1 Course Registra-on using My.Fairfield October 2012 My.Fairfield provides access to the University's student system known as Banner, which manages all student records and course During the Course period, the of the system called Banner SelfService is made available showing all courses, labs, etc., for the coming semester. Signing in to My.Fairfield is the online tool by which students access Student SelfService Direc-ons for Student SelfService Registra-on System Login to my.fairfield (hnp://my.fairfield.edu) Students who need assistance with their NetID or password should contact the Help Desk at (203) or ext on campus. NOTE: Students with a financial hold or Dean of Students Hold will not be allowed to Register. To view holds: Click Student tab, Select My Academics, Click View Holds from Quick Links area. To begin Registra-on Click Student tab, Select Registra@on Click Add or Drop Classes (in the Quick Links area) If prompted, go through the steps for Electronic Promissory Agreement From the Term Code dropdown menu in the Promissory Agreement choose the term. Click Submit If the Electronic Promissory Agreement appears read and understand the agreement and Click I Agree if you agree to the terms Click the words Registra-on Form to display the Registra@on Term From the dropdown menu Select A Term choose the term. Click Submit In the Alternate Pin field, enter the PIN provided by your advisor Click Submit Tip! The Quick Links list provides shortcuts to navigate all steps in the Course RegistraKon process. Scroll down to the Current Schedule area of the window you may already be registered for a rollover course if it is the next course in a two- semester sequence (e.g. Elem. Spanish I to Elem. Spanish II)
2 To Add a Class If you already know the CRN To directly add a class using the CRN (Course Reference Number) Scroll down to bonom of the page to Add Classes Worksheet Enter CRN, or mul@ple CRNs one per field, in the 10 blank fields available Click Submit Changes bunon beneath The page will refresh and display the status of each class in the Current Schedule area If you do not know the CRN Search for a class (Click Search for a class in Quick Links area or Class Search bunon at the bonom of the page) Basic Search default view From the dropdown menu Select A Term choose the term to search, Click Submit In Look Up Classes Click to select the desired Subject from the alphabe@cal scrolling list, Click Course Search Courses in that subject are then listed, with View Sec-ons bunons to the right Click the View Sec-ons bunon for a course to view the availability
3 Advanced Search used when looking for all courses related to a specific subject area required by a major or program, a specific slot, etc. From the dropdown menu Select A Term choose the term to search, Click Submit Without choosing a subject, Click Advanced Search to display numerous criteria to search. The more criteria that are chosen, the narrower the list of results. MostCommonly Used Criteria a. Subject: at least one subject must be selected. b. Course number (CRN) c. Title d. Schedule Type: All, Lecture, Online Course, Webenhanced Once criteria parameters are completed, click Sec-on Search A list of courses and sec@ons fi`ng your criteria are displayed (see image on next page)
4 Viewing the Search Results The search results are displayed with column headings. Select: Square indicates an available (C) indicates closed CRN: the CRN (Course Reference Number) if you should need to note it Subj: Subject area abbreviated with two Crse: Course number 4digits Sec: (alphanumeric) Days: Days of the week are each first = (M, T, W, F, S), Thursday = (R) Time: Time of day that the course meets Cap: Seat capacity Act: Number of students already registered for the course Rem: Number of spaces remaining in the course WL Cap or WL Rem: Waitlist Capacity or Waitlist Remaining seats, both must show greater than zero 0 Instructor: Instructor s name, if assigned Loca-on: Building and Room, if assigned Selec-ng the Class Click to Check the box of the desired class in the Select column, Scroll to the bonom of the page and click the Register bunon in the lower lef corner. You will be returned to the Add/Drop Classes page. Note: If there is a problem with the registra@on a Registra-on Add Errors will appear below and explain the error. (see screenshot on page 5) Dropping a class Click Add/Drop classes from the Quick Links or scroll down to Current Schedule In the Ac@on column dropdown menu select Drop/Web for the course to be dropped Scroll to the bonom of the page, click Submit Changes. You will be returned to the Add/Drop Classes page.
5 Waitlist To place a class on Waitlist Search for the class. View the WL Rem (Waitlist Remaining) column where a number greater than 0 indicates a waitlist is available. Write down the CRN number Scroll to the bonom of the page, click Register, returning you to the Add/Drop Classes page. Scroll down to the Add Classes worksheet Type in the CRN you noted in one of the 10 blank fields and click Submit Changes bunon A Registra-on Add Errors sec@on will appear Select Wait List under the Ac@on column and Click Submit Changes ATer Waitlis-ng your course Check your Student Gmail account daily. If a seat becomes available in your waitlisted course you will receive an no@fica@on with instruc@ons and the deadline to complete the registra@on of the course.
6 Week at a Glance Click Week at a Glance from either the Quick Links or the Week at a Glance link at the bonom of the page. Enter a date in the Go To field and click Submit to generate a full week s course schedule. Tip! Enter date in the Go To field toward the middle of the semester to be sure to view a complete week. Finalize Course Selec-on Registra@on is not complete un@l courses are Finalized. Your seat in the course will not be held un@l you complete the finaliza@on process. Scroll down to the bonom of the Add/Drop Classes page Click the link Finalize Registra-on and a page will display confirming your registra@on is complete Sign out remember to Sign Out of my.fairfield when completely finished with your registra@on.
