In Geomatica, you can use the integration capabilities between Focus and Modeler to create custom models and combine tasks using batch processing. This tutorial shows you how to create a model to clip all of your input data layers to the same extents, such as an area of interest. The input layers are then used to create new ones based on the extents of the file you use as a clip file. To perform batch clipping in Modeler 1. Open the Modeler application from the Geomatica toolbar. 2. In the Module Librarian window, find the CLIP module. 3. Click Add to Canvas, and then in the Modeler workspace, click where you want to position the module. 4. Right-click the workspace, point to Common Modules, and then click Import. 5. Click the workspace to place the module in the model. Page 1
6. Right-click the Import module, and then click Duplicate. This places a second Import module. 7. Right-click the workspace again, point to Common Modules, and then click Export. You can drag each module to suit to arrange them in the workspace. 8. Right-click the first Import module, and then click Open MCP(s). The IMPORT Module Control Panel appears, in which you specify file names and parameters. 9. In the lower-right corner, click Batch. The panel displays in Batch mode. Page 2
10. On the Input Params 1 tab, click Browse, select the first input file, and then click Open. 11. Under Available Layers, select all of the available data in the file you want to clip. 12. Add another input file: click Add. Click the layer you just added, and then click Browse to select the second image. Tip: In the File Selector window, you can select multiple images to add. 13. When you have all of the input layers set up, click Accept. 14. Right-click the second Import module, and then click Open MCP(s) to specify file names and parameters. 15. On the Input Params 1 tab, click Browse, select the file to use as the clip file, and then click Open. 16. Under Available Layers, click the Georeferencing layer you want to use as the boundary for clipping, and then click Accept. Note: You can also select a raster, vector, or bitmap layer. 17. Right-click the CLIP module, and then click Open MCP(s) to specify file names and parameters. 18. On the Input Params 1 tab, in the Clip Definition Method list, click Select a File, and then click Accept. Note: If in step 16 you selected to use a raster, vector, or bitmap layer, click Select a clip layer. Then choose whether to use the layers extents or shape boundary for Bounds. Page 3
19. Right-click the Export module, click Open MCP(s) to specify file names and parameters, and then click Batch. 20. On the Input Params 1 tab, click Browse, select a folder in which to create your clipped files, and specify a file name for the first output file. 21. Add another output file, using a new file name for each of the input files you want to batch process: click Add. 22. Click Accept. 23. Join the modules together with pipes: On the right side of the first Import module, click the Raster port. On the left side of the CLIP module, click the Layers to be clipped port. The port will change from red to green after it is connected. Note: If you did not choose a raster layer in the first Import module, you will see different types of output ports. You can use any of these ports during clipping. To clip multiple data types at once, click the Mixed port when connecting to the Layers to be clipped port. 24. On the right side of the second Import module, click the GEO port, and then on the left side of the CLIP module, click the Clip file port. Note: If in step 16 you selected to use a raster, vector, or bitmap layer, click the associated port of the second Import module, and then on the left side of the CLIP module, connect to the Clip layer port. Page 4
25. On the right side of the CLIP module, click the Mixed port, and then click the Mixed port on the left side of the Export module. Your completed model should as shown in the following graphic. Note: Save your model using the.mod file extension: on the toolbar, click Save. 26. To process the clipped files, on the toolbar, click Run Batch. Page 5
