1 Penny Hockey Chapter 10 Assembly Motion Study A. Rename Penny Mate. Step 1. Open your PENNY HOCKEY ASSEMBLY file. Step 2. Expand Mates in the Feature Manager and select the last Mate, Fig. 1. This should be the Mate between the bottom face of Penny and top face of Base. Step 3. Press F2 on keyboard and rename Mate PENNY FACE AND BASE FACE SUP, Fig. 2. We renamed Mate at this time as it is easy to find. Later we will suppress this Mate to free the Penny to flop around in the Motion Study. Fig. 1 B. Save as "PENNY HOCKEY MOTION STUDY". 7 F. Rename Last Two Mates. Step 1. Expand Mates in the Feature Manager and select the second to last Mate, Fig. 27. This should be the Mate between the front face of Frame and front face of Slide. Step 2. Press F2 on keyboard and rename Mate FRAME FACE AND SLIDE FACE SUP, Fig. 28. Later we will suppress this Mate to free the Slide to slide in the Motion Study. Fig. 28 Step 3. Select the last Mate and rename Mate POINT ON SKETCH AND PENNY ORIGIN SUP, Fig. 29. This should be the Mate between the Point on Sketch and Penny Origin. Next, we will suppress these Mates to free the Slide to slide and Penny to move off the Origin in the Motion Study. Fig. 27 Fig. 29 G. Create Suppress Mates Folder. Step 1. Ctrl click the 3 Renamed Mates in the Feature Manager to select all three, Fig. 30. Right click one of the selected Mates and click Add to New Folder from the menu. Step 2. Rename the folder SUPPRESS, Fig. 31. Step 3. Move the SUPPRESS folder to top of Mates in Feature Manager. To move the folder, drag Suppress folder up, when the yellow pointer is over Mates Fig. 32. release folder, Fig. 30 Step 4. Save. Use Ctrl-S. 8 H. Test Suppressed Mates. Step 1. Rotate view to view as shown in Fig. 33. Hold down middle mouse button (wheel) and drag. Step 2. We will suppress the Suppress folder Mates to free up the Parts so they can move in the Motion Study. Then, unsurpassed the folder to return the Parts back it their start position. You must remember the Parts will not move in the Study if the parts are not Suppressed. Step 3. Right click SUPPRESS folder in the Feature Manager and click Suppress from the menu, Fig. 34. The folder is gray indicating the folder is Suppressed. This frees up the parts to move. Step 4. Grab the Penny and pull it up off the Base, Fig. 35. Fig. 33 Step 5. Grab the Slide and slide it along construction line of sketch, Fig. 35. Fig. 35 Step 6. Right click SUPPRESS folder in the Feature Manager and click Unsuppress from the menu, Fig. 36.
