2 User Manual This Quick Start Guide is designed to provide instructions on the basic operations of the device. Please read the guide carefully before using the device. If the device is not used for long time, please charge and discharge it every 3 months to protect the battery. Precautions Charging: Do not use the recorder while charging. Do not leave the recorder on the bed, under the pillow or any locations easily accessible to children. Always keep the device in a safe place. Reminder: Do not press the power button while recording to avoid losing the current recording data. Interference: All devices are prone to possible interference which may affect their functions. Therefore, keep your recorder away from any source of interference when recording. Back up: Always back up all your files in case of external error or manual failure to avoid losing your data. Transmission: Do not disconnect the recorder from the computer during data transmission process to avoid losing the data. Digital Voice Recorder Pen Page 2

Volume down (long press)/next file button (short press) 5. Play/Pause button 6. USB Port/Headphone jack Please note that the pen recording function will not work if the headphone is plugged in. Please make sure to not plug in your headphone if you are trying to record. To Record: Push the record button up to start recording. The indicator light will blink rapidly to let you know that it s about to begin recording. The indicator light will disappear and this mean you are now in recording mode. To stop recording, pull the same button down. The indicator light will flash a few times and disappear. The recording is now off. The file is auto saved in the pen s memory card. While in recording mode, the pen will automatically record any sound/voice that s in its proximity. Dead air will not be recorded. This is due to the pen s voice activated feature. For example, if you are recording yourself talking for 1 minute. You leave the room without turning off the recording session and come back after 5 minutes to start talking again for another 2 minutes. The dead air time of 5 minutes while you are away will not be recorded. Only 3 minutes total will be recorded on the file. The pen will record up to 8 hours continuously and will save as one file after every 8 hours. Digital Voice Recorder Pen Page 3

The battery will be fully charged after 2 hours. The indicator light flashes red while charging and turns to blue when fully charged. To Play With the device switched off, plug in headphones and push power button up to turn it on. Press the play button to listen to the recording. You can listen to the recording on the pen or on the computer. Short press + button to select the previous file, short press - button to select the next file. Long press + button to increase volume, long press - button to lower volume. Connect to computer Insert USB data cable and connect it to your computer to play the file. When the device is switched off, plug the data cable into the device, and plug the Other end into one of the USB ports on your computer. Then USB DISK pops up after being recognized in a few seconds. 5 To Play Files on Window Laptop Insert USB data cable and connect it to your computer to play the file. A USB DISK will pop up on the screen. You can open the files and play the selected files. To Play Files on Window Laptop *You will need to install VLC Players to play the files. (it helps improve the quality of the recordings) VLC Players can be downloaded online. Please Google it for download link. 1/ Insert USB data cable and connect it to your computer to play the file. A USB DISK will pop up on the screen. 2/ Select all the files you want to play. 3/ Right click and select Open With then select VLC player. Selected Files will be played in order in VLC Player. To Install Voice Activated Feature 1/ Download the Voice Activation Extension at 2/ Insert USB data cable and connect it to your computer to play the file. A USB DISK will pop up on the screen. Open the USB Disk. 3/ Copy and Paste the downloaded VA Extension to the USB Disk. 4/ Change the first two numbers to 4 4 (There s a video on our website under the instruction page that shows you how to do this. Please visit Notes: 0 means turning off voice activated mode means turning voice activated mode on. The number is smaller, the sensitivity is higher and the sound of start recording is louder, vice versa, while the number is bigger, the sensitivity is lower and the sound of start recording is lower, too. 7 (1) Unable to turn on A. Recharge it iff the battery has run down. B. Turn off your recorder and switch on again or reset if it crashed due to incorrect operation. (2) Unable to record A. Recharge it if the battery has run down. B. Delete some files if your number of recording files is over 999. C. Delete some files if your memory is full. (3) No sound in headphones A. Please connect the headphones again. B. Please increase volume. (4) USB DISK doesn t pop up after connecting the device to your computer. A.
