5 General Information & Safety Instructions Battery Care To get the best out of the battery, fully charge and use till flat for the first 5-6 times. Then use till flat and fully charge at least once a month. Prolonged storage without charge may cause damage to the battery and result in poor to no charge. It is recommended you fully charge the battery every 6 months for long term storage to keep the battery in good condition. This camera is powered by an internal 400mAh lithium battery. Do not dispose of batteries in your household waste. Please contact your local authority for details on safe disposal. Do not expose this Power Bank to damp or moist conditions. Never throw batteries into a fire or expose to excessive heat sources. If batteries are swallowed, please seek immediate medical attention. Always ensure correct +/- battery polarity when installing batteries. Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Equipment, which is marked with the WEEE logo (as shown on the left), should not be thrown away with your household waste. Contact your local authority waste disposal department, as they will be able to provide details of the recycling options available in your area. Electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) contains materials, parts and substances, which can be dangerous to the environment and harmful to human health if the waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is not disposed of correctly. 9 Setup First time use & Charging After removing the camera from the packaging, connect the mini USB cable supplied to the camera and the other end to a USB port to charge. The camera will take approximately 4 hours to fully charge on a USB 2.0 port. The red LED indicator light will go out once it is fully charged. Attach the camera mount to the camera using either of the fittings on the top or bottom or the camera body. Turn the mount until it is finger tight, readjust the position of the camera to face in the direction you want and secure into place with the locking nut on the screw mount. Lock Position Release Position (Please see legal requirements on page 25 before fitting) Damp the sucker cup with water and place it on the window screen. Press the leaver down to secure it in place. To release lift the leaver up and remove the mount from the window screen. 6
10 Setup Turning the Camera On After the camera has been fully charged and mounted correctly, Press and hold the button on the side marked till the Welcome screen appears on the display. The camera will load up and show the HUD overlay and the live view. You can start to record by pressing the OK button. This will record to the 1Mb internal memory unless you have inserted a Micro SD Card. If the camera is connected to the in-car adaptor it will automatically turn on and record when the vehicle is turned on. 7
11 Modes Available Modes This camera has 3 modes of use, Video, Camera and Play back. To change between the available modes press and hold the 2 seconds and release. Video Mode Press the OK button to start recording continuously. A red dot will appear on the HUD next to the camera icon to confirm it is recording. Please see the Video Options on page 10 for further settings. Camera Mode Press the OK button to take a photo. The screen will go blank for a few seconds while the image is processed. Please see the Camera Options on page 13 for further settings. Playback Mode Use the and buttons to navigate through the available videos and photos and press OK to view the file. Please see the Playback Options on page 17 for further settings. LED Mode Press the On/Off button to turn on or off the inbuilt LED. Please Note: Do not use this function while driving as the light will reflect a glare off the windowscreen. for 8
12 Zoom Screen Zoom Press the up button to zoom in and the down button to zoom out. The zoom range is up to X4. This function does not work in playback. HDMI Setting Up HDMI Insert the mini HDMI cable to the camera body and the other end to a TV/Monitor. The camera display will blank out and the image should appear on the TV/Monitor on the correct input. Please Note: The camera will not record or take photos in this mode. 9
13 Video Options Video Options Menu Press the button to access the camera s menu. Here you can change various settings linked to the camera as well as features. To navigate the menu use the & to move up and down the available options and the OK button to select. Resolution This option will allow you to select the recording resolution. Options: 1080FHD 1920 x P 1440 x P 1280 x 720 WVGA 848 x 480 VGA 640 x 480 QUGA 320 x 240 Please Note: The larger the pixel size the larger the file size is going to be when recording. A 3 minute long 1080P HD video file with audio uses approximately 290MB of storage space. 10
14 Video Options Loop Recording This option will continually record over a loop of a pre-select amount of time. This will record until the card is full. You can select an amount of time to record for from the following: Options: Off, 3 minutes, 5 minutes & 10 minutes An Icon on the HUD will appear when this option is Active. Exposure This option will allow the camera to see and record clearly in low and bright light situations. Options: Strong Day Light /3 +4/ /3 +1/3 Normal /3-2/ /3-5/3 Low Light -2.0 Use the plus numbers in bright light and the negative numbers in low light. This will allow for a clearer exposed image for the camera to record. Your EV (exposure value) will be displayed on the HUD. 11
