1 IBM Spectrum Protect TM Snapshot: How to find the information you need Tip: Beginning with Version 4.1.3, IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager is now IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager product name. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see You may have noticed some changes to IBM Knowledge Center since late May The changes introduced are due to two things: IBM Knowledge Center has been upgraded to a new version (read about it here and secondly there are some navigational enhancements added to help you to find the information you need. In this article I m going to share some tips and hints, to help you to navigate through the documentation so that you can find what you are looking for. Then, I will show how to use our new image maps to navigate to some key topics to get you started. 2 Navigating IBM Knowledge Center for IBM Snapshot Protect When you open IBM Knowledge Center you will see the following page: Click Products to switch out of the Search page. 1. Type Tivoli Storage Manager into the Search field. This action returns a list with all the Tivoli Storage products. Click the name of the product you are looking for, or search for a product name that you typed into the Search field. 2

3 2. From the drop-down menu beside the word Select, choose the version that you are looking for as shown in the picture that follows. The Welcome page opens for that version. 3. Click the hamburger icon to display the Table of Contents (TOC): 4. Navigate through the topics using the table of contents as before, expanding sections and using the TOC scrollbar. If you cannot see the scrollbar, hover over it with your mouse to make it visible. 3

4 What to do next Switching between versions To switch between versions, use the drop-down menu that shows the current version. Going to the next topic To go to the next topic in the navigation, click the Next topic arrow as shown. Alternatively, click a topic in the TOC. 4

5 Searching for a keyword To search for a keyword, click Search and enter the term that you are looking for. This will search for that term in the documentation you are browsing. Finding and downloading a PDF To download a PDF of the full User s Guide, go to the PDF files topic in the contents and choose which Guide one you are looking for. Click the download button as shown in this picture: 5

6 Getting started with the image maps IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot for Windows In IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows V4.1.6 IBM Knowledge Center an image map was delivered to help you to find important information in the collection of topics. You can interact directly with the links in the image to open topics about installing, configuring, protecting your data, and troubleshooting. 6

7 For example, if you click Configure mailbox restore options in the Configuring row for the Exchange Server, the following topic is displayed, IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot for VMware Similarly, the Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for VMware image map contains links to installing, configuring, and protecting topics to get you started. Example, when you click on the Video link in the Configuring row, a You Tube video called IBM Spectrum Protect for VMWare Configuration and Usage opens in a separate window. This video walks you through the dynamic allocation of target volumes on IBM SAN Volume Controller storage. 7
