3 INtroduction 02 WHAT IS EID? Electronic Identification (EID) means individual animals can be tracked through their entire life cycle via an electronic ear tag (or other EID devices such as a bolus). Many governments have implemented (or are planning to implement) mandatory EID schemes to help protect the industry from the impact of biosecurity threats. From a farmer s point of view, tagging animals with an electronic (EID) tag provides an opportunity to better manage the individual performance of those animals. Over time, an animal s weight history can be tracked, good and bad performers can be identified and the input of resources apportioned accordingly to ensure profits are maximised. How does eid work with your weigh system? With a Tru-Test EID compatible weigh scale and an EID panel or stick reader, animals can be scanned at the time of weighing. Individual animal weights and other traits can be recorded against each animal s unique ID number. Information is stored within the weigh scale ready for you to analyse later with the support of a data management programme. EziLink is regularly updated with new and improved features. Download the latest versions free from Blue Linker Blue Linker allows you to send files via Bluetooth from the XRS EID stick reader and the XR3000 weigh scale to specific models of Android cell phones. The file can then be ed to your chosen destination from the cell phone. This is a useful application for Livestock Agents, contract weighing staff and farm staff in remote locations who require an easy method to get data off the XRS EID stick reader or XR3000 weigh scale to a remote PC.
