An easy-to-use interface with a clear link between the data you input and the resulting reports. Bottom line: decisions. Good data can help you make better Additional characteristics of IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 include: Models up to 40 workloads in a single LPAR Models processors with up to 64 central processors, including the IBM System z9 family of processors Installs easily and is often up and running in minutes Allows all zseries and S/390 model simulations to run on a PC Helps the user review the impact of workload changes in the current S/390 environment and on future processor types Examines what if scenarios without the expense of running actual scenarios Helps predict the impact of hardware and software changes Indicates current processor utilization against processor capacity Helps predict when increased processor capacity will be required Provides integration with spreadsheet tools such as Lotus and Microsoft Excel Performance Management By definition, a system is out of capacity when it can no longer meet the service commitments made to the end users. To properly predict when capacity needs to be increased, any capacity planning tool must be able to predict or model the impact of change on end-user performance. Multitier platforms and reliance on Internet, intranets, and extranets makes prediction very difficult. If they are to help, capacity planning tools must consider all of the components in the delivery of service. Systems programmers or operations professionals can use capacity planning or performance modeling tools as an aid simulating the actual performance behavior of the mainframe computer. They can use them to help predict the output of these complex mainframe systems and also the impact of changing hardware or software. With this data, you can manage your zseries or S/390 proactively. After a baseline model is built and calibrated, all results will be compared to that baseline. Changing configuration definitions is relatively simple. Extracting zaap Information IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 is enhanced to provide support for zaaps as follows: The data extract functions now recognize and extract zaap specific information. For example, on the LPAR extract screen, there is a new output file called the zaap Report File that can hold utilization information for LPARs sharing special purpose central processors (CPs). The zaap Report File looks similar to the LPAR Report File, but it is only written when a zaap LPAR is found. It can be imported into your spreadsheet and used to help build a utilization chart similar to the utilization chart for general purpose CPs. New workload activity report fields can be recorded. When you run the workload extract, two new fields of data are recorded (when running z/os V1.6, or later): Integrated Facility for Applications Central Processing Unit (IFACPU) percent Integrated Facility for Applications (IFA) percent The IFACPU percent field contains the application percent IFACPU value from the workload activity report; but it is divided by the number of general purpose CPs, thereby representing the percent utilization of all of these CPs. Similarly, the IFA percent field in the workload extract file contains the application percent IFA value from the workload activity report, but it is divided by the number of special purpose CPs. The number of special purpose CPs is an input value that you must provide on the bottom of the workload extract screen. These new fields can be used to help create the zaap workload utilization chart and to build a new model. Selecting the ZWKLD graph button in the spreadsheet produces the zaap workload utilization chart. Simulation Versus Analytic Models IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 creates a simulation model that can easily be modified to reflect changes in the operating system when they occur. Modeling techniques generally fall into one of two categories simulation or analytic. In some cases, hybrid models have been developed which use combinations of both techniques. The differences between these techniques are as follows. Analytic models consist of mathematical equations that describe the processes being modeled. Analytic models are used when the processes being modeled are well understood and can be described as mathematical expressions. Simulation models rely on running the actual process being modeled, but in a simplified form. Since these processes take place over time, simulation requires running (simulating) these processes over and over in order to reach a steady state that mimics the real process. Analytic models typically are, by their nature, fast to run and require less processing power than simulation. Analytic models execute a number of mathematical equations and can run in seconds or less. Computer-based simulators must execute lots of instructions in order to simulate one point in time. Since simulators must model a period of time, many iterations must take place before the results are meaningful. This means simulators can run for an extended amount of real

time, and can use a larger amount of computer resources compared to analytic models. Simulators are used today to predict complex processes where analytic equations are not suitable. Some examples of these simulators are models that are used to predict weather and the presence of oil deposits. These models require large amounts of computer resources, but produce results that are not attainable with analytic techniques. In the early days of mainframe computers, operating systems were simpler than they are today. Over time, features have been added and operating system complexity has grown. Older analytic models, which were developed to predict computer performance, have found it difficult to keep up with the changing nature and complexity of today s systems. Analytic models use mathematical equations that represent the actual events being modeled. Changing the internals of an analytic model means changing these equations, which can be difficult to do. As computing systems grow more complicated, it can become increasingly more difficult to derive queuing equations that can accurately model these systems. IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 creates simulation models and, therefore, has a distinct advantage over products that use analytic models when staying current with system changes. Simulation models generally rely on programming (not queuing equations) to model the actual systems. It is typically much easier to reprogram the simulator to account for system