Figure 2-2 As you know, the content on your MySLU page will depend on your role: faculty, staff, or student. However, there are some portions of the page that are the same for everyone, no matter what your role may be. Let s use the screen above as our example, and examine all the pieces of the screen. 1. Log in to MySLU with the SLU Net ID and Password provided to you by your trainer. On the far right side of the top of the page, you have some basic MySLU icons: , calendar, groups, logout, help: Icons are picture representations of actions. Note: the help icon is a very useful source for on-line help! Saint Louis University
15 Chapter Two: Overview of MySLU On the left side of the MySLU page are your tabs (these will change depending on the role you play.) Tabs represent categories of information much like file guides in a file cabinet or section guides in a recipe box. You can add more tabs to your MySLU and customize their titles we ll learn that later. The tabs you see on your initial login to MySLU are defaults and can not be changed. 3. Click on the Home tab. 17 Chapter Two: Overview of MySLU 17 Campus Announcements and Personal Announcements Campus Announcements and Personal Announcements channels allow communication with specific groups of MySLU users. These announcements have a start and stop date in the MySLU system and they will appear until they expire. Campus Announcements are global messages sent to all system users. Personal Announcements are sent based on information specific to your role on campus, your major (if you are a student), a class you are currently enrolled in (for example), or some other attribute. For example, an announcement could be sent to all history majors informing them of a lecture by a guest professor from another university. Announcements can be configured to appear within their respective channel and/or as an message for every recipient. Information Technology Services
