4 FOREWORD AMEC would like to thanks you for downloading AMEC AIS app that work in conjunction with AMEC Camino-108W (Wi-Fi version Sold Separately). Wherever you sail, you can have a better overview of your surrounding sea, and thus have an safer voyage. What is the AMEC AIS App? The AMEC AIS App is a free complimentary App for the purchased of AMEC AIS CAMINO-108W transponder. This app is specifically design to work seamlessly with AMEC Camino-108W. This app enables users to monitor the surrounding AIS traffics on a mobile device such as Apple iphone, ipad, ipod touch and Android devices without physically tethering the unit to the displaying source. The app display AIS data on a radar view format or in an alphanumeric vessel list format. The app also offers various safety features to help users be alerted during their voyage. We hope you like our app as much as we like designing it for you. Please note that the app was not designed to replace standard navigation tools such as Chart Plotter. Please navigate responsibly. 5 HOW TO DOWNLOAD YOU AMEC AIS APP FOR IOS & ANDROID AMEC AIS app download methods. For ios Devices There are two ways to acquired AMEC AIS App for your beloved iphone, ipad and ipad touch devices. 1. Installation via itunes We assume you have itunes already installed in your machine. If you do not have itunes installed in your machine, you can download it from Apple website. Note: all modern Macintosh (Mac) come preloaded with itunes so installation is not required if you are a Mac user. Launch itunes by clicking the itunes logo. Within itunes Application, go to itunes Store (highlighted with a red rectangle). 5

6 Navigate to the Search Field (located on the top-right corner of the itunes Application) and type AMEC AIS and press enter. AMEC AIS App is highlighted with a red square. Click the Free button to download the App. 6

7 Remember to type in your Apple ID and Password. If you do not have an Apple ID account please sign up for one. Wait for the download to be completed. Plugin your iphone or ipad to your Mac or PC and Sync. 2. Installation via iphone, ipad or ipad touch Within your iphone or ipad, launch the App Store App. Once in the store, Search for AMEC AIS app and tap the Install button to install it. Remember to turn-on your Wi-Fi for better download performance and stability. 7

9 You are all done. Locate the app launch it and enjoy it! For Android Devices There are many ways to acquired AMEC AIS App for your Android devices. However, in this chapter we will only show you two way approved by Google. 1. Installation via Google Play App Within your Android device, launch the Google Play App. You will find the Play Store in your app drawer and likely on your default home screen. You can also open it by tapping the shopping baglike icon at the top-right corner of the app drawer. Remember to turn-on your Wi-Fi for better download performance and stability. 9

10 Once in the store, browse or search for AMEC AIS app and tap the Install button to install it. 10

11 2. Installation via Google Play on the Web To install apps from your computer, visit the Google Play website at You can search and browse for apps on the website. Once in the Google Play Store, search for AMEC AIS app and tap the Install button to install it. As long as you are logged in with the same Google account you use for your Android device, you can click the install button on the website to remotely install the app on your phone or tablet. If you have multiple Android devices, you can select the one you want the app to be installed on. Once you have told Google Play to install the app, your phone or tablet will start downloading the app and install it for you. Remember to turn-on your Wi-Fi on your Android device for better download performance and stability. 11

12 WELCOME TO AMEC AIS APP Minimalistic clean design to enhance your navigation experience. LAUNCHING OF THE AMEC AIS APP Locate the AMEC AIS app icon. Tap the app icon to launch the app. USING OF AMEC AIS APP Tap Start to begin using AMEC AIS complimentary app. Start Button 12

13 Radar View Pane Tx/Rx Status Light Return to Center View Pinch OUT to ZOOM IN Pinch IN to ZOOM OUT Status: it provide current transceiver or receiver system status. Normal: all system normal Error: Please refer to your Class B Transponder User Manual for further troubleshooting. Live Targets: it display the number of vessel that is currently track by the transceiver or receiver. 13

14 Alerts: it display CPA and TCPA warnings. Target Vessel Ship Icon SART Distance Ring Heading Line Ship Icon: ship icon is your vessel and is always display at the center of the screen relative to other surrounding targets. Target Vessel: vessels that is currently tracking by your Camino-108W. Tap Target Vessel once to select the vessel (the icon will turn green) tap it again to display the Target Details such as: vessel name, MMSI, LAT, LON and more. This page can also be access through the Target List Pane. 14

15 Heading Line: the heading line show the direction of the boat. Moreover the heading line increases or decreases depending of the vessel speed. The faster the vessel is moving the longer the line and vice versa. The heading line does not appear when the vessel is stationary. 15

16 Target List Pane The Target List view display the entire AIS target in a list view format that is within Camino-108W transponder range. You can Sort the list simply by tapping the blue menu bar. Tap the MMSI/Name to arrange by MMSI number or alphabetically. This function also applied to BRG, RNG and SOG. Sort Function 16

18 Settings General setting for the app. 1. Radar View Radar View Center Position: adjust the center point of OWN vessel. 18

19 Ship Icon Size: slide the slider right or left to adjust the icon size of the AIS targets. Ahead Time: adjust the ahead time in minutes. CPA (NM): setting for the Closest Point of Approach in nautical miles. TCPA (min): setting for the Time Close Point of Approach in minutes. Note: if a target enters into the CPA/TCPA area specified by this setting, it is consider a threat and a warning alarm is display in the Radar View page. Position Mode: select the data source of the GPS antenna. VDO: GPS data source is obtain from Camino-108W. GPS (Mobile): GPS data source is obtain from your tablet or smartphone. Simulation Mode: it disable or enable the app simulation Mode. (This feature is included to simply demonstrated how the apps works) Note - applied to Android devices only: for this features to work on Android devices you must Quit the app and Re-launch it every time you change the setting. 19

20 2. TCP/IP Setting The information below details the information required for connecting the CAMINO-108W to another device using Wi-Fi. SSID (Service Set Identifier): The SSID for the CAMINO-108W is AIS-B-NNNN where NNNN is the last 4 digits of the units serial number (printed on the label on the side of the unit) Security Encryption: Any device being used to connect to the unit via Wi-Fi should support WPA-PSK with TKIP data encryption If requested by your device for an IP address or port number, use the following details IP Address Port 3333 Password: The Wi-Fi Network key is @ The SSID, security encryption and Network key (password) are nonconfigurable and pre-set at the factory. 20