changes than it is to generate new queuing equations. Simulators can generally be easily reprogrammed to model changes in the operating system as they occur. Model input and output IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 can model a wide variety of hardware and software changes. It is a powerful tool that can help you analyze what-if scenarios. For example, it can model the effects of: Hardware configuration changes Changing LPAR parameters, including the number of logical CPUs per LPAR and any weighting factors Changing the growth rate of workloads The input definitions are specified on three easy-to-understand screens: Configuration screen Workload activity screen LPAR definition screen As you build and calibrate your capacity planning model, you can capture numeric or text data. If you accumulate weekly reports, several weekly reports can be merged to produce a monthly report, and so on. An output metric is the performance of each workload modeled: For online workloads the average response time (in seconds) For batch workloads the average elapsed time Graphing workload performance While the simulator is running, you can see a graphical picture of workload performance. You can choose up to 4 workloads from a panel of 40 workloads to display in a continuously updated line graph. Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 is capable as of September 13, 2005, when used in accordance with IBM s associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via IBM s Web site /product_accessibility/index.html Unit-based pricing Unit pricing for eligible zseries IPLA programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zseries IPLA product with Unit pricing has a single price per Unit and a conversion matrix, called Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description. Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zseries IPLA program with Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Units per MSU you will need. Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code. For IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2, the Units are derived based on the total MSUs of the System/370, S/390, and zseries-based systems running OS/390, z/os, and z/os.e that are to be modeled by this software. Subsequent acquisitions of Unit priced programs offers additional price benefits for customers. The quantity of each zseries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity. If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a zseries IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Units is based upon the number of Units already acquired. For each zseries IPLA program with Unit Pricing, you should: Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise Convert the total MSUs to Units, using the applicable Unit Exhibit Multiply the price per Unit by the total number of Units to determine the total cost To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to VUs or vice-versa, use the Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Unit Converter Tool, visit the Unit Converter Tool Web site

Note that Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Units of another product. To determine the required license capacity for the zseries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section. IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations IPLA licenses may be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to, an enterprise. The customer may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement. It is the customer s responsibility to manage the distribution of Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license. Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made. Product positioning IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 is complementary to IBM Tivoli Decision Support for OS/390, which provides a central repository for easy access to enterprise-wide IT information for performance reporting, capacity management, service level management, and accounting. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. IBM Tivoli Enhanced -Based Pricing IBM Tivoli software products are priced using IBM Tivoli s Enhanced -Based Pricing. The Enhanced -Based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed. For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli s monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly. Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer s evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer s environment changes, the customer s implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered as needed without affecting the customer s license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software). Under Enhanced -Based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server s use in the customer s environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution. Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM pseries Scalable POWERparallel Systems servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application. For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described above concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well. Enhanced -Based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX and Microsoft Windows/Intel technologies, in order to simplify the customers licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zseries server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to zseries and other host servers as well. IBM Tivoli Enhanced -Based Pricing terminology definitions IBM Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL): This optional facility enables additional processing capacity exclusively for Linux workload, with no effect on the model designation of a zseries or OS/390 server. Consequently, executing Linux workload on the IBM IFL will not, in most cases, result in any increased IBM software charges for z/os, OS/390, VM, VSE, or TPF operating systems/applications. There is, as indicated, a charge associated with the IFL, and there may also be a charge for applications that run on the IFL. The IFL may be dedicated to a single Linux-mode logical partition or it may be shared by multiple Linux-mode logical partitions. Installations should note that the Linux workspace enabled by this facility will not support any of the S/390 traditional operating systems (OS/390, TPF, VSE, or VM). Only Linux applications or Linux operating in conjunction with the Virtual Image Facility, an environment that operates within a logical partition or in native S/390 mode and provides the capability to create multiple Linux images, are supported by the IBM IFL. Millions of Service Units (MSU): An MSU is defined as millions of Central Processing Unit (CPU) service units per hour; the measure of capacity used to describe the computing power of the hardware processors on which S/390 or zseries software runs. Processor MSU values

