2 1. What is Photoshop? Adobe Photoshop is one of the most powerful image modification programs on the market today. It is widely used throughout the world, and has shown its handiwork to the public through altered photos of famous people, such as President Bush. It is so dominant that when we notice that an image has been altered, we say it has been Photoshopped. While this handout offers some very basic tips on using the tools available in Photoshop, more comprehensive guidance can be accessed on the web or in the help menu of your version of Photoshop. The version used for this tutorial is Adobe Photoshop CS. 2. About the Work Area The work area can be intimidating to work with because of all the complex functionality but with a quick breakdown of the available features and their uses, you will be ready to comfortably navigate the work area with ease. The work area in Photoshop has the following basic functionality and features: Menu Bar this is where you can access most of the commands and features in Photoshop Drawing Palette where the image being worked on will appear Options bar content sensitive display of tool options changes as different tools are selected display using Window > Options or Click a tool in the toolbox. Lasso options bar Tool box - for creating an editing images (display or hide using Windows > Tools) Palettes - to monitor and modify images (there are 5 palettes by default) Palette Well - to organize palettes in work area Drag a palette s tab into the palette well to store it in the palette well Once in the palette well click on the palette tab to use it - 2 -

4 Design No. 1 Text With background Note: For Beginners level In this project you will learn: How to create new Document How to deal with text How to deal with Layers & Layer Styles How to change text with background. 1. Open Photoshop program. 2. From File menu choose New. 3. Write the file name. 4. Determent the file size. 2.Double click on the background layer. 3. Press Ok. Double click here - 4 -

5 4. Press left click on adjustment layer tool. 5. Choose Gradient. 6. Choose the gradient you want. 7. Choose the style. 8. Make the Angle = 0 9. Reduce the Scale. 10. Press OK 11. Hide the background layer. Click here - 5 -

6 12. Select the Text tool from tool box. Click here 13. Write Nozha School. 14. Select the text and make it bold. 15. Change the size to 60 Change the style to Berlin Sans FB Demi. 16. Change the colour. 17. Press Create Warped Text. 18. Choose The style. 19. Press OK 20. From Edit menu choose Free Transform. 21. Adjustment the text then press Enter. 22. Hide the Text layer. 23. Select the Text tool from tool box. 24. Write I Love My School. Click here - 6 -

7 25. Select the text and make it bold. 26. Open Edit menu and choose Copy Or Ctrl + C. 27. Open Edit menu and choose paste Or Ctrl + V 28. Repeat this operation until the page is complete. 29. Right Click on " I Love My School " Layer. 30. Choose Convert to Smart Object. 31. Press Ctrl + Click on "Nozha School " Layer. 32. Choose selected tool from tool box. 33. Go inside The selected area. 34. Press Right click and choose Layer via copy. 35. Hide the " I Love My School " layer. 36. Unhide "Nozha School " Layer. 37. Unhide the background layer

8 Design No. 2 Text Effect Tutorial Note: For Beginners level In this project you will learn: How to create new Document How to deal with text How to deal with Layers & Layer Styles How to deal with Filters & Lights Step 1: Open the program [Start menu>all programs>adobe Photoshop CS4] - 8 -

9 Step 2: Create a new File [File menu>new], and make the following changes Step 3: Change the background layer to a normal layer [Layer menu>new>layer from Background], Then press ok Tips: Or you can just double click on the background layer, and then press ok for the New Layer Window - 9 -

10 Step 4: Change the background color from dark grey to darker grey [Layer menu>layer Style>Gradient Overlay] Tips: Or you can add the style from the Layer Panel Click on [FX > Gradient Overlay]

11 Step 5: Create your text, by selecting the Type Tool, or just press T from your keyboard I. Make the following changes 1. Font Type 2. Font size 3. Text alignment II. Then Click inside the document and start typing, for example (NOZHA Now in 3D) As follow III. After you finish typing click on the Move Tool to position your text Tips: To Change or edit your text, you can select the Type Tool again and highlight your text and make your changes Like in the previous picture Text Font Type Font Size NOZHA Arial 300 pt Now in Arial 50 pt 3D Impact 350 pt

12 Step 6: We are going to make the text looks like a 3D text As you select the text layer [Layer menu>layer Style>Drop Shadow] I. Make the following changes II. And from the same window click on Bevel and Emboss as follow