15 Video Options Motion Detection This option will start to record when the camera detects movement. When the camera fails to detect movement it will stop. You will need to cover the lens or eject the SD card to access menu options. Options: ON / OFF Record Audio This option will allow the camera to record audio with the video. Options: ON / OFF Please Note: Recording audio will increase the file size of the recording. Date Stamp This option will record the time and date as an overlay on the video. Options: ON / OFF Please Note: This option is preferable if the file is required as evidence. G-Sensitivity This option will allow the camera to lock the file being recorded and save it. You can change the sensitivity of the G-sensor to match normal driving conditions so it will trigger correctly. Options: OFF, 2G, 4G & 8G 12
16 Camera Options Camera Option Menu Press the button to access the camera s option menu. Here you can change various settings. To navigate the menu use the & to move up and down the available options and the OK button to select. 13
17 Camera Options Capture Mode This option will allow the camera to either take a single image on command or take an image after a count down. Options: Single, 2S Timer, 5S Timer & 10S Timer Resolution This option will allow you to set the pixel size of the photo. Options: 12M 4032x M 3648x2736 8M 3264x2448 5M 2592x1944 3M 2048x1536 2MHD 1920x M 1280x960 VGA 640x480 Sequence This option will allow you to take a sequence of 3 photos once the OK button is pressed. Options: ON / OFF Quality This option will allow you to select the quality output of the photos. Options: Fine, Normal & Economy 14
18 Camera Options Sharpness This option will allow the camera to change the amount of digital sharpness on each photo taken. Options: Strong, Normal & Soft White Balance This option will allow the camera to expose for the correct colour Options: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten & Fluorescent Colour This option will allow you to set the camera s image output. Options: Colour, Black & White & Sepia ISO This option will allow you to change the sensitivity of the sensor: Options: Auto, 100, 200 & 400 Please Note: The higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is to light. 15
19 Camera Options Exposure This option will allow the camera to see and record clearly in low and bright light situations. Options: Strong Day Light /3 +4/ /3 +1/3 Normal /3-2/ /3-5/3 Low Light -2.0 Use the plus numbers in bright light and the negative numbers in low light. This will allow for a clearer exposed image for the camera to record. Your EV (exposure value) will be displayed on the HUD. Anti-Shake This option will allow the camera to compensate for a certain amount of camera shake to keep images clear. Options: ON / OFF Quick Preview This option will allow the photo taken to be instantly displayed for a select amount of time. Options: OFF, 2sec & 5sec 16
20 Camera Options Date Stamp This option will allow the camera to record clearly in the photo the date and/or time. Options: OFF, Date & Date/Time Please Note: This is option is preferable if the file is required as evidence. Playback Options Playback Menu Option Press the button to access the camera s option menu. Here you can change various settings. To navigate the menu use the & to move up and down the available options and the OK button to select. 17
21 Playback Options Delete This option will allow you to delete photos and videos taken. Options: Delete Current & Delete All A submenu option will pop up: Erase This? Options: Cancel & OK Protect This option will allow to secure the photo(s) and/or video files from being deleted. Options: Lock Current, Unlock Current, Lock All & Unlock All Please Note: This option does not safeguard from the format option. Slide Show This option will allow you to set how long you can view each of the images stored on the camera. Options: 2sec, 5sec & 8sec 18
22 System Settings System Settings Menu Press the button twice to access the camera s system menu on any mode. Here you can change various settings To navigate the menu use the & to move up and down the available options and the OK button to select. 19
23 System Settings Date / Time This option will allow you to set the time and date including the way the date format is presented on the recording only. Use the up and down buttons to change the value of the highlighted number. Press the OK button to move on to the next number and repeat the process to change the value. You can change the format of the date by cycling through the available options: DD/MM/YY YY/MM/DD MM/DD/YY DD = Date, MM = Month & YY = Year After setting the format pressing OK will save and exit this screen. 20
24 System Settings Auto Power Off This option will allow the camera turn itself off if it s not in use. Options: OFF, 1 Minute, 2 Minutes, 3 Minutes, 5 Minutes & 10 Minutes Beep Sound This option will record the time and date as an overlay on the video. Options: ON / OFF Language This option will allow you to select the language displayed on the HUD and menu options. Options: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian & Japanese. TV Mode This option will allow you to select the output of the HDMI port. Options: PAL (UK) & NTSC (USA) Frequency This option will allow you to select the HDMI signal output. Options: 50Hz & 60Hz 21