are determined by the hardware vendor, IBM, or Software Compatible Vendors (SCVs). For more detailed information about zseries software pricing, go to /library/refguides/sw_pricing.html Partitions: A server s resources (CPU, memory, I/O, interconnects, and buses) may be divided according to the needs of the applications running on the server. This partitioning can be implemented with physical boundaries (Physical Partitions) or logical boundaries (Logical Partitions). Physical Partitions are defined by a collection of processors dedicated to a workload and can be used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. In this method, the partitions are divided along hardware boundaries and processors, and the I/O boards, memory, and interconnects are not shared. Logical Partitions are defined by software rather than hardware and allocate a pool of processing resources to a collection of workloads. These partitions, while separated by software boundaries, share hardware components and run in one or more physical partitions. Processor ( per processor charging under full capacity): In full capacity charging, proof of entitlements must be acquired for all activated processors (available for use) that are on the server where the program or a component of the program is run. Notes: 1. IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and logic units. 2. Multicore technology allows two or more processors (commonly called cores ) to be active on a single silicon chip. With multicore technology, IBM considers each core to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical processors residing on the single silicon chip. 3. In the zseries IFL environment, each IFL engine is considered a single physical processor. 4. Threading, a technique that makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does not affect the count of physical processors. 5. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the program is run. 6. When a server is shipped with six processors, but two of them are inactive, four processors are active for the customer. Managed Processor (charging under full capacity in the managed environment ): Charges are based on the active processors on the machines in the computing environment affiliated with the program rather than on the server where the program is run. The managed processors which require proofs of entitlement (POE) are defined in the Prices section of the announcement or in the License Information s program unique terms. 3. The program may not run on some or all of the processors for which PoEs are required for the program s valuation method. 4. In the zseries IFL environment, each IFL engine is considered a single physical processor. 5. Threading, a technique that makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does not affect the count of physical processors. 6. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blades with which the program is affiliated. Server: A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more clients and/or other devices over a network. Examples include, but are not limited to, file servers, print servers, mail servers, database servers, application servers, and Web servers. Standby or Backup Systems: For programs running or resident on backup machines, IBM defines three types of situations: cold, warm, and hot. In the cold and warm situations, a separate entitlement for the copy on the backup machine is normally not required and typically no additional charge applies. In a hot backup situation, the customer needs to acquire another license or entitlements sufficient for that server. All programs running in backup mode must be solely under the customer s control, even if running at another enterprise s location. As a practice, the following are definitions and allowable actions concerning the copy of the program used for backup purposes: Cold A copy of the program may reside, for backup purposes, on a machine as long as the program is not started. There is no additional charge for this copy. Warm A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine and is started, but is idling, and is not doing any work of any kind. There is no additional charge for this copy. Hot A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine, is started, and is doing work. The customer must acquire a license or entitlements for this copy and there will generally be an additional charge. Doing work, includes, for example, production, development, program maintenance, and testing. It also could include other activities such as mirroring of transactions, updating of files, synchronization of programs, data or other resources (for example, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), or any activity or configurations that would allow an active hot switch or other synchronized

switch over between programs, databases, or other resources to occur. In the case of a program or system configuration that is designed to support a high availability environment by using various techniques (for example, duplexing, mirroring of files or transactions, maintaining a heartbeat, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), the program is considered to be doing work in the hot situation and a license or entitlement must be purchased. Units: A Unit is a metric used to compute license quantities, is program specific, and is typically only used on products managing zseries systems. Product and licensing Web sites: A complete list of IBM Tivoli products is available at Web site IBM Tivoli product licensing documents are available at Web site /licensing.html Pricing example IBM Tivoli Performance Modeler for z/os V2.2 The product is licensed in VUE007. IBM Electronic Services IBM Global Services has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put you on the road to higher systems availability. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides you with an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services is comprised of two separate, but complementary, elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent. IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The IBM Electronic Service Agent is a no-additional-charge software that resides on your IBM system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
