. Choose between 0 or 180 degrees or any angle. Half trip as normal trip test Use the toggle to select if a half trip is to be classed as a normal test. Fast trip as normal trip test Use the toggle to select if a fast trip is to be classed as a normal test. Auto sequence for option test Select which tests will be selected by default. This can also be changed per channel when testing. 50

56 FAQs QUESTION ANSWER Which Wi-Fi to choose if multiple exist on the Connection screen. Check on the Master module in the switchboard What happens if a Master module is relocated? The serial number / ID on the Master module and database won t match. An information message will appear to update the database. Can data be created and saved offline? Yes Is a portal subscription compulsory? Yes. Refer to the website for details of how to subscribe. Unable to download data but technician is on site and needs to test. Do not create new data locally and upload as this will create duplicate business and site in the database. It is necessary to download before testing. 52
57 Troubleshooting PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION Rapid Test Wi-Fi has been disconnected. The Rapid Test Wi-Fi module disconnects after 15 minutes of inactivity. Active Wi-Fi is indicated by a green light on the Master module (if available to view). Press the Wi-Fi wake button located on the switchboard escutcheon, side of the switchboard or on the Rapid Test box to re-activate. Alternatively switch on the dedicated circuit breaker for power. Message on the Connection screen: RT switchboards not found, please check connection and press Refresh Switchboard Wi-Fi is not connected. Ensure the Wi-Fi is active on the switchboard. See above. Ensure the required RT_ Wi-Fi network is connected in the tablet settings. Press Refresh once Wi-Fi is activated. Message: New Rapid Test Master board has been found No mappings are set up on the Master board. Press OK to set up the Master board if not uploaded data before. Or download data from the portal if it has been previously uploaded. Error: Invalid results / Missing topology Communication issue between the Master and channel board. Ensure the comms lead is connected between the Master and channel boards. Unable to connect to the portal to download / upload data. The tablet is not connected to Wi-Fi. Or subscription is not selected. Connect to Wi-Fi or use a 3G / 4G connection Ensure the password is correct for the subscription selected. Unable to see the sites linked to a business The business is not selected. Press on a business to select it. Unable to see the inspections for a site. The site is not selected. Press on a site to select it. 53
58 PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION Tests keep failing or No power to the unit. Or, RCDs switched off. Ensure there is power and all RCDs are switched on. Unable to see channel boards for a switchboard. The switchboard is not selected. Press on a switchboard to select it. Message: Master Serial number / ID doesn t match database. Connect and update database. Or cancel Master module has been swapped so the serial number / ID is different to that on the database for this switchboard. To correct the database, press ok to update. The new serial number will be sent to the portal next upload. It is not possible to update the serial number on the Master module. Switchboard mappings do not match the app. This may happen if data has been pre-programmed in the portal. Or if the switchboard has been changed, for example RCDs added. Select Update Device mapping to copy mappings from the tablet to the switchboard. Or select Update Local Data to copy changes on the switchboard to the tablet. The number of channel boards is different in the device than on the app. For example, the Master module has 2 channel boards connected, but only one has been set up in the app. Manually edit the switchboard data in the app to ensure the number of boards is the same. Connect again. This is the first time connecting to the switchboard. Select the required switchboard from the list and press OK. 54