25 System Settings Screen Saver This option will allow you to set the screen saver for the display. Options: OFF, 3 Minutes, 5 Minutes & 10 Minutes While you are recording in this mode the LED will flash blue. Image Rotation This option will allow change the orentation of the display. Options: On & Off (Turns the screen upside down). Format This option will allow you to format the inserted SD card. Options: SD Card A sub menu will show to confirm that all data will be deleted. Options: Cancel & Ok Default Setting This option will allow you to restore the camera to it s original default settings. Use this option first to resolve and software issues. Options: Cancel & Ok Version This option will display the current version of software used. 22
26 Micro SD Card Micro SD Card Requirements Micro SD Card 32GB or less Class 4 minimum. Class 6 maximum Using a Micro SD Card Insert the micro SD card in to the micro SD card slot on the body of the camera. Push until it clicks into place. Go through the menu settings and format the card. Your card is now ready to record. To remove the card press it in till it clicks, then let go and pull the card out. Inserting or removing the SD card will cause the camera to turn off if it is removed while the camera is on. Accessing the Micro SD Card There are 2 ways to access the micro SD card. Through a card reader (not supplied) or via the mini USB port. Connect the mini USB cable to the camera and the other end to a desktop/laptop. This will put the camera into mass storage mode. 23
27 Micro SD Card Navigate through your file tree and look for Removable Disk. Once this has been accessed open the folder DCIM if you have recorded anything this will be listed in folders. The folders are named in 8 digits which are broken down into first 4 digits are hours and minutes followed by the next 4 being the month and day. e.g (hour), 30 (minutes), 05 (month) & 26(day) The files are recorded as the first 4 digits being time and the last 4 being the file number. e.g (hour), 30 (minutes) & 0001(file number) Playback of Recording If your hardware supports.mov files it will automatically play in a media player that is available by double clicking on the file icon..mov is a Quick Time file format available on most desktops and laptops. 24
28 Legal Requirements Windscreen Mounted / Illegal Car Cams - Road Traffic Act 1988 Red zone = a 29cm wide band centered on the steering column and bounded top and bottom by the wiper swept area. Key: Red Zone Pink Zone Please be aware, if you use a suction mounted car camera in the UK, if the device (camera and / or cradle and / or suction cup) intrudes more than 4cm into the secondary (pink) wiper clearance zone, or intrudes more than 1cm into the primary (red) wiper clearance zone of the windscreen, you are committing a serious traffic offence (dangerous driving) under the UK Road Traffic Act 1988, and your vehicle is not roadworthy (it would fail an MOT). Also / in addition, if you use a car camera with an LCD screen, if the screen is on for any of the time while you are driving and you, the driver, can view that screen, you are also committing a serious traffic offence. The driver must not operate or adjust a car camera unless the vehicle is parked safely other wise (the same as using a mobile phone) you are also committing a serious traffic offence as car cameras are not classed as a driving aid. 25

30 Warranty Certificate Warranty This product is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and parts for a period of 36 months from the date of purchase. Defects that occur within this warranty period, under normal use and care, will be repaired, replaced or refunded at our discretion, solely at our option with no charge for parts and labour. The benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies in respect of the product the consumer has under existing U.K. laws. Proof of Purchase This warranty is valid for the original purchase and is not transferable. Please keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase and as proof of the date of when the purchase was made. The receipt must be presented with the warranty card when making a claim under this warranty. Service during the Warranty Period Please ensure the product is properly packaged so as to ensure that no damage occurs in transit. Also make sure that you have included a detailed explanation of the problem. Extent of the Warranty This warranty is limited to defects in workmanship or parts. All defective products or parts will be repaired or replaced. This warranty does not extend to accessories. Normal Wear and Tear This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of the product or parts. Exclusions This warranty does not cover the following: Any defect caused by accident, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, lack or reasonable care, unauthorised modification, loss of parts, tampering or attempted repair by a person not authorised by the distributor. Any product that has been damaged by lightning strike either directly or indirectly, or on a main s or vehicle outlet power surge or liquid ingress. Any product that has not been installed, operated or maintained in accordance with the manufacturer s operating instructions provided with the product.
