PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE August Present, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY Prog/Analyst Specialist, Department of Computer Science Design and implement the National Science Digital Library (NSDL). NSDL project is an NSF funded project to build the largest digital library in our history. My major responsibilities are to design and implement the database architecture for metadata repository; to design and implement a metadata ingesting system to process and manage the digital library metadata. I am also responsible for all ORACLE DBA tasks including installing, maintaining, tuning, backup/recovering tasks. The technologies mostly used include Java, ORACLE, and XML. The IDE currently using is Jbuilder6 Enterprise Edition which is customized to use JDK 1.4, JAXP (Xalan 2.3.1, Xerces 2.0.1) connecting to ORACLE9.0.1 Enterprise Edition server using JDBC. The database server is currently on Linux Redhat 7.2, the application server is running on Linux Redhat 7.2; and the desktop for the development is Windows Senior Analyst, Cornell Information Technology Prior to the NSDL project, I was a senior analyst with Cornell Information Technology to implement and support PeopleSoft payroll system. August August 2001, Keane Inc., 220 Salina Meadows Pkwy, North Syracuse, NY Principal Consultant (August 2000 August 2001) Design and implement web enable projects for Carrier Corporation. My major responsibilities were to architect and design applications, mentor programmers, write critical classes and jsps, and perform ORACLE DBA tasks. We used Jbuilder4 as our IDE (which integrates HTML, Java (JDK1.3, J2EE), Java ServerPage, JavaScript) and XML for the front end and application coding, and ORACLE for the database backend. We adopted EJB architecture with standalone server to design and implement our applications. 2 Principal Consultant (March 2000 August 2000) Design and implement Operating Report System of a subway controlling system for Alstom Signaling, Inc. (Rochester, NY). My responsibilities were to document system requirements and design, data modeling, database design and implementation, report design and implementation, coding in C++ and supervising the interns to code; I was also acting as ORACLE DBA to install ORACLE, create database, and other daily DBA duties. The database was ORACLE 8i; the platforms were DEC UNIX server and NT workstations; programming language is C/C++; and a third party software package -- Remedy, Rogue Wave and BXLOOX. I also provided a weekly training class to Keane consultants on Visual Basic 6 during this period. Principal Consultant (January March 2000) Managed a large distributed MS SQLServer databases for Southern Containers (Long Island, NY). NT Server version was 4.0; SQLServer version was 6.5 (upgraded to 7.0); and communication between AS400 and NT Server used Client Access. The databases consisted of one master database (MS SQL Server) and individual MS SQL Server databases as well as one DB2 database. The replications between the databases were bidirectional. My responsibilities included trouble shooting and improving the reliability of database replications among SQLServers, and between SQLServer and AS400 database. Principal Consultant (September January 2000) Help to implement a PeopleSoft financial package for Carrols Corporation (Syracuse). The client is one of major Burger King franchises. My major responsibilities included: Writing SQR scripts for data processing; Writing SQR reports, fine tuning ORACLE database; Integrating ORACLE store procedures into PeopleSoft.; Designing GUI (panels, menus, etc.). Principal Consultant (September September 1999) Lead a Client/Server team of Keane on the Carrier Corporation (Syracuse) projects. Carrier Corporation is one of Keane s major clients in the CNY branch. Responsibilities included: Management of the Client/Serve application projects; Interaction with clients for business development, project delivery and production support; Setting up and supervising the procedure, standard, and practice for Multi-Tier Client/Server application outsourcing; Supervising the team both technically and administratively. The major projects that I worked on were a project tracking system (using Sybase 10, and 11, C programming language and SQR under UNIX platform), various legacy systems for enhancement and Y2K compliancy, various MS Access application projects and Microsoft suit projects. 8/2/2002 Stoney Gan 2/5

3 During the same period, I also led Multi-Tier Client/Server Team to support sales, prepare proposals and deliver projects. Sale support activities included helping sales team to prepare sale presentation, resolve technical issues, and interact with customers for technical and methodological issues. Proposal writing activities included providing technical solutions, evaluating the size of projects, and actual writing of proposals for the client/server project biddings. In the same period, I was also one of the principal contributors for the establishment of Application Development Practice at Upstate New York Branch, Keane Inc, and led the multi-tier client/server application development practice. Principal Consultant (August September 1998) Lead a development team for Xerox in Rochester to develop a copier diagnostic system under Windows 95 platform using Oracle database and Visual C Senior Consultant (August 1998) Develop a PowerBuilder application for Kemps Insurance Company in Syracuse using NT 4.2 platform. Senior Consultant (January July 1998) Lead "Resolve 2000" projects for MONY in Syracuse. Most of source codes renovated were in COBOL, PowerBuilder and C language. Major responsibility included interaction with the client, planning and executing project plans, and renovating the codes. Senior Consultant (August December 1997) Act as Interim Programming Manager at Business Record Corporation (BRC) in Syracuse. BRC is a major software provider for county government documentation such as land deed, birth/death certificates, etc. Major responsibilities included: Managing and staffing the programming team; I hired 5 of the team members, and perform daily management duties as well as employee development. August December 1994, Tivoli Systems Inc., Austin, Texas Production Integration Testing Engineer The software tested (WorkLoad 2.0) was for heterogeneous OS systems including Sun- OS, HP-UX, AIX, and Solaris. The databases for data management and defect tracing system were SCOPUS and Sybase. Major responsibilities included: Developing testing strategies and plans; Designing testing suites and exit criteria; Implementing and executing testing plans/suites; and Writing report for each version of testing. 5 During this period, I designed and developed STRATA-sun -- a simulation system of oceanic deposition process. It contained three major components: an interactive dataprocess subsystem for geohistoric analysis, stratigraphic forward modeling subsystem, and data/model convergence subsystem. The programming platform, languages and knowledge used were SunOS 4.1x, Solaris 2.4 and 2.5, C programming language, X/OL widgets, computer graphics, scientific simulation methodology, and stratigraphic expertise.
