4 DMTF System Virtualizatin Partitining and Clustering Wrkgrup Virtual System Mdel Requirements General Requirements: Enable management applicatins which are unaware f virtualizatin t manage virtual systems, i.e. nce a CmputerSystem is created mst management peratins (list, install, cnfigure) are enabled withut requiring the management applicatin t understand virtualizatin. Make sure apprpriate prfiles frm SMWG, SMI-S and thers are applicable Supprt the symmetry inherent in multiple layers f virtualizatin. Mdel shuld be general and flexible enugh t supprt knwn virtualizatin systems including partitining and cntainers CmputerSystem Enumerate virtual systems, resurces, relatinships n a particular platfrm. Create Virtual System specifying resurces (CPU, disk, I/O) and attributes abut thse resurces (shared, virtualized, based n what platfrm resurce) Prvide ability fr management applicatin t intrspect the system at runtime t find ut virtualizatin capabilities and resurces supprted. Prvide apprpriate defaults wherever pssible Delete virtual system and return resurces t platfrm. Mdify the resurces that cmpse virtual system. Virtual Resurces Supprt creatin, mdificatin, deletin and inventry f virtual resurces Enable mapping f virtual resurces t underlying resurces (thrugh as many layers f virtualizatin as needed) Fr example: Custmer is ntified that particular physical disk is receiving intermittent errrs.
