1 Hardware Announcement July 25, 2006 Selected IBM System p servers offer new optional cryptographic coprocessor and other new functions Overview The PCI-X Cryptographic (#4764) for selected System p servers provides both cryptographic coprocessor and secure-key cryptographic accelerator functions in a single PCI-X card. The adapter delivers the security features and performance that you need to support On Demand Business and emerging digital signature applications. The Ultra320 SCSI Expandable Disk Storage Enclosure, which provides Ultra320 (LVD) SCSI disk storage for selected System p servers, is now available with an 845-watt power supply (#6260) that is more frugal with power consumption. When two of the new power supplies are configured with the Ultra320 disk storage enclosure, they deliver redundant backup. They are designed keep up to 24 disk drives operational in the event one of the power supplies fails. The disk storage enclosure device delivers disk storage in a 4U rack-mounted model (D24) or compact deskside model (T24). New 3.7-m (#3927) and 10-m (#3928) 9-pin to 9-pin null modem serial cables enable two EIA-232 communications ports to exchange data with one another without a modem.
