1 Names for Numbers match up PATRIOTIC theme math game By Wise Owl Factory, FREE from the Pond, Gingersnaps Clip Art, Dragonfliesinfirst clip art 1
2 Directions to Make Matching Games Game one, like bingo Copy one of each page for just a few children or a small group of students. Cut one set apart for the draw pile (either the picture cards or number cards, the other set will be the bingo cards/math mats). Give each child a bingo card/math mat. Place the draw pile upside down scattered apart or in a stack. Play until one child has all sic squares covered, or until all players have all squares covered. Note: Older children could play with more than one game mat, younger children could play with the draw pile face-up for the first game. Place the reverse way another time. Game Two, like Go Fish Make 1 or 2 copies of all materials, cut all cards apart, and play like Go Fish until most or all pairs are matched, or until a certain amount of time has passed. Person with the most pairs wins. Names for numbers is ways to make the numbers. See pages 23, 24, and 25 to explain this to the children. Names for numbers is actually studied in elementary school, such as 2+2 is a name for 4, or 1+5 is a name for six. These cards do not have math facts on them but use pictures like what children may enter in math boxes in the Everyday Math program, such as a coins a tallies or base 10 blocks. Also, make up your own games with the materials! from the Pond, Gingersnaps Clip Art, Dragonfliesinfirst clip art 2
