5 Introduction Purpose Target Audience Purpose and Scope of Document Graphics The Anticipated Graduation Date process updates Banner with the calculated graduation term, year, and date for each student. The process bases its calculation on the student s admit term, degree level code, and class level. The anticipated graduation date will display on the General Student form (SGASTDN). 6 Flow Description Overview Institutions need to be able to anticipate when students will graduate. On the Anticipated Graduation Date Rules form (ZOAANGR), users will define the number of months to calculate the anticipated graduation date from the student class level found on the Student Classification Rules form (SGACLSR). The user will then execute the Anticipated Graduation Date process (ZHRANGR) to calculate the anticipated graduation date for each student. I. Defining the Months for Calculation 1. 7 Implementing Introduction I. Set-up procedures for implementing Anticipated Graduation Date Process The Anticipated Graduation Date process requires student classification rules (SGACLSR), class code validation (STVCLAS), degree level codes validation (STVDLEV), and degree code validation (STVDEGC) to properly execute. These rules and codes should be set up prior to running the Anticipated Graduation Date process. This process will run successfully with or without a SHADEGR record existing. The Anticipated Graduation Date process will execute whether a valid term defined on Term Code Validation (STVTERM) is set up or not. When the predicted graduation term is defined in STVTERM, the process will work as it always has - which is to update the expected graduation date, graduation term and graduation academic year in both SGBSTDN and SORLCUR tables. When the predicted graduation term cannot be found in STVTERM, the process will use the month and date of the predicted graduation date to compare with the graduation date defined in ZOAANGR to get the expected graduation date. In this situation, the process will only update the expected graduation date, and not the term, in both SGBSTDN and SORLCUR tables. If the graduation term and graduation academic year have old values filled in these two tables, then the process will update them to null. The user defines the number of months for calculation on the Anticipated Graduation Date Rules form (ZOAANGR). User Documentation Page 3 February 2013

Create Student Classification Rules (SGACLSR) The Student Classification Rules Form (SGACLSR) is used to establish the academic classification rules to determine class calculation of freshman, sophomore, etc. based on the range of hours entered and any user-defined student attributes. 2. Create class code validation (STVCLAS) The class code validation form (STVCLAS) is used to create codes, descriptions and cross-reference values for student classifications, such as Freshman, Sophomore, etc. User Documentation Page 4 February 2013

9 3. Create degree level code validation (STVDLEV) The Degree Level Code Validation is used to create codes, and descriptions for each degree. Enter degree level codes that map to the appropriate credential levels. 4. Create level code validation (STVLEVL) These are institution specific level codes: student level (such as undergraduate or graduate). User Documentation Page 5 February 2013

10 5. Create degree code validation (STVDEGC) Each degree code must have degree level validation codes on STVDEGC prior to entering the anticipated graduation date. 6. Define the number of months for calculation (ZOAANGR) Users define the number of months the process will use to calculate the anticipated graduation date on the Anticipated Graduation Date Rules Form (ZOAANGR). (Users will also enter month and day in MMDD format of graduation date for Fall, Spring and Summer into the date fields. Rules established on ZOAANGR calculate the anticipated graduation date. Information from this form will populate the date on the General Student form (SGASTDN). The Degree Code in the key block of this form (ZOAANGR) is dependent upon the Degree Level Code Validations established in STVDLEV. User Documentation Page 6 February 2013

Execute ZHRANGR Parameters for ZHRANGR Execute the The Anticipated Graduation Date process (ZHRANGR) uses the student class level code on the Student Classification Rules form (SGACLSR) and the defined number of months from ZOAANGR to calculate and apply an anticipated graduation date to the General Student form (SGASTDN).This process may be executed at anytime and as often as required during the term. The total number of updated student records will appear in the.lis file. No Name Required Description/Instructions 01 Term Y Enter Term Code Default Values 02 Run Mode Y Enter A for Audit Mode, or U for Update Mode A 03 Application N Enter application code if population is to be used.. 04 Selection Identifier N Enter selection id if population is to be used. 05 Creator ID N The user id of the person creating the sub-population rules. 06 User ID N The user id of the person who ran the population selection.