13 III. Then click on Gradient Overlay and use the color range from #c2c8d4 To #495a79 Then make the following changes Tips: How to Change the Gradient color I. Click on the color Stop II. Click on the color III. Then pick the color that you like IV. Or type the color value over here You Should now have a something like that

14 Step 7: I. Create a new layer [Layer>New>Layer], Or press Shift+Ctrl+N Then press OK for the New Layer window II. Select the and draw 4 to 5 rectangles like this

15 III. Fill the selection with white [Edit menu>fill>use>white] IV. Transform the white stripes [Edit menu>free Transform] and start transform the selection to look like that, then press Enter to finish Tips: as selecting the corners click on Ctrl+Shift to change the transform perspective, and move the mouse out side the Transform selection to rotate the layer

16 Step 8: I. Now set the blending mode of the layer to Overlay and the Opacity to 20% II. Then we will add a blur to the light strips [Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur] and change the Radius to 6.0 You Should now have something that looks like that

17 Step 9: I. Create a new layer just above the Background with a Pinkish color Select Layer 0 then press the Create a new layer icon as shown II. Change the Blending mode to Color and the Opacity to 20% III. Fill the layer with a Pinkish color #9d506c To have a nice reddish warmth background like these

18 Step 10: I. Create a new layer just above the Pinkish layer and fill it with a white color and change the Blending mode to Overlay II. Then go to [Filter>Render>Lighting Effects] then make these changes III. Duplicate the layer, as you select the lighting layer go to [Layer menu>duplicate Layer ] Then press OK, and finally move the duplicated layer above all other layers and change the Opacity to 75% to finally have a something like that

21 38. Open Photoshop program. 39. From File menu choose New. 40. Write the file name. 41. Determent the file size. 42. change Resolution= (300) 43. Double click on the background layer. 44. Press Ok. 45. Press left click on adjustment layer tool. 46. Choose Gradient. 47. Choose the gradient you want. 48. Choose the style = Radial. 49. Make the Angle = Reduce the Scale = Press OK

22 52. Select text tool and write number (3) and change color. 53. Select text tool again and write letter (D) and change color

23 54. Select layer (d) and layer (3) press (ctrl) key from keyboard, choose any select tool then right click on text (3), (d) and select free transform. 55. Press shift + Alt from keyboard and drag from the corner. 56. Hide layer (d). 57. Select layer (3) and convert it normal layer right click and select to convert to smart object

24 58. Press any select tool and right click then select free transform and select Distort and change Distort and make change you want. 59. Press right on layer (3) and select Duplicate layer

25 60. Press background of layer "copy of layer letter (3)". 61. Select eraser tool and press click in the layer. 62. Press ok in the dialog box. 63. Press right click and choose free transform

26 64. Press ctrl from keyboard and select Edit menu then press "fill" and select color then press ok

27 65. Press ctrl + D to delete selection. 66. Press select tool then move layer (D) copy. 67. Repeat the steps from (15 to 28). 68. Make link between layer (3) and layer (3 copy). 69. Make link between layer (D) and layer (D copy)

Server computer Is a central computer attached to a network where users on the network can save their files and information. Greater than a PC, often more than 160 GB More expensive than a PC but not as expensive as a mainframe Personal Data Assistant ( PDA ) Is a handheld computer that is generally used to keep track of appointments and addresses. Much smaller than a PC 64 MB to 8 GB. Expensive when compared to the capacity of a PC

37 Networks A computer network consists of two or more computers that are connected together. They could be in the same room, in the same building or on opposite sides of the world. There are several benefits of using a network : 1. Sharing resources such as printers : 2. Sharing files and data 3. Fast diverging and effective communication 4. Reducing costs as devices can be shared What is the web? The world wide web is a collection of electronic documents that are linked together like a spider web. These documents are stored on computers called servers located around the world How the web works? Web pages are stored on web servers located around the globe Entering the (Uniform Resource Locator) URL

A web page ( such as the one you are looking at now ) is an electronic document written in a computer language called HTML Web pages can contain text, graphics, video, animation and sound. Web sites : A website is one or more web page that relate to a common theme, such as a person, business, organization, or a subject, such as sports Navigating the web : There are three main ways to move between web pages or websites : Clicking a text, Hyperlink, Clicking a hyperlinked graphic image and Typing the URL of a web page in the location box. Web Browsers : A web browser is a software program used to access the world wide web. The two most are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. popular browsers. Internet services : 1.
