2 NS8 Protect for Shopify User Manual U... July 08 This guide will show you how to use NS8 Protect for Shopify. NS8 Protect was previously known as NS8 Complete Storefront Protection. Some legacy support documentation may refer to NS8 Protect by its previous title. Additional help resources including live support and educational materials can be found online at our NS8U Help Center. 3 Go to the Dashboard: For subsequent instructions, such as changing settings, navigation to and from the NS8 Dashboard may be required. Follow these simple steps to get to the NS8 Dashboard inside of the Shopify Admin. Navigate to the NS8 Dashboard Open the Apps list on the navigation sidebar inside the Shopify admin. Locate the NS8 Protect App Click on the app name or the app icon to launch into the NS8 Protect Dashboard. Next: The NS8 Dashboard
4 The NS8 Dashboard: The NS8 Dashboard gives a store admin an overview of their store s recent performance and suspect activity. Monitors Status Average EQ8 Score 3 Suspicious Sessions Displays the current status of NS8 Protect s five monitors. A score of less than 00% means that one or more monitors is reporting a failure. Displays the average EQ8 score of your website s traffic over the last 4 hours. A score above 700 is desired. Displays the total number and the percentage of suspicious sessions from the last 4 hours. 4 Suspicious Orders 5 Low Quality Campaigns 6 Latest Suspicious Orders Displays the total number of recent suspicious orders. This section lists the advertising campaigns that brought in the lowest quality traffic over the last 4 hours. This section lists the most recent orders flagged as suspicious by either scoring below the EQ8 score threshold or by violating an order rule. 7 Fraud Indicators 8 Retargeting Savings Displays suspect activity and flagged indicators of fraud over the last 4 hours. An estimate of advertising dollars saved by preventing suspect users from being tagged for remarketing. Next: Navigate to the NS8 Protect Settings 4
5 Navigate to the NS8 Protect Settings: For subsequent instructions, such as changing the suspicious user settings, navigation to and from the NS8 Dashboard may be required. See page 3 for instructions on navigating to the NS8 Dashboard. Locate the Settings Dropdown The Settings/Support Dropdown is located at the top right of the NS8 Dashboard. Click on the Settings Link Click on the Settings link in the submenu. Next: Settings - Suspicious User Threshold 5
6 Settings - Suspicious Users Threshold: Navigation to and from the NS8 Dashboard is required for these instructions. See page 3 for instructions on navigating to the NS8 Dashboard. Some industries attract more fraud than others. That is why NS8 Protect offers each store the ability to set its own threshold to determine when a user is considered suspect or not. Suspicious users will lower the EQ8 score of advertising campaigns they are a part of, and they can be blocked from remarketing. Navigate to Settings Navigate to Settings from the Settings/Support dropdown, located at the top right of the NS8 Dashboard. Set Your Custom Threshold Adjust the slider to set your store s custom threshold for valid and suspicious users. The settings are automatically saved. The default value is 00. Next: Settings - Suspicious Order Threshold 6
7 Settings - Suspicious Order Threshold: Navigation to and from the NS8 Dashboard is required for these instructions. See page 3 for instructions on navigating to the NS8 Protect Dashboard. NS8 Protect scores every user and every order for fraud. Orders that receive low scores, or orders placed by users with low scores, are flagged for investigation. The flags appear in the NS8 Protect Dashboard as well as Shopify s default order queue. Store administrators can set a custom EQ8 Score threshold to determine when an order is flagged. Navigate to Settings Navigate to Settings from the Settings dropdown, located at the top right of the NS8 Dashboard. Turn on Suspicious Order Flagging Toggle the switch located in the top left corner of the Suspicious Order section. This preference will automatically be saved. Set Your Custom Threshold 3 Adjust the slider to set your store s custom threshold for suspicious orders. The settings are automatically saved. The default value is 00. Next: Settings - Auto SMS Verification 7
8 Settings - Auto SMS Verification: The store administrator can choose to automatically send an SMS verification request for orders suspected of being fraudulent. Follow these steps to activate Auto SMS Verification. Navigate to Settings Navigate to Settings from the Settings dropdown, located at the top right of the NS8 Dashboard. Scroll down the Settings page to find the SMS Verification section. Turn on SMS Verification Toggle the switch located in the top left corner of the SMS Verification section. This preference will automatically be saved. Optional: Enter a Custom Subject Line 3 %%STORE NAME%% will automatically populate your store s name. However, any custom text can be used. Optional: Enter a Custom Message 4 This message will appear before the verification link that the suspicious user will be asked follow. Any custom text can be used. Next: Order Escalation 8
9 Order Escalation: A store administrator can choose to manually send a SMS verification request for any pending order. Locate the NS8 Status The NS8 Status can be found appended to Shopify s default order page in the first column. Click the order number to view order details. Review Red Flags If a suspect order is scored for a high risk of fraud, a summary of the triggered red flags can be reviewed in a pop-up modal by clicking the fraud analytics link. The store administrator can weigh the red flags in their decision to escalate an order or not. 3 Open NS8 Order Review Open the More actions dropdown and click on the NS8 Order Review link. Request SMS Verification 4 From the NS8 Order review page, the store operator can choose to escalate a suspicious order with SMS verification.
