2 PROBLEM A) Steering Harness Fastening Steering harness may interfere with moving deck parts and get damaged. B) ECM, Cluster And IBR Updates Customers may experience intermittent tether cord (D.E.S.S. key) recognition, and some PWCs may experience IBR fault codes due to too sensitive detection parameters. NOTE: Cluster will also be updated to match ECM and IBR updates. C) Tether Cord Cap Hard To Install On Engine Cut-Off Switch The tether cord cap (D.E.S.S. key) may be hard to install on the engine cut-off switch. B) ECM, Cluster And IBR Updates A new B.U.D.S. version is required and available on BOSSWeb, go to: ComCenter = Document Document Type = Diagnostic Software Select the following version B.U.D.S. - W3.3.4 SEA-DOO WATERCRAFTS AND BOATS This version includes the module update files. C) Tether Cord Cap Hard To Install On Engine Cut-Off Switch DESCRIPTION P/N QTY (P/N ) SOLUTION Reshaping tool (BRP) 1 A) Steering Harness Fastening Secure steering harness. B) ECM, Cluster And IBR Updates Update ECM, Cluster and IBR with revised softwares. Use B.U.D.S. W3.3.4 or newer that includes the required four.fc files. This tool has been sent previously along with Service Bulletin The tool has 2 functions: GO/NO GO gauge for validating ring dimension. Reshaping ring of the engine cut-off switch, when needed. C) Tether Cord Cap Hard To Install On Engine Cut-Off Switch Reshape engine cut-off switch. PARTS REQUIRED NOTE: Order parts through normal channels. 3 PROCEDURE A) Steering Harness Fastening 1. Open the front storage compartment cover. 2. Remove the storage bin. sbg _a 5. Pass connectors behind the harness. smo _a 3. Locate steering and OTAS connectors (bottom of steering column). sbg _a 6. Connect both connectors. sbg _a 4. Disconnect both connectors. sbg Fasten locking tie on the harness as shown. sbg _a WARRANTY / 13

4 B) ECM, Cluster And IBR Updates Reflash Overview Four reflash operations will be done in the order given in the following table. You will be automatically prompted to start the reflash operation after you click the Read Button within B.U.D.S. sbg _a 8. Secure harness sections together. MODULE APPROXIMATE TIME FOR THE REFLASH 1. ECM 6 minutes 2. Cluster 30 seconds 3. ibr 20 seconds 4. ibrmon 20 seconds Total time 7 minutes After each module reflash, the module will be automatically re-read by B.U.D.S. If the following message appears at this moment, do the following: sbg _a sbg sbg _a 1. Press the watercraft START button. 2. In B.U.D.S., click "OK" in the message box. 3. You can normally continue the update process. IMPORTANT: In case of problem updating a module, please contact the BRP technical support team. 5 Preparation NOTICE Continuous power to the computer and to the watercraft is mandatory during this operation. Be sure to disable the computer screen saver. If using a portable computer, be sure to provide a continuous supply of electrical power by connecting it to a wall outlet. These software updates of the watercraft modules will take some time to complete and MUST NOT be interrupted or damage to a module could occur. mbg Three modules should appear as connected in B.U.D.S. Although computer screen may go blank or may seem to freeze for a while, do NOT interrupt B.U.D.S. to allow updates to be completed. NOTE: The maintenance reminder light will automatically reset while updating the modules. 1. Ensure the watercraft battery is fully charged. 2. Connect a portable power pack (fully charged) to the watercraft battery to ensure there is enough power to complete the software updates. The use of the portable power pack is required to avoid potential communication problems during the update. NOTICE NEVER use a battery charger instead of portable power pack. The battery charger may cause electrical noise causing many problems during the update. 3. Make sure to use the proper B.U.D.S. version. REQUIRED B.U.D.S. VERSION sbg TYPICAL 4. Click on Read Data. vmr _aen 5. When the following message appears, click Yes to start the updates. W3.3.4 or higher 4. Connect MPI before starting B.U.D.S. to ensure proper operation. Refer to 2011 SHOP MAN- UAL for details: Section 03: ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Subsection 04: COMMUNICATION TOOLS AND B.U.D.S. Watercraft Software Updates 1. Push the START button briefly. 2. Install tether cord on engine cut-off switch. 3. Start B.U.D.S. and logon. NOTE: If the following message does not automatically vanish, click the button: Try active detection mode. sbg _a TYPICAL NOTICE While the ECM is being updated, an hour glass might appear on the computer. The computer screen and vehicle cluster might also go blank. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING until the following message appears. Then, click the "OK" button. WARRANTY / 13

Look at the "BRP Assembly Number". rbg Repeat the same update steps for the remaining modules to reflash. NOTE: When updating the ibr, it is normal to hear a beep from the watercraft. 8. After the upgrade of all modules, ensure to clear all occurred faults with B.U.D.S. 8.1 Click on the Faults tab. 8.2 Click the "Clear Occurred Faults" button. rmr CLEAR OCCURED FAULTS Module Update Validation 1. Exit B.U.D.S. 2. Remove tether cord and wait until cluster shuts down. 3. Push the START button briefly. 4. Install tether cord on engine cut-off switch. 5. Restart B.U.D.S. and click on Read Data button. 6. Check if the updates have been successfully reflashed as follows. 7. 7 9. If any number in the table is found in B.U.D.S., then the update was successful. 10. Select the Module drop down list and select Cluster then Information. 11. 8 If engine cut-off switch can be inserted inside the gauge, cut-off switch is GOOD and does not need to be reshaped. sbs _a 1. 1 st half of the two-piece reshaping tool 2. Tool groove sbs _a GOOD FIT : NO REFORMING REQUIRED 1. Gauge installed on the cut-off switch 2. Cut-off switch (steel ring) fits inside gauge 2. Position the 2 halves of the reshaping tool on the cut-off switch. 3. Install tool screws. If engine cut-off switch can not be inserted inside the gauge, cut-off switch needs reshaping. sbs _a BAD FIT: RESHAPING REQUIRED 1. Gauge installed on the cut-off switch 2. Cut-off switch (steel ring) does not fit inside gauge Engine Cut-off Switch Reshaping Ensure tool and engine cut-off switch are free of any particles. 1. Install the reshaping tool (P/N ) on the engine cut-off switch. NOTE: The cut-off switch steel ring must sit in the tool groove as shown. sbs _a 1. Reshaping tool 1st half 2. Reshaping tool 2nd half 3. Screws 4. Using a 4 mm (15/32 in) Allen key, tighten both screws little by little, alternately. NOTE: The screws must be tightened equally on each side to ensure a uniform conformation of the cut-off switch steel ring. sbs _a 1. Allen key - 4 mm (15/32 in) 2. Tighten tool screws alternately 5. Tighten screws until the two half flat surfaces are in full contact, one with each other. 8 / WARRANTY
