3 PURPOSE Basic Software Maintenance The purpose of this documentation is not to teach Windows functions, but to help the user to install, update, and maintain the TS2000 software. Not every situation can be covered here. It is assumed that the user has some basic Windows knowledge. ZIP ICONS STYLE #1 STYLE #2 This icon shows the file is zipped and that Windows will expand the files. PC s using this process will be referred to Expanding the files. This icon shows the file is zipped, but a utility other than Windows will expand the files. Typically, the program named WinZip is one of the more popular utilities to expand this file. WinZip will be described here, as WinZip is the currently installed program. PC s using this process will be referred to Unzipping the files. WINDOWS and OTHER HINTS When clicking icons or objects, never click the text below. Always click the icons if there are available. Clicking the text may trigger Windows to rename the icon or object. A renamed folder or object could cause program fatal errors. When downloading updates from CALLSIGN SOFTWARE, when you are prompted to save the file, add the following to the file name: C:\ Example: C:\hamstationultrats updatekit.zip This places the file at the root (top) of the hard drive and makes it easier to find and install. 22 REPORT PROGRAM ERRORS Please read the software manual. Most answers can be found there. Software is not always perfect and sometimes, mistakes are made. We will be happy to correct any errors you report. See if you can cause the error again. Write down each step you took to get that error. Simply stating you a bug in a specific function does not help the programmers. The more information you can give as to what you were doing, what happened, write down any error messages exactly, and any remedies you performed to correct the problem, gives the programmers the information to make a program fix fast so that you can enjoy your program and radio! When reporting a programming error, please tell us which version of the TS2000 software you have. LEFT-CLICK the HELP option on the MENU BAR, then LEFT- CLICK the ABOUT option on the list displayed. The version number is displayed on the window. Giving us this version number tells us whether your software is current or not. LEFT-CLICK the OK Command Button to remove this window display.
