8 History Development systems using In-Circuit Emulators and Logic Analyzers have been successfully used for many years. In the early 80 s, universal, stand alone models began to appear which could be connected to a computer via an RS232 interface. With the increasing use of high-level languages however, programs can now easily reach several MBytes in length may cause problems when downloading to conventional emulators.
